I hope everyone had a fun second week. There was some good, like Mark Trumbo going double dong in one inning. There was also some bad, like whatever it is Matt Harvey is doing. Trevor Story didn’t hit a homer every single day this week, easing the pain for those of us that don’t own this middle infield monster. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief as just about everyone that should have a home run has hit one by now, even Mike Trout!
It’s the silly season for our leagues at this point We can see huge swings in the standings based on 2-3 good days of stats. We have a new top team on the RCL leaderboard and they had one of those silly gains to get there, gaining 25 points in 7 days time. Not bad for a frequent commenter, occasional contributor and long time Razzballer. Despite that enormous gain, they aren’t even this week’s team of the week. I’m sure the suspense is killing you, so come on down after the jump and check out the week that was…
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts & other industry names to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCL’er in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.
Click the heading above to check out the ‘Perts League home page and follow along. It looks like JB will have some prime podcast material this week. JB’s…uhhh…Meat Popsicles…well then…added 6 points and jumped up from 3rd into a tie for 1st place. Big Magoo made a massive leap this week with a gain of 15.5 points to move from 5th into that tie for the top spot. JB’s squad didn’t do anything particularly spectacular, but did a lot of things pretty OK. He has gotten some excellent pitching thus far, though as I type this Carlos Rodon is dropping a lovely 135.00 ERA on his (and my) team. JB also has the odd distinction of being 2nd in the ‘Perts league in HRs and third from the bottom in RBIs. That’s a lot of solo shots. Magoo on the other hand has ridden the Harper express to the top of the league. Bryce has been an absolute machine the past week. His 4 HRs, 12 RBIs, 2 SBs and .346 batting average are the things roto dreams are made of. That, paired with Chris Davis typical power and Vince Velasquez’s awesome performance, has Magoo sitting pretty.
The biggest gainer in the ‘Perts league this week was Team Gianella who gained 22 points and jumped up 5 spots from 11th to 6th. On the flip side, the biggest loser was triple-D, Dalton Del Don of Yahoo. Triple-D lost 12.5 points this week and fell from 2nd to 5th.
TOP 10
Typically, this will be a quick view of the top of the Master Standings. Since it takes a couple weeks to get those up and running, this week we’ll just that a look at the top 10 highest scoring RCL teams based on roto points. Here’s how it shakes out after two weeks:
RK | PTS | League | Team |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 109.5 | ECFBL | Simply Fred |
2 | 108.5 | Take on the JayWrong 3 | The Education of Dr Z |
3 | 107.5 | Effectively Hide my Thunder | Yapping Chihuahuas |
4 | 106 | Hey Ladies! Get Funky | Eaton p*ssy or Eaton dong |
5 | 101.5 | High Heat | The Fighting Mongooses |
5 | 101.5 | Rosterbators Anonymous | Team Sullivan |
7 | 100 | American Dream | Team M. |
8 | 99.5 | Cougs R Us | Fatuous Jeffreys |
8 | 99.5 | The Second Greatest | The Anti- Greys |
10 | 99 | All Hail Beddict Tha God | The Talent Show |
10 | 99 | Emasculating Throat Lozenges | The Iron Horse 2 |
10 | 99 | Gettin Frisky | Swedish Phish |
10 | 99 | Myers Superfoods | I Cano Speak Englis |
There he is, friend of Razzball, Simply Fred with the top overall spot. Fred equals the high water mark set last week by the Yapping Chihuahuas of 109.5 roto points. Fred of course has done this so far in the super-competitive ECFBL. Once things get rearranged based on League Competitive Index it will be interesting to see how these standings shake out. Things are a bit more crowded at the top this week with The Education of Dr. Z and the aforementioned Chihuahuas hot on Fred’s heels. Team M and Swedish Phish are the only other holdovers from last week’s top 10 as My Mustache Has A Mustache missed it by 0.5 points. I’m very interested in seeing how the Anti-Greys make out this year. They debut in the top 10 and I’ll be curious if the Anti-Greys can finish higher than the real Greys.
TRADES
All the trades that have gone down in the past week. Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.
DATE | LEAGUE | TRADE |
4/11/2016 | Center Field | Thomaston Herbivore Club traded Yordano Ventura to Vin and Angela for Brock Holt |
4/14/2016 | FCL | Odin’s Virulent Man Beard traded A.J. Ramos to Team grimes for Miguel Sano |
4/14/2016 | Oscar’s Gambling on this League | Tark’s Runnin Rebels traded Alex Rodriguez, Ben Zobrist and Jay Bruce to The Duda Abides for Adam Wainwright and Arodys Vizcaino (The Duda Abides dropped Cory Spangenberg) |
4/14/2016 | The Third Greatest | Extended Training traded Ian Desmond and Stephen Strasburg to Team harris for Brock Holt, Ryan Zimmerman and Santiago Casilla |
4/16/2016 | ECFBL | Evil Evies traded Ben Revere*, Carlos Gomez, Robinson Cano and Sam Dyson to Team AL KOHLIC for Andrew McCutchen, Ken Giles, Nomar Mazara and Trea Turner |
4/17/2016 | HodgePadres ‘R’ Us | Grow Up PeterPan traded David Ortiz to Team maxwell for Roberto Osuna |
Power for saves seemed to be a theme this week as Sano and Big Papi each fetched a closer on the open market. I’m a little shocked that people are actually trading FOR Brock Holt, but there he is, appearing twice. One of those deals is what seems like a couple of scrubs and a closer for Stephen Strasburg. I wonder if Team harris wore a black ski mask while accepting (or proposing) that trade. Finally, a large trade went down in the ECFBL with Evil Evies selling high on Cano and bailing on Carlos Gomez in return for Andrew McCutchen and some young guns in Nomar Mazara and Trea Turner. I’m curious when the Nationals will pull the trigger on Turner and excited to see what he does once he arrives. He seems to have the tools that will translate well. This deal seems fair for both sides and really just comes down to who you view as risky and how much of that risk you’re comfortable taking on.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: AK FortySevens
League: Night Of The Living Zombinos
Stats: H/AB: 97/315, AVG: .308, R: 57, HR: 18, RBI: 57, SB: 9
IP: 75.2, ERA: 2.85, WHIP: 1.02, K: 71, W: 6, SV: 10
Summary: If you’re looking at top teams this week, it’s a pretty safe bet that one or both of Nolan Arenado and/or Mark Trumbo will be on the roster. Holliday and Cespedes each chipped in 2 HRs for the FortySevens and Dee Gordon provided the speed. Yunel Escobar and Angel Pagan helped keep the batting average elevated for the AKs. The quartet of Kimbrel, Allen, Robertson and K-Rod provided a total of 10 saves. It was a good day when Jaime Garcia took the mound for the AKs this week. Michael Wacha also started to look like he’s righted his early season woes as well. It was all good for the AK FortySevens as they accumulated all these stats in one of the more highly competitive RCLs. Nice work, keep it up.
