As we approach Memorial Day and the week eight recap of the Razzball Commenter Leagues, our league standings have stabilized a bit. Those teams who got out to 30 point leads at the end of April have drifted back to the pack (hopefully), and even those teams who were sitting in last place (I had more than a few of those) have chipped away at the deficit (though not as much as I’d like). This is the time to take a look at those standings and see where you’re lacking and make a move. Historically, these two weeks are the busiest trading weeks of the year. This past week didn’t disappoint with 13 total deals getting made. The week before the deadline is the other busy trade week. So, cozy up to the grill or firepit, grab a beverage of choice, and scan those standings while firing off trades this weekend. Best of luck in your quest for glory.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Despite losing seven points this week, Kirksy held onto first for another week, but really came back to the pack. Son was the biggest gainer this week, picking up 11 points and pulling himself out of the bottom half of the league into fourth place. I’m still waiting for my week of gains. The Great Knoche took the biggest tumble this week, losing nine points and falling four places to eighth.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Zachary Meyer remains atop the Razzslam standings, but a new challenger has emerged. Rob Sherwood gained the most points this week and continues his meteoric rise up the standings, now just 86 points behind Zachary. Brocnessmonster was knocked from the two spot and fell to fifth. Greg Smith joins the top ten this week thanks to a ten spot jump, but the biggest jump this week was NMimi who jumped up 69 places (nice) thanks to a 690 point week (nice, times ten!).

Lots of closers changing hands this week, including Emilio Pagan three times (two by me, to the same manager in different leagues!). I think we’re all waiting for Pagan to turn pumpkin. Now watch him lead the league in saves out of spite. Not sure what B_don was doing. Yaz is on the wire in many of my leagues, great grab for MarmosDad there. The Wyatt Langford deal almost got vetoed, which I don’t really understand. I’m very anti-veto, let managers manage their teams! Anything jump out to you here?

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: Ping Bodie Gluttons
League: Original Recipe
Stats: AVG: .274, R: 49, HR: 20, RBI: 53, SB: 8
IP: 54.1, ERA: 2.15, WHIP: 1.049, K: 62, W: 5, SV: 7
Summary: What a week! Amazing offense, great ratios, a drool-worthy K/9, the Gluttons did it all this week. Four hitters powered the offense with three home runs each: Wilmer Flores (.348/9 RBI), Cal Raleigh (7 RBI), Kyle Stowers (.409/4 RBI), and Fernando Tatis Jr. (4 RBI). Eugenio Suarez led in runs batted in with 10. Dansby Swanson added two round-trippers and three steals. Will Benson was picked up on Sunday and went 3 for 4 with two home runs. Talk about a glutton! Tarik Skubal stumbled, allowing five runs, but he still struck out 11. Merrill Kelly picked up the slack with two wins and 19 strikeouts while allowing just one run and 12 baserunners in 14 innings. Corbin Burnes struck out ten and recorded a victory, while Colin Rea gave up just three runs in 12 innings and added a win. Edwin Diaz (2 saves), Kyle Finnegan (2 saves), and Yimi Garcia (1 save) combined for seven innings with no runs allowed. Raisel Iglesias gave up a run in 2 of his 3 appearances, but still walked away with a win and two saves. The big week gained the Gluttons nine points to move from 9th to 4th place in ORIGINAL RECIPE. Big swings are still possible!

In my defense, Yas and Busch are both borderline for RCLs, and have you seen what Michael Busch has been doing the last month? I didn’t need 3 middling 1B, needed an OF. Last 30 days, Yas has been better than Butler, Mullins, MH2, Chourio, Reynolds, Merrill. Not a high bar, but he is a top 50 OF for the season.
word, i don’t have busch anywhere, so hadn’t noticed his slump, just that he’s rostered everywhere and yaz is available about half my leagues. needs are needs though, which is why i would never think of vetoing anything. let managers manage, and you’re outmanaging me so far!
I picked up Yas in a couple NFBC leagues a few weeks ago thinking he’d only be in my lineup for a week as a fill-in, but he’s been surprisingly good so I’m going to keep riding with him for now. Coincidentally in one of those leagues he’s at my utility spot to replace Busch, who hasn’t given me much reason to move him off my bench of late.
Vin thanks for the write up on Ping Bodie !!
You’re welcome! I wish you luck the rest of the season to finish just behind me.
iI stepped back and looked at a manager roster and then at the Razz trader for equivalency of dollar value. Below are some trades that I wanted to run by you. Which one would you prioritize?
1. Rice and Yelich for Pfadt
2. Yelich for Jack Flaherty or Ben Rice and Yelich for Flaherty
3. Yelich for Bailey Ober or Ben Rice and Yelich for Ober
4. Yelich for Zabby Matthews
or
5. Just waive Yelich for either Shelby Miller or Brazoban.
I am so grateful for all your help!!
Yelich for Ober would be my choice there, maybe throw in Rice if you can spare it, but the manager might bite on just Yelich.
Perfect! great advice!!
I just checked out the Lindorphins team. I didn’t realize it is an abandoned team. 0 moves. Has Profar and injured in his starting lineup.
aw man, i hate losing to teams not even trying…really dents my fragile ego
Well, he abandoned even before the draft, so he autopicked all the big name pitchers.
I’m now making this a side quest. Beat the abandoned autodrafted Lindorphans in WHIP.
Nice. Good luck!
