Luis Severino is set to lose his Cincinnati V-plates today. That's cool kid slang for "virginity". So I guess while we're on the topic, what does a virgin and a virgin have in common? The more they get slammed, the looser they get. Hopefully the same isn't true for Sev' in his ninth home start against the Reds. I could make so much more sexually awkward Dad funnies, but it's probably time to think outside the box (wink emoji). Back to beisbol, Sev is perhaps one of your better DFS plays on this fine Wednesday. He's coming off a seven inning six kayyy shutout at Safeco last week, and even though he comes at a price of $9,600, he's one of your better options. Between trade deadline deals and prospect call-ups, I am so super jacked right now, I could jackhammer a road with my excitement!  Is it weird that I'm picturing a mural of Giancarlo on the ground while I jackhammer said road with my excitement?  "Hey, move that traffic cone!  Giancarlo's birthmark is further down and to the right!"  That's me directing city workers as they put my Giancarlo mural on my block.  So, with Dexter Fowler hitting the DL with a forearm strain, the Card called up Harrison Bader.  I'm kicking myself for going Willie Calhoun over Harrison Bader two weeks ago in NL-Only FAAB.  Real bad call by me.  Now, I got Willie Calhoun, who sounds like someone in Alcatraz, and I'm kicking rocks.  Why do we care?  Bader has 19 HRs, 9 SBs and a .297 average in Triple-A, and Prospector Ralph put him 36th overall on his top 100 fantasy baseball prospect list.  I attempted to add him everywhere, even in ESPN leagues where he's not in their system yet.  Oops, guess they didn't see him coming.  Apparently, they don't put the ESP in ESPN.  Bader's overall profile looks to be a 20-ish homers, 12ish steals, .275-ish average.  His -ish looks Fowler-ish, and I'm chicken-lickin'.  Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Image result for david peralta Did you know that David Peralta's name is actually Senger Guerreiro? So it's Senger David Peralta Guerreiro Maria Conchita Alonso. Whew. Ok, without the Maria Conschita Alonso, but it made me think of this. That's better than Sum Ting Wong and Yu Stin Ki Pu. Anyways, his father is also named David Peralta, so I respect that he decided to go with that. I also love his back story...
It's all fun and games when the lights go off and the special things in life glow under different color light.  Laundry detergent, player names, and the puns that are associated with them... and believe it or not a good ole bottle of Hennessy.  So now that we have concocted that cocktail and images in your head, let's move onto the Fantasy Baseball portion of this relationship.  That being Marcus Semien.  I am going to be the first to admit that I really like the idea of this guy on my team after last season's output, as he produced 27 HR's and 10 steals.  Not the elite of foot by any stretch of the SAGNOF imagination, but the 27 taters from a middle infield spot takes a lot of gleam off the cube.  So why now?  Well, his season was derailed by injury and he only still has 86 at-bats on the year.  Ignore all the other facets, he is not going to hit for average and not going to score a ton of runs in the A's lineup, but he has 7 steals in those 86 at-bats.  (He only had 10 last year in 586 at bats, remember I just said that.)  So he has gone from a once every 60 plate appearances per steal guy to one every 10.  I am by far no mathematical genius, but that looks like a gigantic difference.  Since he returned from the DL, he is hitting 30 points above his career average, which is only .230, but still, .265 is better then .230.  The steals are what we want and that's why we here.  So with the expectations of him not slipping out of the lineup now that he is returned he could easily be a cheap source (8.6% owned in ESPN leagues).  With the way that the middle infield spots turn over and the trade deadline around the bend stats at any chance are better then none. The prospects are coming, the prospects are coming!  At least that’s what every Sawx fan was screaming this Sunday.  What fun the end of week 16 brought with Rafael Devers getting the call for the Sawx.  I’ll be curious to see how he fares right off the bat and where they decide to hit him.  I was lucky enough to catch Devers in Portland earlier this year and he mollywhopped one almost out of the building.  So yes, the power is legit.  To begin the week, we lost a Razzball Commenter Leagues first rounder in Carlos Correa.  What a tough go the first round middle infielders have had with Trea going down and now Correa.  Raise your hand if own both of them in an RCL.  I feel your pain.  Colin Moran was quickly stashed and almost as quickly dropped when face met ball.  I’m on the fence about what to do with Correa myself.  Obviously, if you have a DL spot, you stash him, but if you’re all full up, it’s a bit of a pickle.  Lucky me, I own Correa in 3 of my 4 most competitive RCLs.  Lower case yay.  Let’s see how these injuries and call-ups affected the Master Standings and what else transpired in the week that was, week 16:
