Welcome to the week that was, week 7 in the Razzball Commenter Leagues. Vin tells me this past week marked the 25% point of our season. I’d say it’s officially panic time for those of us in the bottom of the league standings. For every team I have with PCA, I have one with Roki Sasaki absolutely devastating my ratios. What a disappointment. I had such high hopes after watching him in the WBC and really thought he would dominate stateside. Between that and random reliever implosions (Porter Hodge, Kevin Ginkel, even Emmanuel Clase) I’m lucky to have any teams with an ERA under 4.00. It’s not pretty out there, and it’s getting late early, but still we fight on. Plenty of people are doing just fine with their teams and avoiding landmines, so let’s focus on them, some trades, and the rest of the week that was week 7.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
There wasn’t a ton of movement this week as standings start to normalize. See my panic above. Mike C had the best week of the bunch, gaining 7.5 points and moving up to second place thanks to 77.2 IP, 7 Wins, 75 Ks, and some very nice ratios (2.78/1.185). Blair and MarmosDad brought up the rear, dropping 4.5 and 4 points, respectively, and slipping further into the basement.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Zach Meyer remains in first place while brocnessmonster kept climbing the standings to land in second, overtaking SaucyMittenz. Vottoman Empire continued to try and claw back to the top three, finishing the week in fourth. Rob Sherwood, friend of the show, had the most points in the Razzslam this week (716) gaining 26 spots in the standings and landing in the top ten overall. Meanwhile, Dan Parsons had the biggest standings jump this week, gaining 678 points and moving up 72 spots to 110th overall.

Eight trades this week, including me trading FOR Roki Sasaki, help me, I have a problem. My thanks for this trade was something like 12 ER in 3 IP and no strikeouts. I’m not sure how I feel about Knoche’s deal for Ben Rice, but getting some value for Williams probably is a good call. I really don’t like TLB’s deal for Harris. I’m a Braves fan too, and MHII is so fun, he’s just not great for fantasy right now.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 64 – JamScandal (NOTLZ)
HR –21 – BryceGaskin (RCL 11)
RBIs – 68 – Village Vagrants (RCL 18)
SB – 16 – milothecat (NOTLZ)
AVG – .329 – Crab Army Majordomo (CRAB ARMY)
K – 110 – FuzzyD (RCL 17)
W – 10 – cubbiehead (COUGS R US)
SV – 7 – 5 Teams Tied
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.10 – goobjones (RCL 29) (in 57.1 IP)
WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.746 – Lindorphins (RCL 30) (in 60.1 IP)
NOTLZ came out swinging this week! FuzzyD broke their own strikeout weekly mark to take sole possession of the record. 110 strikeouts in only 87 IP. How does that happen? Cubbiehead was my hero this week, breaking a six-way tie for the Wins record and bumping it to ten. On a total sidenote, I love the Lindorphins team name.
A couple more notes from the week from VinWins:
42 teams had an ERA below 2.00. 32 were above 6. (I think 8 of those were my teams)
3 teams hit under .200 (5 last week)
25 teams hit over .300. (59 last week)
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: Longballers
League: RCL 35
Stats: AVG: .281, R: 59, HR: 16, RBI: 59, SB: 6
IP: 47.1, ERA: 2.47, WHIP: 1.056, K: 52, W: 5, SV: 5
Summary: Longballers lived up to their name this week, cracking 16 long balls and moving into first place in RCL 35. Longballers gained 7.5 points in moving from third to first. The big names paced the offense with Trea Turner (.370 with a homer and three steals) and Aaron Judge (.333/3 HR/6 RBI) showing the way. Willson Contreras and Carlos Santana also drove in six each. Santana did it in 14 at bats as Longballers picked him up and dropped him twice. Trevor Larnach was added on Friday and went 6 for 13 with a home run. Sometimes you can do no wrong. Nathan Eovaldi was the top pitcher with 2 wins and 14 strikeouts while allowing just one run and 9 baserunners in 13 innings. Garrett Crochet struck out 9 en route to a victory, while Kevin Gausman struggled but did record a win. Jhoan Duran appeared in 4 games, compiling a win and three saves while striking out six. Emmanuel Clase and Emilio Pagan each added a save. Nice work, Longballers!

The timing of that Hunter Greene trade made me feel pretty dirty. I thought it would get vetoed. Flabbergasted it was allowed to
go through.
nah, only veto if there’s cheating involved, not for unlucky timing. at least that’s my take
I heard it is ok to veto if the trade will help the wrong team.
If it’s a chump dump yeah
Haha. I just meant if it helps any team do better than me.
Though most teams don’t need any help with that this year.
wonder if other rcl’ers look at w, k and save per inning rather that totals to estimate standings position this time of year.
the vladdy for cj abes was oak jr on the cj side. i think he did well there. had xtra corners and short in the middle.
i’m a big CJ fan this year, definitely a good move if he needed a middle
