*BLOWS TRUMPET WITH GUSTO*

The time has come, and we have our very first Razzball Commenter Leagues overall standings update of the year!  BIG thank you to VinWins for collecting the data and to Rudy for plugging it all into the bots and getting the kinks worked out.  For those who can’t remember or didn’t read my first article of the season, we’ll be updating the standings on the first Monday of each month.  So, what did our first update of the year tell us?  Who is leading the RCL universe after the first 6 weeks?  Let’s find out!

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Kirksey had a great week and gained 13 points to retake the lead in week six.  Kirksey led the league in every pitching category and also HRs.  I think all his hitters faced my pitching staff, unbelievable.  Coolwhip had the biggest downswing this week, dropping 7.5 points and dropping two spots to seventh.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

The top two held on this week but brocnessmonster shot up from ninth to third to push Vottoman Empire off the podium.  Joel Hammerman had the most points this week, picking up 734 and moving up 44 spots to 16th overall.  William Crews has the biggest standings jump, moving up 89 spots to 75th overall thanks to a 731 point week.

I usually do a top 10 here, but I like the sounds of top 20 for our first update, and maybe that will stick.  Congrats to NCPhilly for claiming the top spot in our first official standings update.  I’m currently DFL in RCL 33, but I’ll do my part to keep that LCI high for you!

Knoche and Laura are holding things down in the top ten for Team Razzball.  Laura is an absolute beast, taking on NOTLZ like a queen.

Not Enough rounds out our top ten, currently sitting atop another very challenging league, the RCL Champions League, COUGS R US.

Last year’s overall champ, Gunk Squad is back in the top 20, sitting at 14th overall.  Kirksey is leading the Perts League at the moment and rounds out our top 20.

A big, hearty congrats to our initial top teams!

It was another busy week for trading as the RCLs saw ELEVEN trades go down, three of which involved Marcus Semien.  Some owners are bailing while others are buying.  I was offered a deal involving Semien yesterday and declined it.  His statcast page is pretty blue, and he’s 34, but on the plus side, his speed looks decent, and he has been a bit unlucky so far.  Some positive regression should be coming, but I still don’t think it will more valuable than say…Jackson Holliday from here on out.  That said, I don’t mind these last two deals for Semien.  I think BringerOfRain absolutely won their trade, though.

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 62 – Not Enough (COUGS R US)

HR –23 – markpowers (RCL 1)

RBIs – 70 – BillyAngel (RCL 18)

SB – 20 – milothecat (NOTLZ)

AVG – .352 – baugh151 (RCL 20)

K – 101 – Disco Demolition (RCL 13)

W – 9 – Disco Demolition (RCL 13)

SV –  11 – Texas Flood (RCL 21) & Texas Leaguer (RCL 25)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.45 – Des Morts-Vivants (ECFBL) (in 43.1 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.766 – Password is taco (RCL 26) (in 45.2 IP)

Dico Demolition tied the wins record, bringing us to a six-way tie, and BillyAngel tied the RBI mark.  Baugh151 decimated the batting average mark and will be a tough one to beat.

Some more stats from the week, thanks to VinWins:

27 teams had an ERA below 2.00. 44 teams were above 6.00.

5 teams hit under .200  (13 last week)

59 teams hit over .300.  (28 last week)

21.2% of the schedule has been completed. 212 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 296 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

Vin also noted the pace some teams are on so far.  Ten teams are currently on pace to break the SB record of 338, set last year. Gilsonschmilsson (RCL 22) would shatter it with 387 steals.

JamScandal (NOTLZ) is on pace for 434 home runs and 1285 runs batted in. While these would not be records, it would beat last year’s numbers by 45 HRs and  106 RBIs.

Vin also took our April stats and created a Team of the Month, which you can view HERE  Vin and I are nowhere to be found on that list..

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Disco Demolition

League: RCL 13

Stats:   AVG: .305, R: 44, HR: 16, RBI: 57, SB: 6

IP: 112, ERA: 3.05, WHIP: 1.268, K: 101, W: 9, SV: 6

Summary: Disco Demolition was more than just a lot of IP, they also hit pretty well this week.  The WHIP could have been a little lower, but it’s hard to argue with the ERA and counting stats.  I’d sure take 100 IP of a 3.05 ERA on every one of my teams right now.  DD decided some streaming was needed as they had the 2nd fewest IP in the league, and the fewest strikeouts. 18 starts later, they had lowered their ERA from 5.07 to 4.36 and gained 4.5 points in strikeouts. Reese Olson had 15 K’s in his two starts and an ERA of 2.38. Noah Cameron had an impressive debut, allowing just five baserunners in 6.1 shutout innings. Olson and Cameron also picked up wins, as did Ben Brown, Jonathan Cannon, Jeffrey Springs, Griffin Canning, and David Peterson.  Emmanuel Clase chipped in three saves, and Raisel Iglesias added two. Clase also earned a victory.  Kyle Stowers was the surprise offensive leader, hitting .421 with four home runs and ten runs batted in. Geraldo Perdomo and Freddie Freeman each hit .476, with Perdomo contributing eight RBI and three steals and Freeman two home runs and seven batted in. Jorge Polanco, Matt Chapman, and Kyle Tucker each knocked two out of the park as well.  Overall, DD gained nine points and moved from fourth to third in RCL 13.  Very nice.

I think I’m in last place in every RCL I’m in right now. Guess I need school to be out so I can focus on the important stuff.
