Happy halfway point, my fellow Razzball Commenter Leaguers!  While we typically use the All-Star Break to mark the halfway point, this week is the real deal.  If you were exactly on pace with your innings pitched, you would have 700 on the button.  You can use that as a nice gauge to see if you need to be streaming your buns off the next 13 weeks or if you can chill out a bit and wait for the choice match-ups.  This week, in addition to the weekly leaders, we will take a look at our halfway leaders.  It will be a quick shoutout to those teams that have started hot in each of the roto categories.  Obviously, our team of the halfway point is the leader of our Master Standings.  Who might that be you ask? If you’ve been reading along, you likely know, but let’s take a look at that and the rest of the week that was week 13 in the Razzball Commenter Leagues:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

There was very little action this week in the ‘Perts League as we maintained the status quo.  Blair and Steve swapped spots at the bottom of the standings, a handful of teams gained a couple points and Grey was the biggest loser this week, dropping 4.5 points but remaining in eighth place.  Grey managed a 5.14 ERA this week, but that wasn’t the worst of the week.  Coolwhip hit a 5.76.  Does that make you feel better about your week?

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Speaking of status quo, the top ten of the Razzslam seems to never change, just get rearranged a little here and there.  If I’m reading correctly, our first playoff cut is happening soon, July 20th I think.  After that, the top three from each league will be battling out while the rest fight to get back into the playoffs via consolation round.  So, make you move this week!  The teams in the picture above have nothing to worry about.  Andy Behrens is making his move though, he was the biggest point earner and biggest standings mover this week with 727 points moving him up 43 places to 148th overall.

Cheddar Goblins traded Michael Harris to Hungry Like the Wolf for Camilo Doval

Nine trades were completed this week with some surprising deals sprinkled in.  Verdugo has been waiver fodder in a couple of my RCLs, so it’s a bit surprising to see him traded for Nasty Nestor.  As a huge Acuna, I don’t love that deal, but I could see it if I put on my objective glasses.  Sad Sad Leroy seems to have pulled a fast one on AllRice, but we’ll see.  I’ve dropped Yoan everywhere and Jon Berti for all that is very very nice.  I dealt Urias for Cruz and was all giddy when Urias blew up only to see Grey had Cruz as a sell on Friday.  Womp womp.  Whatever, give me a .190 batting average if you give me 20/20 the rest of the way.  I like Vegans nabbing Wheeler in the second deal to go down in DFSers this week.

We have no repeat teams on this list for the first time in a couple of seasons.  FFB is a perennial name on these leaderboards though.

A couple of quick notes as we compare to 2021 at the halfway point: Our leaders have 24 fewer runs, 39 fewer dingers, 28 fewer RBIs, 16 fewer steals, 4 points less in batting average, 119 fewer strikeouts, and 0.36 higher ERA.  Eesh.  Hey, the saves leader has more saves so far!  I’m not really sure what this all means, maybe just noise, but I always think it’s fun to look at.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Danfu

League: Crab Army

Stats:   AVG: .252, R: 47, HR: 20, RBI: 49, SB: 8

IP: 72.2, ERA: 2.85, WHIP: 1.06, K: 65, W: 2, SV: 7

Summary: Today’s case study in “wins are dumb” is brought to you by Danfu and his 72.2 IP with awesome ratios and only two wins to show for it.  Brutal.  Meanwhile, Grey had 75.1 IP this week with a 5.14 ERA and 1.301 WHIP and secured 4 wins…ooooooh kay.  Anywho, win luck aside, Danfu had a great week with great ratios, awesome hitting stats and a boatload of saves.  Kyle Schwarber and Michael Harris led the offense and Sandy Alcantara and Adam Wainwright did great things on the pitching side despite only earning one win in their combined three starts.  The effort earned Danfu 13 points in Crab Army and moved him from sixth to fourth.  Nice week!
