Four weeks ago I wasn’t sure this moment would come, but here we are in the midst of Razzball Commenter League draft season and all is right with the baseball world. The rest of the world? *Makes grimacing face*…well, at least there’s baseball. The RCLs seem to be gaining steam now too, every day I check the numbers more and more people have signed up for leagues without me needing to blast the invite out to the masses on Twitter, maybe my desperate plea for managers last week did the trick, or maybe you all are just procrastinators like me and all waited until the last minute. I respect that. We are down to about 40 remaining open spots in leagues, two of which are in a $10 league, the rest are all freebies. Maybe don’t wait too much longer if you want to jump in and play. Scroll to the bottom, find a draft time that works for you, and sign on up! Last week we looked at the RCL ADP of all Grey’s crushes/sleepers. This week, let’s take a look at all those Schmohawks Grey wants you to avoid. Every player has a point where even a schmohawk can return value, so let’s take a look.
DRAFT TRENDS
We are now up 27 leagues worth of draft data, all of which is available for your viewing pleasure in the RCL ADP SPREADSHEET. Here, you can look up any ol’ schmohawk’s ADP you wish. You can also just copy out the data to your own Excel sheet and use it in your own War Room if that tickles your fancy. We had one of our legacy leagues (NOTLZ) draft this past week as well as Laura’s $100 RCL so there’s some juicy data included there. Enjoy!
WE DON’T NEED NO STINKIN’ NFBC ADP
We’ve got RCL ADP! Here’s a list from our 27 league sample of some players whose ADPs I was curious about and some general notes.
PLAYER | ADP | HI | LO |
---|---|---|---|
Walker Buehler | 19.19 | 11 | 43 |
Byron Buxton | 55.33 | 37 | 76 |
George Springer | 59.81 | 46 | 75 |
Nolan Arenado | 65.56 | 43 | 86 |
I could have sworn Grey wrote more Schmohawk posts than just four. I guess there are just not that many players Grey is out on. All of these guys usually end up drafted before I get around to looking their way. Buxton has burned me far too often for me to go back to that well and as a Springer drafter last year, I think I’m good there too.
As a bonus, since this list was much shorter than I anticipated, here is a short list of Matt’s avoids for this draft season:
PLAYER | ADP | HI | LO |
---|---|---|---|
Starling Marte | 37.26 | 25 | 55 |
Lance Lynn | 67.78 | 35 | 111 |
Josh Bell | 133.26 | 102 | 173 |
Justin Turner | 168.78 | 137 | 200 |
Andrew Benintendi | 212.44 | 177 | 248 |
I have been trying to grab speed early and hoping also Trevor Story swipes some bags this year. I also tend to be eyeing that Adalberto Mondesi/Bobby Witt Jr. speed range and Marte just doesn’t fit into my plans. I don’t think he’s hitting 30 steals this year myself and I’m out. I have been out on Lance Lynn for the last five seasons, so take this one with a grain of salt, but dangit, I’ll be right one of these years! Bell and Turner just fall into that very boring tier of cornermen that I have no interest in. If I haven’t filled my CI spot by now, I’m waiting on Torkelson, McMahon, or Mancini. Benny Baseball is fine, I’ve just been landing on other fifth OFs here.
TO JOIN A LEAGUE
Click the LINK in the ‘League Link’ column (see below grid) for the time you want and YOU’RE IN. Damn, that’s too easy. Oh, I guess I should also mention make sure you’re joining a league for free or for money, depending on your preference. If you want a league for money, then 1) Click the link. 2) Pay the money. That’s it! No pesky third requirement! Again, Fantrax and Razzball take no money. You can join as many free or paid leagues as you like. To quit a league, go to OTHER –> All Options –> Quit League (located at the bottom). Now go join some leagues!
