I think my last Razzball Commenter Leagues update melted the site or spurned a bot attack the equivalent of ships heading to Troy.  Does that make me Helen?  The words that launched a million bots?  I have no idea, but we do hope that is behind us.

It’s still the silly season for our leagues at this point, where we can have huge swings in the standings based on 2-3 good (or bad) days of stats.  So, fear not if you’re off to a slow start.  One visit to Coors and your team can turn on a dime.  Of course, it can also turn on a Justin Verlander stream (raises hand), so, give and take.  Our first Master Standings run won’t be until the first week in May but VinWins has once scoured the standings and pulled all the awesome data for a weekly round-up and we’ll do mini round-ups in the weeks between.  Thanks, Vin!  Let’s take a look at what we’ve got from the week that was, week 2:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Mike C took over the top spot this week gaining seven spots and a league-best 16 points.  He did this on the back of a .285 batting average for the week along with 5 wins, and 79 Ks in 64.2 IP.  Mike was the only team to gain double-digit points this week but THREE teams lost double-digit points, Cram It (-13.5), Blair (-13.5), and myself (-12.5).  Ouch.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

We have Razzslam standings!  RCL player, DFresh currently leads the pack, just ahead of overall Main Event winner and NFBC HOFer, Clark Olson.  The Great Knoche and The Lineup Builder are holding it down for Team Razzball!  Nice work!

**REMEMBER, TONIGHT IS THE FIRST FAAB PERIOD FOR RAZZSLAM! There are only two FAAB periods for the Razzslam, so cut that dead weight now and go add Zac Veen (or don’t cut him like you may have last week) and Chase Dollander (even Rockies pitchers score points sometimes).  All points are retroactive to week 1, so you could see some wild swings as people bust out the pocketbook.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
4/3/2025 RCL 35
Vincognito traded Ian Happ & Tommy Edman to Little Bears for Jasson Dominguez & Cam Smith
4/3/2025 RCL 27
MonoStero traded Pablo Lopez to Beisbolcats for Luis Robert Jr.

Just two trades this week as everyone tries not to panic.  Vin must have had FOMO trading away Cam Smith because he traded for him in another league, also for Tommy Edman!

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 71 – Freebirds (RCL 28)

HR –25 – mmdan112 (RCL 22), Triple Crown Royal (RCL 33), & 1-800-BETTSOFF (NOTLZ)

RBIs – 70 – saba22 (RCL 35)

SB – 20 – Nocler11 (DFSers Anonymous)

AVG – .334 – Razzball Maks (RCL 35)

K – 86 – Halcyon (RCL 1)

W – 8 – MasterBlaster76 (RCL 2)

SV –  10 – Freebirds (RCL 28) & Little Bears (RCL 35)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 0.89 – Ptown High Heat (RCL 12) (in 40.1 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.73 – Lindorphins (RCl 30) (in 50.2 IP)

RCL 35 came to play!  Three teams on the leaderboard is impressive stuff.  Freebirds also had an impressive week hitting the leaderboard in Runs and Saves.  Very nice!  What you see are the new weekly leaders in the clubhouse (minus WHIP, which Vladdy Fishing might carry through to the end of the season).

Vin also had some more fun stats for the week:

28 teams had an ERA under 2

19 teams had an ERA over 6

7 teams hit under .200

7 teams hit over .300

5.9% of the schedule has been completed. 59 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 82 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

MOVES:

38 teams have made 0 moves.

The average # of moves is 11.

The most active team:

51 moves: Dunphy’s Joint Venture (RCL 34)

In addition to leading the RCLs in batting average, Razzball Maks also had an impressive strikeout week:

Razzball Maks (RCL 35) had 13.9 K/9 (81 K/52.33 IP)

Cristopher Sanchez 11 IP / 16 K

Logan Gilbert 5 IP / 10 K

Jose Soriano 5.1 IP / 9 K

Hunter Brown 6 IP / 8 K

Max Meyer 6 IP / 8 K

Trevor Megill 3 IP / 6 K

Mason Montgomery 2 IP / 6 K

MacKenzie Gore 5 IP / 5 K

Gavin Williams 3 IP / 5 K

Hayden Birdsong 4 IP / 4 K

Andres Munoz 2 IP / 4 K

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: mmdan112

League: RCL 22

Stats:   AVG: .293, R: 57, HR: 25, RBI: 60, SB: 7

IP: 57.2, ERA: 2.03, WHIP: 1.145, K: 61, W: 6, SV: 4

Summary: Leading the RCLs in HR is usually a good way to get yourself to TOW honors.  A dash of dazzling ratios will all but guarantee it.  Mmdan112 is off to a blazing start, hitting 103.5 league points to open up a 25.5 point lead on the rest of RCL 22.  Wowza!  Jose Ramirez (.421/4HR/1 SB) and Logan O’Hoppe (.381/4 HR/8 RBI) paced the offense, but there were plenty of other impressive contributions. Pete Alonso, Jackson Merrill, and Brent Rooker each added 3 home runs, with Alonso also driving in 11.  Jung Hoo Lee and Jordan Walker stole 2 bases apiece.  Six pitchers recorded wins – David Peterson (12 K), Bowden Francis (10 K), Max Fried, Tylor Megill, Hunter Brown, and Josh Hader. Hader had 1 save as well, as did Justin Martinez, while Ryan Walker saved 2. Between them, the three closers threw 9 scoreless innings and struck out 12.  Dang!  Nice work, mmdan112!  The trick now is holding on.

Slowest start to a season I’ve ever had, across 3 of my 4 leagues. Right there with you, Truss. Somehow I’m calm with patience, as the quality players are there, they just haven’t started hitting yet.

I regretted that trade as I was doing it. Panda had control over my brain, I believe. I have to hope Jasson outdoes all expectations.
