As we roll into the weekend, it looks like another calm FAAB period is on the horizon. Pitching will be tough to come by. Most two-start pitchers are either heavily rostered or have black eyes. Glenn Otto will likely see the most adds for the fringe group. As he has starts against Oakland and Seattle. However, his 14.2% walk rate is unplayable in most formats.

Schedules:

Eight Games: Guardians, White Sox, Tigers, and Royals

Seven Games: Braves, Red Sox, Rockies, Marlins, Pirates, Padres, Giants, Cardinals, Rays, Rangers, and Mets

Six Games: Diamondbacks, Cubs, Reds, Astros, Brewers, Twins, Yankees, Athletics, Phillies, Mariners, Blue Jays, and Nationals.

Five Games: Orioles, Angels, and Dodgers

Notable Pending IL activations: Chris Sale, Marcus Stroman, Tyler Stephenson, Yasmani Grandal

10/12 Team Adds

Darick Hall (PHI/OF) – A power bat for those in need. Hall hit 20 homers in Triple-A before getting the call. He’s delivered in his short time so far, hitting four homers. He could be a batting average risk but plays in good park for left-handed power. (5-6% FAAB)

Nico Hoerner (CHC/2B,SS) – Offers a little bit in all five standard categories. I wouldn’t count on him as an every week starter but rather a strong bench bat/steamer in shallow formats.  (1% FAAB)

Nick Lodolo (CIN/SP) – Lodolo ticks all the boxes for me. He maintains a strong ground ball rate of 47.1%, along with a respectable 37.3% hard hit rate and a 7.8% Barrel. He has 19.2 innings to this point but maintains a 30.3% K-rate. Lodolo has had similar results in the minors. (5-6% FAAB)

Jonathan Villar (LAA/2B,3B,SS) – Villar is not a good hitter. But then again, he’s hitting in front of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Are we sure Joe Maddon is gone? He will also sprinkle in some stolen bases. (1-2% FAAB)

Elias Diaz (COL/C) – Diaz has had a fairly disappointing season to this point. However, he is back to playing most days (8 of the last 11) and gets a full week of home games. (1% FAAB)

15 Team Adds

Rafael Ortega (CHC/OF) – After a strong 2021 showing, Ortega has been relegated to a strong side platoon bat. Fortunately, it’s the strong side and even sweeter is that he leads off when he plays. The Cubs are schedule to face 5 righties in their 6 games this week. (1-2% FAAB)

Ha-Seong Kim (SDP/2B,3B,SS) – Padres are scheduled to play four games at Coors Field, followed by a weekend series in Arizona. As the rotations currently line up, they’ll face two lefties in Coors followed by two more over the weekend. Kim is slashing .298/.417/.440 (150 wRC+) against LHP this season. (1-2% FAAB)

Harold Ramirez (1B,OF) – Ramirez is a high contact/average hitter. He’s consistently in the top half of the lineup and has been playing nearly every day over the last two weeks. Although, he doesn’t offer much speed or power. (1-2% FAAB)

Nolan Jones (CLE/3B,OF) – Best served in OBP leagues. His lowest walk rate at any level so far is 14.5%. The problem is, he has had a 25-30% K rate at most levels. That doesn’t leave much room for a strong batting average. Jones has great raw power but it has yet to turn it into substantial results. Jones also 10 bags in 2021, caught twice. His upside warrants a roster spot in deeper formats but be ready to cut bait. (2-3% FAAB)
