The regular season is coming to a close and if you are reading this it means you are a true fantasy baseball owner that is deep in the playoffs or finishing the last rotisserie push!  None of that fantasy football goofiness, you want 162 games of pure glory.  Knowing your dedication, this week we dedicate our hitter profiles to your last push and a few hitters that may have been cast off due to poor early season performance.  In the spirit of Mario Mendoza and disappointing stat lines, we are shopping at the Mendoza bargain bins for players who have had rough seasons and seeing if there is any gold to be found for the late season push.

Like fine wine, some Rookies are simply better with age.  Now I am not talking Rooke of the Year winners such as Jose Abreu or Ichiro Suzuki, who dominated upon their arrival to the MLB at a more advanced age.  Those guys had a leg up as stars in the native leagues prior to taking the MLB by storm.  No, we are talking about the guys like Jose Martinez, Shane Spencer or Ryan Shimpf who took the league by storm after, sometimes well after, their 25th birthday.  Sometimes they come out of nowhere as their MLB team can simply no longer deny their production or they find their way into a lineup due to injury or trade.  Either way, these guys can be jolts to our fantasy lineup as the season comes to a close.  This week, we dive into two different rookies to see if they are aging like a fine wine or more of a moldy cheese.

As we turn the calendar into the last full month of the season, there are still hopes alive for many fantasy managers. Whether that is due to strong ownership or the fact that you have switched over to the far inferior game of fantasy football, we are closing in on the finish line. September is for the true baseball manager who weathered the season to reach the playoffs or make the final rotisserie push. This week, we try to find a hot hand that might make a difference as we look at two outfielders that are making noise in the NL Central. This week’s hitter profiles are ready to begin!

This week our top 100 hitters get a shakeup not only from shifting roles and recent performance, but unfortunately, we see a few players tumbling down by their own accord.  Whether it was a bad haircut leading to a PED suspension or another off the field run in with the law, it is not the way we want to see a player dropping out of the rankings.  That said, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Marcell Ozuna do not seem to care about your fantasy team any more than their own team at this point, so our rankings had to return the favor.  Disappointing as it may be for teams relying on their fading stars at the end on the season, it is out with the old and in with the new in this week’s rendition of the top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.

Welcome to the scrap heap. Where all of the discarded and disregarded players have landed due to poor performance, injury or just simply disrespect. This week we are going to do a good ole Buy or Sell focusing on names that are owned in less than 50% of leagues. Maybe we strike it right or simply strike out. Whatever the outcome will be, at least we are in this together. Without further ado, let us jump in like a Carter Capps jump fastball.

This must be one of the most exciting trade deadlines in history.  We had established closers switching teams, gold gloves moving to greener pastures and some young 23 year old demanding one of the biggest prospect hauls we have ever seen.  The trade deadline is always an interesting lottery for our fantasy game.  For forward looking owners, there is an opportunity to prospect into new values or simply get some dumb luck.  Either way, the deadline is certainly a delight for viewers and owners alike.  This week our Top 100 Hitters takes a shuffle thanks to the deadline and beginning of the seconds half as we stare down the last two weeks of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.

Here we are running into the second half coming off an incredibly exciting All-Star break.  I think I could personally listen to Alek Manoah pitch mic’d up for the next five years and not get bored.  As we look at the what may be a last gasp for owners trying to make the playoffs or ride it out in the roto standings, we owe ourselves a reset and the opportunity to move some big names up or down in the rankings.  While the Home Run derby was fun, it does not really change our outlook for Julio Rodriguez or Juan Soto.  However, the second half will bring us the return of a few key contributors and give others a chance for a much needed reset.  Without further ado and random rambling, jump into the rankings and read through below to see the movers and shakers as we jump in with two feet to our Top 100 rankings for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.

Last week we toured the infield and our first half fantasy All-Stars.  If you missed that article, stop, do not pass go, do not collect $200 and give last week’s article a read.  For those of you that stopped in last week, thank you and let us get into touring the outfield.  Out on the grass we have two clear front runners that have paid their owners many times over and then a heated competition for the final spot in our lineup.  Without further ado, here are our first half outfield All-Stars!

There is nothing like striking up a debate amongst the readers of our wonderful fantasy game by anointing the mid-season all-stars. We are not talking about the Aaron Judge or Yordan Alvarez types, but the out of nowhere stars that carry your team to the top. We are talking about the Randy Arozarena in the playoffs or Shane Spencer in September. This week, we dive into the surprising names who returned the biggest bang for the buck based on expectations moving into the season. We also assess if we can expect the production to continue in the second half. Without further ado, these are the hitter profile’s infield All-Stars!

Welcome to July where we are only two weeks away from the All-Star game and fantasy baseball owners are trying to gear up for the second half.  This week, our rest of the season rankings take on a little shake up thanks to injury (sorry, Bryce Harper and Salvador Perez) and the continued breakout of young stars like Julio Rodriguez and Bobby Witt Jr.  In the coming weeks, we also hope to welcome back a healthy Eloy Jimenez, Fernando Tatis Jr. and maybe even Mitch Haniger.  Because we know you have already skipped this short introduction, let us move on to the rankings for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.

It does not take much in our game to go from fantasy darling to swift after-thought.  Take for example the season line of 86-23-92-.310-2.  This is the last full season in 2018 for Scooter Gennett of the Cincinnati Reds.  After an injury stunted 2019 season and a trade to San Francisco that did not jump start his season, he was simply out of the game.  So what is the point of all of this besides the fact that I simply miss Scooter as one of the fun personalities in the game?  Today, we are taking a look at two first basement who were generally after thoughts in spring drafts and still do not get their due nearly halfway through the season.  Hopefully they both have better fates than Scooter.

There comes a time in every season, when it feels like players and dropping left and right.  Maybe it is the heat or maybe it is a speech from Brian Snitker but is does feel like a shift is taking place with injuries across the board.  Just this week, we lost the likes of Anthony Rendon, Ozzie Albies while Fernando Tatis Jr. and Mitch Haniger appear to have delays in their rehab.  It sounds like time to scour the waiver wire while making some tough decisions about who really can stick around on the injured list.  This week in our Top 100 hitters, while we say goodbye to Rendon and Albies we get to welcome a few new faces.  Sit back and enjoy this week’s edition of the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.
