Happy trade deadline week RCLers.  This is the final week you have to trade for some steals, saves, power or help out those pitching ratios with a big time name.  It’s at this point in the season that you can really see some overpaying going on. Javier Baez for Kirby Yates? Possibly. Nelson Cruz for Jarrod Dyson?  It all depends on team needs and where the most points can be gained. Remember, there are no extra points for winning a category by 50. Take a look at the overall standings in your league and see where teams are bunched together.  If there’s an opportunity to leap over multiple teams by taking a category by storm, make your move now. If you’re in second place right now, make that move for first, play to win, go out and make it happen. The Razzball Commenter League trading deadline is Thursday, August 1, at midnight (well, 11:59 technically).  I expect there will be a flurry of activity to break down for next week’s update. This week however, we have five trades to look at as well as a new leader in the ‘Perts League. Our favorite number cruncher, Rudy Gamble has taken the week off, so our update will be a little shorter this week with no Standings and/or stats to comb through.  Come read about what we do have to go over in the week that was, week 17 in the Razzball Commenter Leagues:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

We might not have team of the week data to go over this week, but I can say without a doubt that Cram It would have been in contention.  Crammy led the ‘Perts League in runs (66), HRs (28), RBIs (78), average (.304), saves (6) and ERA (2.29 in 55 IP). That has all the makings of a TOW contender.  With all that said, it blows my mind that Cram It only was able to pick up two points in the standings this week. Those two points were good enough to move him one spot to third, but with a week like that I would have been looking for more gains.  This comes on the back of a week of gaining 5.5 points and two spots in the standings so Cram It is certainly trending in the right direction. Stay hot my friend.

Donkey Teeth and Roto-Wan were the biggest gainers this week, each picking up 3.5 points.  Donkey Teeth made up the most ground in the standings, moving up two places to fourth. Like that show you and your friend saw in Tijuana, that’s one hot Donkey.

Malamoney slipped up this week, dropping 5.5 points and falling to sixth while B_Don lost the most ground, dropping two places to fifth.

We also have a change at the top this week as I was able to leap-frog Grey after a three week stay in second.  Things are so close in this league, I fully expect to be in fifth next week though.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
7/25/2019 RCL #2
Team DFresh traded Kris Bryant & Joey Lucchesi to Syndergaardians of the Galaxy for Blake Snell & Amed Rosario
7/25/2019 Perts League
Grey traded Kenley Jansen to Donkey Teeth for Shane Bieber
7/26/2019 RCL #2
Team DFresh traded Mike Trout to Team wayne834 for Gerrit Cole
7/27/2019 Cougs R US
Amphibious Rodents traded Clayton Kershaw to Kriza for Nelson Cruz
7/27/2019 NOTLZ
Howie Kendricks traded Shane Greene to Love My IPAs & ERAs for Shin-soo Choo

That’s just rotten luck for Team DFresh having pulled off a trade for Blake Snell two days before the news of his elbow broke.  Ugh. That led to the trading of Mike Trout for Gerrit Cole. Desperate times I suppose. We’ll see if his offense can hold up after losing Trout and Bryant.  Yikes.

Grey made a trade!  Kenley Jansen for Shane Bieber with Donkey Teeth, that is a real molly-whopper of a trade!  This helps Grey grab some quality innings though, which he can use to catch me in ERA and WHIP and really put me away.  Darn you Donkey! DT is tied for last in saves too, so this is a real win-win all around. Just not for me.

Nothing else really jumps out this week in the trades.  I’m really hoping for some hum-dingers next week. We’ll be back then with two weeks worth of RCL data to wade through as well as a slew of trades to analyze.  You won’t want to miss it!
