It’s hard to believe there’s only one week to go in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  This marathon of a season has seen us torture ourselves for 24 long weeks, agonizing over batty calls, dipping into the streamers with mixed results, cursing players, and praising others.  We’ve ignored our families, our jobs, and our personal hygiene and now it all comes down to the final week.  You may smell like stale Hot Cheetos, but dadgummit, that virtual fantasy trophy is all yours!  Speaking of trophies, Wake Up is looking to lock down that overall RCL Championship trophy.  His lead is holding and he’s looking for a perfecto to finish things out.  The LCI may drop a little in RCL #6 as some teams don’t reach the IP limit, but a perfect score will overcome.  It’s going to be a fun finish! A quick note on scheduling, with this weird Wednesday finish to league play I’m going to wait and put out my final RCL post the following week.  So, no RCL Update next week, final post the following week.  It seemed silly to do a week 25 post and then have the season finish the next day, so this tidies things up a bit.  As for this week, we’ll go over some great weeks, check-in on the ‘Perts League finish and more in the week that was week 24:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

No changes in the standings aside from JKJ and Malamoney swapping ninth and tenth.  However, in a shocking development, Son lost 5.5 points this week and we now have an epic battle for second place.  Son sits with 86.5 while both Laura (+2) and Cram It (+1.5) have 85.  Laura is known for late-season swooping and Cram It will claw for every point, so this should be quite a race!

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

One week remaining in the Razzslam and it’s Thomas McGrath holding the lead at the moment.  Thomas gained 100 more points than any other team this week to vault into the top spot.  We’ll see if the four point lead on Bob Cyphers can hold!

Young Guns continue their tear up the standings, moving into fifth and pushing Fred Garvin MP to sixth.

Jersey Pine 5 moves up one spot this week to seventh as AllRice slips two places to eighth.

Asynda Boil remains in ninth and rounding us out this week is Los Boricualizers who is also currently battling in the Razzslam top ten!  Quite a finish to the year for Los Boricualizers.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Hoboknives

League: RCL 2022 (#17)

Stats:   AVG: .266, R: 58, HR: 18, RBI: 62, SB: 11

IP: 80.1, ERA: 2.02, WHIP: 1.13, K: 74, W: 5, SV: 8

Summary: Hoboknives had a WEEK, near the top in almost every offensive category, and notching a ton of IP with some lovely ratios.  Steven Kwan went absolutely ham with two dingers and four steals while Joey Meneses launched three dingers and swiped a bag, just like we figured back in March.  On the pitching side, it was Dylan Cease pitching 12 innings to the tune of a 0.75 ERA and coming away with zero wins while Kyle Bradish went near complete game shutout.  It’s the most unlikely of stars in September!  The big week pushed Hoboknives from eighth to fourth in RCL #17 and into the top 100 (89th) in the overall standings.  It’s still not too late to make a move!
