Hello, welcome.  We are two weeks from the end of the baseball season, and like Joey Bart said this weekend, baseball seems like a slog, and then all of a sudden, the season is over.  It’s a little shocking that in just two weeks, we’ll be done staring at lineups, match-ups, and trends and instead will be focusing on the playoffs.  As we wind down the Razzball Commenter Leagues, we have a two week Master Standings update.  I thought it would help the drama to have an update to see where our teams stand.  Spoiler alert: it was a good call as there is a change at the top of the standings!  Buckle up, get streaming, and hit that 1400 IP limit (or at the very least make sure you hit 1000 IP), it’s a two week sprint to the finish, and anything can happen.  Let’s get to the data:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

High drama in Perts with two weeks to go.  Kirksey gained four points, and Son stayed still, putting Kirksey ahead by two points.  It’s gonna be a nailbiter as Son looks to go back to back and Kirksey looks to win this thing making less than 30 total moves all year.  Bonkers.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

That’s a wrap!  Congrats to our winners:

1st place: Robert Goldman

Runner-up: Sean Knurek

Consolation: Dan Richards

E-mails have been sent to the winners to claim their prizes.  Nice work, everyone.  This format continues to befuddle me, but I’ll be keep trying.  See you all next season!

Oh, the dramz!  Longballers isn’t going down without a fight; they had an incredible week (more on that below) that pushed them to 114 league points.  If that holds, Joe will have his work cut out for him.  The downside to being in these high LCI leagues is that no one quits, and a lot can change in the final two weeks as everyone races and scraps for every point.

There wasn’t a TON of movement, Joe’s third team fell six spots to drop out of the top ten, and a couple teams grabbed 5 or 6 spots to bump into the top 20, including Squat Cobblers getting a second team in the top 20.  Squat Cobblers is also making a push with their ECFBL team and could be another manager with three in the top 20 when we finish things out.  Squat Cobblers don’t mess around, whether it be pies or fantasy baseball.

Vin took the time to look at each of our top 20 teams and see who their first three draft picks were, pretty interesting!

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Longballers

League: RCL 35

Stats:   AVG: .233, R: 47, HR: 16, RBI: 39, SB: 11

IP: 90.2, ERA: 1.69, WHIP: 0.684, K: 99, W: 8, SV: 5

Summary: The hitting wasn’t much to write home about, but the pitching was insane this week for Longballers, who was one of five teams with eight wins.  The outstanding starting pitching carried the Longballers to the top of the Master Standings, pushing them to 114 league points and opening a 22.5 point lead in RCL 35. Tyler Glasnow (15 strikeouts) and Garrett Crochet (22 Ks) each earned two victories. Kevin Gausman threw a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts. Joey Cantillo and Jack Flaherty also allowed 0 runs and picked up wins. Jhoan Duran struck out six in three shutout innings, earning three saves. Aaron Judge hit .450 with five solo home runs and nine runs scored to lead the offense. Nick Kurtz added three long balls and drove in seven. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Dansby Swanson each stole three bases. Chandler Simpson hit .400, but had just one stolen base. Jung Hoo Lee was added for one game and contributed a home run, two runs, and two runs batted in. Contributing nothing was Eugenio Suarez, who was 0 for 27.  It’s going to be a fun finish for RCL glory!

The top team that had the first overall pick is Dunphy’s Joint Venture (RCL 34) who started their team with Shohei Ohtani, Paul Skenes, and Ronald Acuna Jr. They are currently in 28th place.

Thanks for the mention Matt! Oui Cobblers sure do appreciate it! Benefitting greatly from both win and save luck. Very fortunate. And you are correct, mostly: We do NOT mess around..unless of course, it involves squashing pies with a Big Dumper! (Ewwwwww!)

SquatCobblers has a top 5 team despite drafting Riley. Gunk Squad running away with The Laura Holt Challenge after drafting Riley as well, though at least they took him in the 3rd round. TripleBs top 10 with Michael Harris. RCLs are definitely a format that just about any draft can be overcome.

16 home runs and 11 steals kept Longballers’ hitting from being a total disaster – still top 25 for the offensive-challenged week. Creative Chaos (RCL 11) was the top hitting team with 44 Runs/16 HR/46 RBI/16 SB and an average of .261.