Coors really must be messing with Lance Lynn's pricing today.  I mean, I know Lynn isn't Max Scherzer by any means but facing the Rockies away from Colorado can sure make you seem like it. And actually, here's the most perplexing part of Lynn's $14,800 price tag: the Rockies haven't been good anywhere this year.  Rockies at home?  They've got the fifth worst wRC+ there...the Padres have better home numbers than these guys!  The scary thing is, it actually gets worse on the road where they're 3rd in wRC+ while also giving us a 24.2% K rate.  If you need further proof, Leake threw 7 shutout innings against these guys last night, K'ing 6.  Leake's K/9 is 6.04 this year...and Lynn's is 7.93.  Giddy up!    In all, Lynn in both cash and tourneys today should be just fine.  Now that we're done with that, let's get on with this.  Here's my scorching hot summer taeks for this Tuesday FD slate... I promised Grey I wouldn’t bring up anything to try to set him off this podcast, but he still found ways to get annoyed all on his own, starting with the fact he wants to be hyped up more during the introduction. He was also confused by the one word, “endorphin” fueled texts Ralph Lifshitz often sends him, who we brought on at the midway point of the podcast to talk about the recent call-ups of Rafael Devers and Yoan Moncada, along with discussing a few pitchers on his Top 100 Starters article, including Alex Wood, Rich Hill, and Aaron Nola. Before we brought Ralph on, Grey and I dug into the J.D. Martinez and Todd Frazier trades, while also discussing the potential landing spots for the top players remaining on the trade market. Finally, we give RotoWear.com a full on 3-headed endorsement with Grey, Ralph, and I talking up our favorite t-shirts, and hope you guys get in on the fun by heading over there and entering promo code “SAGNOF” for 15% off. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast:
On the podcast coming later today, I felt a reverb.  Luckily, I do everything while standing in a doorway because who has time to run to a doorway in the event of a earthquake?  This reverb wasn't God practicing his spinning of tectonic plates.  Oh no.  This reverb wasn't Dr. Dre messing with Technics either.  No siree, Bob.  This was the Padres trading Brandon Maurer and Trevor Cahill to the Royals for Matt Strahm, Travis Wood and Esteury Ruiz.  Damn, San Diego, save some of the trading deadline hype for other people.  Okay, I'm laying it on too thick.  This trade is okay for both teams.  Royals appear to have playoff aspirations, and get bullpen depth that they should never use in Maurer and Cahill, who has some of the most extreme splits I've ever seen.  In Petco:  0.72 ERA; elsewhere:  5.75 ERA.  Goodbye, my old friend!  Of course, this means Brad Hand officially officially becomes the closer.  Wouldn't totally shock me to see Hand dealt -- to who?  Phil Ivey? -- and Maton become the closer, but that's more for NL-Only.  Matt Strahm is an interesting name for NL-Only leagues for next year.  As of now, he's out after knee surgery, and he's from the crazy Ks and crazy walks variety show, Krazy BBs.  By the way, I believe Esteury Ruiz is Rio Ruiz with a badly thought out new name in the Witness Protection Program.  Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
If your approach in RCL leagues is anything like mine, then you're carrying maybe 2-3 starters, and filling in the cracks with well researched streamers. Part of my process, as I'm sure it is with many of you, is to check the streamonator for the highest value available probables. Then I dive deeper into the matchup stats, and follow that up with a glance at the starters recent track record. One of the more common suggestions over the past few weeks has been Mets starter Rafael Montero. Best described as a AAAA starter, he's long been the shuttle guy, and spot starter, whenever an elbow pops in the Mets rotation. With injuries a plenty in Flushing, there's been abundant opportunity for Montero to stick for the better part of the next month, and beyond. Let's take a deep dive into Montero's Sunday start vs. the Oakland Athletics, and see if he might be an arm to keep in mind, as we stream our way to the promised land.

