Well kids, we made it.  The Razzball Commenter Leagues trade deadline has come and gone and it went out with a bang!  RCLers completed twenty-two trades this past week as everyone was looking to make one final push.  It was interesting having the MLB trade deadline basically at the same time as our fantasy baseball trade deadline.  Those that traded for Luke Jackson might not have enjoyed that very much (although the way Shane Greene has pitched to start his Braves career, maybe he’ll get another shot) but I think it was exciting for everyone else.  There were plenty of closers exchanging hands this week with Felipe Vazquez seeming to get the most attention. Maybe because he had the fewest trade rumors swirling around him for a fairly reliable closer. Either way, we’ll break down a few of these trades and catch-up on two weeks worth of RCL data in the week that was, week 18.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

There were absolutely no changes in the ‘Perts Leagues standings from last week.  That’s not to say that midweek Grey and I weren’t trading the lead back and forth, but I ended up with on Sunday for a second week running.  Cram It isn’t going away either, although after leading the league for another week in almost every offensive category I think he’s tapped out there.  Cram It has over 100 more RBIs than Grey and myself and 40 more than the nearest competitor (Ralph). Some would say he should trade for a pitcher, well, you just wait and see what Cram did this week!

Roto-Wan made the biggest point jump this week, grabbing six points thanks to leading the league in ERA and WHIP.  Tehol lost the most points this week, 7.5 as dropping out of the league in early May has finally caught up to him. Shockingly, there are still teams below him in the standings.  Ouch.

After two weeks of play our overall leader remains the Fat Fuckin’ Babies.  In fact, the entire top 4 remained unchanged. We’ll see if these four can hang on and make it a match down the stretch.

In fifth and sixth this week we have Squat Cobblers 2 and Prague Defenestrators jumping up from seventh and ninth respectively.

Checking into seventh place we have Team mcafeeeee who falls from fifth two weeks ago.

The kumamoto expungers remain in eighth for another week while Brookhaven Modern Blue jumps back into ninth after slipping to twelth two weeks ago.

Finally, rounding out our top ten we have Orchids of Asia who last appeared in the top ten back in week twelve.

There you have it.  I don’t think anyone needs to hear me break down all of these deals, but feel free to peruse and criticize in the comments.  If you have a league with a later trade deadline, maybe you can find some inspiration for a deal in one of those.

You can find Cram It’s deal that I mentioned above.  That’s a darn good price for Sherzer if he can produce anything the final month and a half of the season.  Will it be enough to push Cram It to the top of the ‘Perts League? I hope not, but it’s a great move.

Speaking of the ‘Perts League I traded some potential saves for some steals.  This blow was significantly eased by the fact that Scott Oberg was named the closer the next day.  Now, run Jarrod, run!

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Pousse-Pousse Drivers

League: RCL 2019 (#3)

Stats:   AVG: .287, R: 116, HR: 49, RBI: 135, SB: 5

IP: 104, ERA: 3.46, WHIP: 1.144, K: 125, W: 10, SV: 11

Summary:  The Pousse-Pousse Drivers put on an absolute show to win Team of the Week(s) honor this week.  The numbers stick out like a sore thumb when you look at the rest of league #3 and no one else had over 100 Runs or RBIs and most were in the twenties for homers.  Then you look at those pitching numbers, in over 100 IP those ratios are golden in today’s terms.  More than a K per nine and the delightfully double digit wins and saves really puts a bow on this impressive two week span.  Nelson Cruz was of course the big driving force on offense for TOW contenders this week.  Matthew Boyd and Caleb Smith pitched in on the other side of the ball.  I checked into the league expecting to find the Drivers leading league #3, but they find themselves sitting fourth.  Still, that’s up from sixth two weeks ago and they’ve gained 12.5 points in that span.  All you can do is keep hoping for more weeks like these to climb those standings.  Keep up the good fight Drivers!
