As a first-generation, wholesome Pennsylvanian man, I am a sucker for a name like Colton Cowser. Maybe it’s the mooing I hear in the back of my mind every time his name is uttered, or perhaps it’s Colton’s efficient stroke that stays on plane so well through the baseball that has me hooked. When I was a child, my parents used to drive me past cow pastures to help put me to sleep. A lot has changed since then. Now, my wife drives me past cow pastures to help put me to sleep. It’s comforting. So is having a prospect like Cowser in your Minor League system when the likes of Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, Ryan Mountcastle and more already producing in the bigs. Cowser has the chance to make a Rutschman-like impact in 2023. That could be for the Orioles, for your fantasy team, or both. Let’s get into just how much of a boost Cowser could provide for your squad this season, as well as when he can be expected in Baltimore with the Birdies.

Eloy Jimenez has all the talent in the world, doesn’t he? When he’s healthy and “on” he often reminds me of the great Manny Ramirez – loose, smooth, and confident. But can Eloy ever stay on the field with any consistency at this point? This week it’s a hamstring injury – always a giant red […]

Happy Easter/Passover/holiday weekend Razzballers: Easter Weekend is upon us at my household, meaning there is plenty of delicious food/drink to be consumed, talk of World Series aspirations are still reasonable for my fellow Yankee and Met fans, and my grandfather will be asking me about the merits of investing in Bitcoin. Great times! We’ve had […]

Instead of inserting a witty lede to kick of this week’s prospect post, I decided I would share three major breakthroughs I’ve made in life over the past 24 hours. Some may be more relevant to you than others, but the first is the most essential — and also the most blatantly obvious. One: if you’re building your dynasty league strategy based on MLB Pipeline’s top-100 prospect rankings and not The Itch’s, you’re putting yourself at an incredible disadvantage. If you’re reading this, then you’ve navigated to Razzball for a reason — so utilize the resources we have for you. Without a doubt, The Itch’s prospect rankings are the best out there for fantasy purposes and I base my personal strategy off of them while incorporating my own evaluations. Two: moving forward, I will be alternating between a Prospect Watch piece (this week) and unveiling five new college prospects in my Way-Too-Early Top 25 for the 2022 MLB Draft. That makes one of each per month as every post will arrive on Tuesdays on a bi-weekly basis. Three: Colton Cowser is a somewhat-cool name aided by alliteration, but it’s even better and far-more fierce when you flip it backwards: Reswoc Notloc. How awesome? It honestly sounds like something out of a Lord of the Rings novel: Reswoc the Warlock. Anyway, Reswoc is the focus of this week’s Prospect Watch piece. If you’ve been following my collegiate prospect coverage the past two years, then you’re already somewhat familiar with him. Today, I’ll provide an update and let you know how you should be evaluating Mr. Notloc in your dynasty league moving forward.

Good Afternoon MLB DFS’rs, and welcome today’s FanDuel analysis.

Before we dive into the today’s slate, I want to spend a few short moments talking about mental illness. With it being Suicide Awareness month and recent news about Dak Prescott I thought it would be good to share some personal info about myself. About a year ago my brother took his own life. He had everything you could ask for in life. Beautiful family, super successful business, married his high school sweetheart. But he suffered in silence. In the end it was just too much to bear. Please, if you’re ever feeling down, SEEK HELP. Talk to friends, talk to family. Just know, someone loves you. And someone will be beyond crushed if you’re gone.

If you’re still with me, let’s dive into today’s action. We have a small three game main slate that I’ll focus on. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of anything where there’s less than four games. The game that I’ll be focusing most of my attention on is the Braves/Orioles game. In this game you have two pitchers who are both below average. This should, in my and Vegas’ opinion, be the highest scoring game of the day. If you’re going to win all the money, tonight’s a night where you may need to get a a little crazy. Pick a batter opposing the pitcher you’re using, stack the bottom of the lineup. When it’s this small, go crazy! Let’s look at some individual plays!

Rumors abound that the 2020 MLB season will begin sometime soon in some shape or form. And boy do we need real games, so much so that ESPN is showing our brethren in Korea live in the early AM hours. On the bad side, Blake Snell speaking out can go from praised to vilified in moments. On the good, spring is about hope, and hope right now springs eternal, especially in places like Baltimore. The Orioles are among many teams that can figure in a shortened season with a potentially expanded playoffs ‘Why not us?’. They were dealt a blow with the Trey Mancini news. Ryan Mountcastle has the best chance to fill Mancini’s shoes in the lineup, but he’s at first base. So who is left to fill his shoes in the outfield?