Last week, we added Tommy Pham and his pal (unconfirmed) Marwin Gonzalez to the realm of the 100. This week, we’re feeling so good that we’re moving them on up the rankings. Pham has the second best PR15 (ESPN leagues) right now (13.01), behind only the respected Coors Field masher Nolan Arenado. Marwin, while he has a respectable 5.26 PR15 that is good for 34th overall, is moving up because he suddenly has an inside track to playing time. Someone ask Grey if I get any bonus points for running it back on players in back-to-back weeks AND rolling with a double player reference headline. I was going to go with a Gregory Polanco reference but decided Matt Adams was both more ridiculous and had the added bonus of allowing me to use former teammates (kind of). More bonus points? Let me know what Grey says. As for Carlos Correa, well, you guys know already, right? I’m dropping him from the Top 100 because he is going to miss most of the rest of the season. He could potentially return and help you for fantasy playoffs or the last couple weeks, but we won’t know for sure for a few more weeks. This IS good news for Marwin Gonzalez, who I focused on last week, as there is suddenly another opening in the lineup for him. Obviously, hold Correa for now, but I’m dropping him from the ranks of the beloved and pouring out some Coors Light for him. I never thought there would be a week where I would be adding Matt Adams and removing Carlos Correa. 2017 is bumming me out, but I promise to make it one full article without mentioning Super Balls (this doesn’t count!). Screw it, let’s add Steven Souza, too. He’s got 20 home runs to go with a .272 average, .239 ISO, an increased Hard%, and what looks to be an increased approach at the plate. He has been on the fringe, but I managed to make room for him this week. I give up, 2017. You hear me? I give up! You win! Anyway, here are some other notes on the additions and subtractions for this week...
I know it's a little early for Throwback Thursday, but my Baltimore Boo is visiting later this week, so Thursday can't get here fast enough.  I'm endorsing two guys tonight who have been racking up DFS points like a young MJ over their last six starts.  Brad Peacock, $22,400 is facing the not-so Fightin Phil's in Philly tonight and he could easily rack up double digit K's versus the lowest scoring team in baseball.  Peacock has been shaking his tail feathers all over the mound in his last six starts, averaging a solid 24 points per start.  A quick look into the numbers and you can easily see why he deserves to be strutting around; he's 5-0 with a 1.84 ERA to go along with his 11.8 K/9.  I  know the Phillies play in a hitters park, but Peacock should easily post 25 points tonight and if he can get through 6 innings, he could possibly eclipse the 30 point mark.  Jacob deGrom, $26,100 is the most expensive player on the night, but he's facing a Padres lineup who rank third in K's versus RHP.  Apparently Jacob got his groove back because over his last six starts, he's 6-0 with a 1.62 ERA to go along with an improved 8.6 K/9.  Obviously deGrom will be highly rostered tonight, so if you want to zig when others zag, then follow my lead to see what's next. Yesterday, Rafael Devers was called up by the Red Sox.  Meh, if he's anything like Danvers, Mass., I'm good.  Somewhere, Prospector Ralph just Hulk-smashed his computer.  Say something bad about Rafael Devers and Prospector Ralph goes full Clubber Lang at the Rocky statue.  "You want a real man to play third base with your wife?"  Devers' minor league numbers (20 HRs, near-.310 across two levels this year in 85 games) look like yet another Benintendi, but with more power.  The Sons of Sam Horn will go legit Sophie's Choice if you try to get them to choose between Benintendi and Devers.  "I'd prefer to eat at a Wahlburgers every day for the rest of my life than choose between those two.  Oh, and Yankees suck!"  After owning Benintendi for the past four months, I think I might prefer Devers next year, if he's all that he's cracked up to be.  Not to get too crazy, but can anyone say a lefty Miggy?  If you can't say it, you might need to see a speech therapist.  Devers is absolutely a grab in all leagues to see how looks.  Anyway, here's what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
