The rookies are coming, the rookies are coming! If you’re like me, you’re looking at your roster right about now and trying to figure out where in the world all these guys are going to play. I’d love to grab Vidal Brujan and sit on him until he’s called up, but as it is I have Joey Wendle, Jazz Chisholm and now Brendan Rodgers battling with Marcus Semien, Dansby Swanson and Francisco Lindor (who I drafted way too much of) for playing time. When Moustakas gets healthy, I’m going to have real middle infield trouble. It’s a good problem to have, but it makes playing rookie hot potato very difficult. Do we cut bait with Wendle despite his heater? Drop Dansby despite that lineup? At least Jarren Duran is in the outfield, a spot with slightly more lineup flexibility. How are you all handling the game of rookie hot potato? Are you just hoping you can beat your league mates to the wire when the time comes? Do you have a similar lineup crunch you hope will work itself out via trade or injury? Are you grabbing and holding or constantly adding and dropping every night hoping your rookie is rostered when they get the call? All of this is a good reminder to leave those last couple roster spots on offense able to be churned over. There is no issue with leaving an RCL draft knowing you’ll be hitting the waiver wire for your OF5, UTIL and CI/MI spots. There are players every year that pop from the waiver wire, just keep those eyes peeled. Right now, point your eyes below for the rest of the week that was, week 7 in the RCLs:
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Son remains atop the ‘Perts League standings, this week bumping back up over the 100 point mark. Coolwhip, the nearest competitor added 5.5 points this week and sits just 4 points back with 97. These two seem poised for a battle all season long.
I did my best to assert myself into the league lead mix, but even with a league leading 12 points gained this week, I’m still hanging out 16 points behind Coolwhip in third. My offense decided to wake up this week, as I led the league in Runs, Homers and RBIs while also leading the league in strikeouts for the week.
On the downside, we had Cram It losing seven points this week and falling to last place. Crammy’s having a time of it this year. Looking at Cram’s draft, Yelich, Lindor, Arenado, Ketel Marte, George Springer, Blackmon and Stanton, you can start to see why. There’s a lot of injuries and underperformers in that group.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
That’s now three straight weeks for Nicholas Mariano at the top of the RazzSlam overall standings.
Yatta and Gunk Squad each leap over Brian Seymour to claim second and third respectively as last week’s second place team, Sammy Reid falls all the way to sixth.
Donkey Teeth keeps putting in work for Team Razzball, as he marches back towards the top spot, he jumps up from ninth to fifth this week.
Ryan Owen falls one spot this week and Joseph Bond moves up from tenth to eighth, swapping places with Zach Meyer.
Finally, Mitch Clearfield, who you may know better as RCL legend, Backdoor Splitters/Cutters/etcers makes his top ten debut this week, proving he is more than just an RCL wonder.

The top five got all shaken up this week with Son’s ‘Perts League team reclaiming number one overall from Laura, as his Writer’s League team slips down to fifth overall. Laura falls to third this week with Team mpaltrow leapfrogging her for second overall. My squad made a decent leap this week, moving from eighth to fourth, but Coolwhip made an even bigger jump from 17th last week to sixth.
Orlando Calrissians gained two spots this week to finish in seventh while Mo Mohicans fell two places to eighth.
Rock Meet Bottom gained one spot this week, moving into ninth and Disgustipated rounds out the top ten this week with a three position slip from seventh last week.

The trade market in the RCLs stayed hot this week with 12 trades processing. Michael Conforto, Jordan Romano and Yermin Mercedes each moved twice this week and we had two big trades with Soto and pieces being moved for deGrom and Mullins and Walker Buehler and pieces being moved for J.D. Martinez and DL stash in Severino.
You’ll note my trade this week as I was dealing with a major roster crunch. Owning Yordan Alvarez so many places has made it tough to own these UTIL-only guys like Mercedes. I dropped Mercedes in one league because of this, but held him here, hoping for a trade. It’s not the best trade for me, but I need some steals and opening up a roster spot is valuable in itself.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 64 – Fat Fuckin’ Babies (Cougs R Us)
HR –28 – Tears for Fiers (RCL 2021 (#19))
RBIs – 74 – Stl Squat Cobblers (ECFBL)
SB – 12 – Fart Butt (RCL 2021 (#18)) & Stl Squat Cobblers (RCL 2021 (#27))
AVG – .366 – Team mpaltrow (RCL 2021 (#1))
K – 123 – 6ft Away Sucka (RCL 2021 (#12))
W – 10 – The Ball Club (RCL 2021 (#26))
SV – 10 – Drunc Orks (RCL 2021 (#8))
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 0.70 – CRAB ANGER (Crab Army) (in 50.1 IP)
WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.626 – Silver Spar Squadron (RCL 2021 (#1)) (in 51.2 IP)
This week RCLers decided to go out and break ALL THE RECORDS. We set new weekly high water marks in Runs, HRs, AVG, Strikeouts, Wins (finally!) and ERA. STL Squat Cobblers put two separate teams in the weekly leaders this week. FFB continues their tear up the overall standings with another big offensive week. It’s crazy to me that in a week with a ton of offense that we also set a weekly low in ERA. Apparently the good pitchers pitched well and everyone else got hammered. Big thanks to The Ball Club for finally breaking that nine-way tie for the Wins record.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: Hammerin’ Hank RIP
League: RCL 2021 (#10)
Stats: AVG: .307, R: 56, HR: 21, RBI: 48, SB: 2
IP: 91, ERA: 2.87, WHIP: 1.033, K: 82, W: 9, SV: 4
Summary: Hammerin’ Hank would be proud of this effort. HHRIP put on a show on both sides of the ball this week and moved up 100+ spots in the overall standings because of it. Jesse Winker had himself a week, pacing the offense. Looking back at the weekly numbers and Winker had 6 dingers…and seven RBIs, that just seems statistically improbable. Anyway, on the pitching side it was all the big guns, Darvish, Fried, Grienke and Musgrove with some Alzolay thrown in for good measure. The only real knock on HHRIP’s week is only two steals and a subpar K rate, but that’s picking nits and when you move up 100 spots in the overall standings and take the lead in your league, you’re doing something right. Nice work!
