I hope everyone has recovered from their Labor Day festivities. The unofficial end of summer means we’re into the nitty-gritty of Razzball Commenter League action. My weekend was loaded up with fantasy football drafts (thanks DT, Blair & Son for helping me cram at the last minute) but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about baseball. We certainly haven’t lost track of our RCLs, in fact, this is the point where we’re pulling out all the stops to scrape up every last point we can manage. We’ve got a bug in the Master Standings at the moment that is making the top spot look a lot closer to the pack than it is. If we don’t watch out, it’s going to be a runaway victory for our overall leader. Who is that leader you ask? It’s a name you’ll recognize if you read this column at all. We’ll cover that, the rest of the top 10, and all of the week that was week 22 below:
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
The top six of the ‘Perts League remained unchanged this week. We’re all still looking up at Son, despite Laura’s best efforts. Laura led or co-led the league in every offensive category except batting average this past week. Laura also led the league in Wins…again.
Despite Laura’s amazing week, B_Don was the biggest gainer this week, picking up 3.5 points and moving up from eighth to seventh. JKJ and Ralph were our biggest losers, each losing three points. Ralph falls into DFL with his effort.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
And then, there were ten. Here’s how the championship looks after the first week of competition. We still have two weeks to go for Coolwhip to improve and try to bring this thing home for Team Razz. Nicholas Mariano remains in the top spot, about 60 points up on the next competitor. That’s not a very big cushion in this league though.

For those too lazy to check the MASTER STANDINGS, I present to you, the current top 10

Like I mentioned in the lede, take this top ten with a grain of salt. We still have the bug in the import that is taking any team with over 1,000 RBIs and giving them one. We’ll get that sorted out, don’t you worry. The fact is, FFB is leading the Master Standings despite the formula thinking he only has one RBI. He’s doing so well, he could have one RBI and still be whipping us. I’m frankly, a little concerned about what their score is going to look like when this gets straightened out. Not only are their Master Points affected, but the LCI of Cougs is affected as well. Milo the Cat took a big hit this week as they crested the 1,000 RBI plateau as well. Next week’s Standings update should be very interesting.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 64 – Auto-21 (RCL 2021 (#18))
HR –27 – Laura Holt (PERTS LEAGUE)
RBIs – 73 – Laura Holt (PERTS LEAGUE)
SB – 12 – Pachoka Pitx (RCL 2021 (#19))
AVG – .330 – Richardo (Writers League)
K – 85 – Dunphy’s Joint Venture (RCL 2021 (#23))
W – 9 – Team kbroderius (RCL 2021 (#32))
SV – 11 – Fat Fuckin Babies (Cougs R Us)
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.31 – Savoy Special (RCL 2021 (#5)) (in 48 IP)
WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.731 – Team sipo (RCL 2021 (#27)) (in 52 IP)
We came darn close to breaking three offensive records and the saves record this week. Laura was a one-woman wrecking crew, missing the HR record by one and the RBI record by two. Even though her team fell out of the top ten overall, she has a team in 12th and a team in 16th and with how her teams are surging, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if both of them finished the year in the top ten.
FFB is just out here leading the world and racking up saves like a baby in a bathtub full of butter.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: MattTruss223
League: DFSers Anonymous
Stats: AVG: .261, R: 57, HR: 23, RBI: 66, SB: 7
IP: 60.1, ERA: 2.54, WHIP: 0.854, K: 67, W: 5, SV: 4
Summary: I am really proud of the way this team has come together the past few weeks. Back on August 22nd, this team was in eighth place in DFSers Anonymous, a money league I created for a group of DFS degenerates to play season-long. I was embarrassed to be doing so poorly in my own league, but apparently, the team was just biding its time. As of this update, the team was tied for fourth and only two points out of third, the final cashing position. I’d love to call attention to a couple of team leaders this past week, but it’s been a total effort, including plenty of streaming from the waiver wire. Frank Schwindel has been a welcome addition to the team and Ranger Suarez has settled in nicely next to Max Scherzer. Hopefully, this team didn’t peak too soon and can finish strong.
