Just a quick hitter this week with a three day week thanks to the All-Star break. I hope you are all feeling recharged and ready to lock in for the final ten weeks in the Razzball Commenter Leagues. With no baseball scores to check obsessively, many managers looked to make some trades this past week. We had eleven deals processed this week, with four more processing today that will be in next week’s update. We also had some impressive numbers put up in just three days. We’ll look at that and take a quick look around the RCL universe for the week that was, week 17.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Despite a three day week, there was plenty of movement in Perts! Knoche and Coolwhip each dropped 6.5 points this week thanks to 7.08 and 5.72 ERAs, respectively. They both dropped two places in the standings, spots that were picked up by Cram It, B_don, Grey, and Marmos. Marmos had the biggest gain of the week, 3.5 points.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Alright, we’re officially in playoff/cutline mode in the Razzslam! If you weren’t top five in your league, see you next year. Our championship bracket top ten includes Taylor Case still holding it down. Rudy made a nice push in the short week to move into eighth overall!
The first round will be from week 17-19, and I can never remember how many teams from the Championship Tier make it, but I do know the top five from the WC tier make it to the next round. It might be everyone in the Championship Tier makes it forward. Here are the current WC standings:
I know there is a cutdown to 20 teams for the final round (top 18 in Championship and top two in WC). I guess we’ll see what happens in two weeks!
TRADES
All the trades that have gone down in the past week. Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Deals, deals, deals! It was Cristopher Sanchez and Chandler Simpson week, it seems, as teams look to make a move in the stolen base category and grab an All-Star snub. It’s also a great time to trade middle-of-the-road closers for a return before they get traded to be middle relievers and lose all value. I love Backdoor Cutters trade for Logan Webb, for example. JamScandal currently leads the entire RCL in HRs, so he can spare Schwarber there—still, great looking deal for MellonBallers.

No records this week with the short week and lack of innings, but 16 dingers in three days is insane. Feels good seeing Vin and me peppered on the board with Vin landing three teams. RCL 34 continues to play tough, posting three teams this week.
61.4% of the schedule has been completed. 614 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 859 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.
VinWins also took a look at all our current leaders and the pace they are on vs the all-time RCL records. Also included is last year’s totals for comparison. In a slow week, let’s take a look:

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: cjsullivan3
League: RCL 28
Stats: AVG: .270, R: 28, HR: 11, RBI: 22, SB: 4
IP: 48, ERA: 2.25, WHIP: 1.292, K: 49, W: 6, SV: 0
Summary: No saves!? What is this is a three-day week? Oh, it is, well then. In just three days, CJ moved from seventh to fourth in RCL 28. Impressive numbers all around in a very abbreviated week. Eugenio Suarez and Luis Robert Jr. were the offensive leaders for CJ. Both hit .500, with Gino blasting four home runs and driving in seven, while Luis Robert Jr. had three steals and seven runs scored. Willy Adames added a couple solo shots. On the pitching side, only Jesus Luzardo (spell check suggested Jesus Hazardous, appropriately enough) performed poorly. Gavin Williams led the way with a win and 11 strikeouts. Chris Bassitt, Garrett Crochet, Merrill Kelly, Jose Soriano, and Kris Bubic all added wins. Of this group, only Luzardo was drafted by the team. Crochet (along with Kyle Tucker) was acquired May 21 in a trade for Yordan Alvarez, Matthew Liberatore, and Francisco Lindor! Well played.
Want to be my internet pal? That’s kinda creepy, but you can follow me on the bluest of skies: @matttruss.bsky.social
Chandler Simpson would look awfully nice on someone else’s roster in Perts.
The good news is the only categories I need to improve there are HR, RBI, AVG, W, SV, and ratios.
Ugh.
haha
Didn’t know Luis Robert Jr. was still alive! Dumped him a couple of months ago. Now I see he’s contributing positively to the Team of the Week?
And to my 10th place team in that league!
Hi Matt,
I have struggled since the all start break I can remember a quote from Aaron Rodgers, after the first four games of the season, “Relax”.
Please don’t tell me wife, who is nurse, that I used a quote from Rodgers,
Below is my lineup and pitching staff. Please let me know, if I should relax, or look to make any changes. Any ideas about changes to my hitters or pitchers would be much appreciated.
