What is up party people? The second half is off to a roaring start and it seems like every game Tuesday saw both sides score double digit runs. Could it be that the bouncy balls are back? If so, hitters are about to explode. Of course that means very bad things for your pitchers but let's be honest, it is really fun to watch bombs. Verlander Shows Signs Of A Justin

This locker room for the last three months is where I've placed my bowl of cocktail wieners and beans on top of this wooden bench and dined, while people around me have said, 'Really? You have to eat in here?' This locker is where I hang my Mets' jersey, where, before me, once Hubie Brooks hung his Mets' jersey, and before him, another guy whose name I'm forgetting. That's a legacy, and we're damn proud. Mets is written across our chest, like a stigmata." That was Justin Verlander as he tried to pretend to not want to be traded, making his best effort on the field -- 8 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.47. Verlander is carrying his worst peripherals in fifteen years -- 7.6 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 4.49 xFIP, just hideous stuff for a guy of his caliber, but maybe the inspiration to get off the Mets will be all he needs. Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

For this list, I used the players' ages as of July 9, 2023. The cut-off lines for eligibility were 130 at bats for hitters and 50 innings for pitchers. Here’s a link to the Top 25. Mets SS Ronny Mauricio | 22 | MLB | 2023 Breakout season began in winter ball but has been complicated by the club’s efforts to find its best lineup. Probably should’ve been playing big league second base a long time ago. Jeff McNeil was a nice find, but he’s 31 years old with a .324 slugging percentage. He’s essentially Luis Guillorme without the cool infield defense. How any club lets him block a bonus baby coming into his own is beyond me.

"Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you. No, you can't. Yes, I can." Sang Christian Walker (3-for-5, 3 runs, 5 RBIs) as he had a double slam (19, 20) and legs (7). On Christian solder! *blowtorches a piece of metal* "Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you. No, you can't. Yes, I can." Sang Austin Riley (3-for-5, 3 runs, 7 RBIs) as he hit hit his 17th and 18th homer. "You're supposed to wait for me to reply 'Yes, I can' after you say 'No, you can't." "No, I'm not." "Yes, you are." Sang Orlando Arcia (2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) who hit his 8th homer. Next year, Christian Walker will once again be underrated, as he's currently above Vlad Jr., Riley and others on the Player Rater, and others who went way before him, and I imagine will again in 2024. "No, they won't." Yes, they will! Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

On a street corner, Arte Moreno rings a bell, "Come and get your Angels here, come and get your Angels! No one is off limits! You want Ohtani? You're gonna have to pay the price! Say, how about you send us Brandon Marsh for Ohtani? Deal done? Terrific! What about Griffin Canning? He just threw 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 9 baserunners, and had a career-high in strikeouts with 12 with an ERA at 4.52. You'll give us 'a disapproving look once worn by former Angels great, Ian Kinsler?' Fantastic! He's yours!" That's Arte Moreno doing some trade deadline wheeling and/or dealing. Canning was a favorite of mine in previous years. Don't look at which years it was I liked him, it's too depressing how far back it goes. Right now, he's having the best year of his career (9.4 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 3.88 xFIP), and looks headed to top his career-high of 90 1/3 IP, assuming they don't keep throwing him for 120 pitches per start, like last night. He gained an extra mile on his fastball, and getting hitters mostly with his change, that's been outstanding. Streamonator loved him yesterday, and I can't say I'd start him without pause, but he might finally be making good on his promise. The last piece will be him becoming a Tampa Bay Ray! Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
