If David Hamilton could swim like he could run, he would've been sent down to the Titanic wreck to save those in the submarine. Talk about the worst Gilligan's Island spinoff ever. Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip that started from roughly 60 depths under the sea... "Skipper, we have two hours left of oxygen." Skipper smacks Gilligan with his hat, waving away oxygen. Gilligan gulps, "Make that one hour and thirty minutes." The story on the submarine billionaire is like a reverse Icarus, and I want to read everything about it. Any hoo! David Hamilton isn't a swimmer (maybe he is, I have no idea), but he is a runner. Boy, is that guy fast. He's so fast rather than calling Spectrum's customer service, he ran to a call center in Hyderbad to ask his question in-person. Wow, that's fast! Don't know Hamilton's playing time sitch; he might not be called up for long, but he's incredibly interesting because he was a 23/97 guy combined over the last 171 minor league games. Yeah, pretty good! I grabbed him in my most shallow leagues just in case he sticks, though he might not stand in one place long enough to stick. Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Today is the day Cleveland will finally deploy one of its best pitchers, almost three months into the season. Gavin Williams earned this opportunity more than a month ago and hasn’t dominated to quite the same extent since he was left to linger. His 2.93 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 46 Triple-A innings still look good enough for us to glimpse his mountainous upside. Just anecdotal, but it feels like there’s a real reward for the teams who don’t drag their feet on promotions this year. The Reds have ripped off ten straight wins, and even they’ve been on the conservative side of aggressive, if that makes even a Strand of sense.

We are approaching the halfway point of the season.  It is officially time to panic if you’re in the bottom half of your league.  A couple hot weeks can still turn things around, but it’s got to happen fast.  I hope you had a restful weekend, maybe the dads out there were treated to some pampering, I’m still recovering from a Father’s Day/Wedding Anniversary combo weekend, which was a lot of fun and quite a whirlwind.  Please, blog, may I have some more?

Luis Arraez has three 5-hit nights this month, including last night. He’s batting .400 on the dot. Speaking of dots, there’s a laser dot on Ted Williams’s forehead, slowly heating him up so he can go around to stadiums in the 2nd half of the season for Arraez’s chase to hit .400. Please, blog, may I have some more?

Do you ever look at the calendar and ask yourself "How the fudge am I going to save my fantasy baseball team with only like 8 weeks left until the playoffs?" Think of it this way: a fantasy football season is 17 games total (the NFL added an extra week of play for those of you out of the loop). And, you know, there's only one game a week...so, 17 chances to win. Playoffs in a 12-team league probably start around Week 14/Week 15 depending on the format. So, you've got roughly 13 opportunities for a Win/Loss that will put you in the playoff race. Fantasy football players do this every year, and it's a much more popular sport than fantasy baseball. We've got like, 70-80 games left of MLB baseball before the fantasy baseball playoffs. Y'all can do this. Don't panic. Chug a beer and grab a towel. Let's see if we can get you onto the space super-highway.
