The paragraph that I am about to write has next to nothing to do with the Thursday slate of MLB games, and that’s okay, because the NBA Finals begin on Thursday. Cleveland is stronger than they were last year, but most people are forgetting that Golden State is too. At least one of Steph and Klay will get hot in every game of the series, and when at least one of them is hot, they are virtually unguardable. Because of that fact, I am going Warriors in six. Now, to move onto the picks for today, with three AL East infielders making an appearance in my lineup, along with the Brewers’ battery.

Matt Boyd, SP: $6,400 – In his first start back up from the minors last week, Boyd pitched rather effectively. He now gets to face an old, lefty heavy Yankees lineup that has been struggling to score runs. Boyd is a player on the rise, and at this price against a weak team, he should perform well.
Chase Anderson, SP: $8,300 – I’ve never really known what to make of Chase Anderson; he’s been known to have flashes of brilliance followed by longer periods of mediocrity. Facing the Phillies is a sure-fire recipe to flash brilliance though, so don’t miss out on Chase.
Jonathon Lucroy, C: $4,100 – Lucroy is back to his old ways of absolutely smoking baseball after baseball, line drives to both gaps and some home runs. He’ll keep our buddy Chase in line and he’ll support him with some runs!
Wil Myers, 1B: $4,400 – The fact that there is only one ‘l’ in this guy’s name is very annoying. I’m gonna have to look up if that’s his actual first name… No, it’s not… It’s “William” with two l’s. I cannot believe that he would spell the shortened version of his name with only one. It must have been rebellious little eight year old Will Myers who decided to change it to Wil. Darn rebellious little kids.
Steve Pearce, 1B/2B: $3,800 – Steve Pearce just feels like a baseball player. No one knew he could play second base until the Orioles started playing him there last year, and then he started making diving plays and amazing everyone. He will provide the potential for corner infield power numbers at a middle infield spot; get him in that lineup.
Manny Machado, 3B/SS: $4,700 – There are some days where I really feel like making the argument for Manny Machado as the second best player in baseball behind Mike Trout. Today is not one of those days, but if that’s even arguable you should definitely have this guy in your lineup.
Xander Bogaerts , SS: $5,300 – Xander is taking a page out of the JBJ handbook and going on a long hit streak. When I picked JBJ last week, he extended his hit streak, so we will try to do that here.
Christian Yelich, OF: $4,300 – I always thought it would be very ironic if a guy named Christian was definitively not Christian. I have no idea whether that is the case with Yelich, although he does seem like a very nice guy regardless. You always need that one smooth swinging left handed bat who also happens to be a nice guy!
Matt Kemp, OF: $4,200 – Matt Kemp has hit a few homers of late, and considering that he is one of the streakiest hitters in baseball… Let’s just say that if I were you, I would want Matthew Ryan Kemp in my lineup.
Billy Hamilton, OF: $4,400 – Billy Hamilton hasn’t been doing much producing at the plate, but I’m predicting he finds the huge gaps at Coors’ Field multiple times and turns those hits into a couple of triples.
I’m Only Happy When it Rains
I guess, if I go along with the title to this section, tomorrow will be a sad day for me, as it isn’t supposed to rain anywhere. I guess I’ll be counting on my lineup alone to make me happy. Thankfully I picked a studly lineup, so we should be okay!
Doing Lines in Vegas
There are over-unders of 9 in the BOS-BAL and the NYY-DET matchups. However, the big kahuna is the over-under of 11.5 in Colorado with the Reds in town. Sure, everyone likes to stack Coors’ Field, but sometimes you have to go along with that, so feel free to run wild with that matchup.
That’s all for today: I hope that the Brewers’ Battery performs better than a battery of brewers in a beer league softball game!
