George Springer will miss six weeks with a broken wrist. I find in these times of sadness it's best to turn to the ones you love, your family. But it's also important to not forget why you were sad either, so you don't lose perspective. So print out pictures of Springer's face and paste them to your wife, kids and dog's faces. See, aren't you glad you have family. It's that kind of moral support that one needs at a time like this. If they don't allow you to paste pictures on their face, you can leave your family or paste it on their faces while they're asleep. Fun Fact! I always fall asleep during the movie While You Were Sleeping. Power of suggestion? Perhaps. This is obviously terrible news for Springer's owners, and I wouldn't get too cutesy with trying to trade for him on the cheap in redraft leagues. Wrist injuries can be tricky to rock around, it's right on time, they're tricky. Oh, oh, oh, they're tricky! Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to our daily projection methodology since my last update in May. The impact has been very positive - e.g., June represented our most accurate month ever for projecting DFS hitter points. If you haven't signed up already, I implurge (implore + urge) you to sign up for a month of DFSBot as for $9.99, you will get our DFS projections for DraftKings (and three others providers), the Streamonator + HitterTron for dominating Roto AND free access to our partner LineupLab's MLB lineup optimizer leveraging our projections. Here is a summary of the recent projections methodology improvements:
Yasiel Puig might be the most polarizing player in major league baseball right now. Since making his MLB debut in June 2013, the 24-year-old Cuban defector's off-the-field antics, such as repeatedly showing up late for games and displaying a questionable work ethic in the weight room, have angered fans and teammates alike. If you don't believe me, just check out what some of his current and former teammates have to say about him. On the field, however, Puig has displayed the rare skill set of a five tool player - speed, power, the ability to hit for average, and throwing and fielding abilities. As fantasy baseball players, the first three skills (speed, power, contact) are the most pertinent, and Puig has certainly proven that he's proficient in each of these key areas as a professional ball player. Let's take a look at his MLB career statistics to date:
I am equating this one solely on one thing for the Cubbies... and that term is?  Pseudo-intellectual.  Joe Maddon does everything different and it's gotta be the glasses.  He makes everyone want, need or have to be involved in his bullpen.  Basically, he is the united colors of Benetton of managers.  His hydra approach at the bullpen is not only bothersome or troubling for the roster-bater in all of us, it's damn near impossible to roster and guess which guy it will be today.  The trio of Jason Motte, Hector Rondon, and Pedro Strop all seem to play the part of a closer, but get shuffled around like Joe is playing little game in his head.  I get that some situations warrant certain match-ups, but sometimes it doesn't make any sense to me.  So for those of you that still care about the Cubs and their six save chances combined between all relievers in the last 14 days, I would roster Motte and Rondon equally, and if I had the space, I would roster Rafael Soriano and hold on tight.  Soriano is going to come in like the new city slicker, with a shiny pair of aldo shoes and end up being the cat's pajamas for about a minute in Maddon's mind.  Personally, rostering three guys to garner one stat is a crazy, crazy thing to get wrapped up into and is a waste.  If you are rostering one non-closer reliever to help with ratios, where are you making this roster space up from?  Nowhere is the answer, my friends.  So stick to the straight and narrow for saves for now, don't chase unless a clear situation opens it's doors and gives out the good candy on Halloween.  Stick around for some tidbits about the world of relief-dom...
Go chalk, they'll tell you. Play and pay up for the studs each time they pitch, they'll say. It's all about trusting the process. Most of the time, I agree with this. I've made it no secret that I prefer to pay up big for the top starter of the day if it's warranted. Today, in a 8-game slate (I'm counting the Phillies and Brewers), Max Scherzer is without a doubt the top-priced pitcher. However, is his astronomical $14,500 price tag worth it against the Freddie Freeman-less Atlanta Braves? Or, is it better to save nearly $5,000 and go for the still-good-but-not-dominant Tyson Ross? Here are two lineups that features both of them. You make the call. Straight to the cash, homie. New to DraftKings? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Kennys Vargas was demoted to Double-A. Shouldn't it be Double-Kenny? It's official, the Twins hate Vargas. They gave him all of about ten days to prove himself this time around. Maybe they just get off on killing Kennys. Oh, well, that's all I wanted to say in the lede. Nothing else. Just gonna pick my cuticles until I get to that "Anyway, here's what else" jazz that I always write. Oh, I guess I could mention Miguel Sano is being called up. I buried the lede worse than Kendall Graveman! First Buxton and now Sano, this is the most excitement Minnesota's seen since Prince was spotted at a Cold Stone Creamery ordering raspberry sorbet, and, without missing a beat, the cashier said, "And if it was warm, you'd order much more," then high-fived his oblivious co-worker. I just gave you my Miguel Sano fantasy. I wrote it with an 80's glam Sharpie. I'll add one thing to that. Grab him right now! He could hit .180 with power or he could hit .250 with power, but, either way, at corner infidel, you do worse, as my Jewish grandmother would say. After saying, "Oy, it's hot in here." Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
With three full months of baseball left to be played, a third horse may be emerging in the race for the first Razznasty dynasty league crown. R'azbahl Al Ghul has made solid win-now pickups and finds himself gaining some ground on the two frontrunners - Hannibal Montana and J-FOH. This month saw a group of about five or six teams ping-ponging around behind the leaders, but it's been Ghul who has come out of June with sole possession of third place. Here is what else is happening around the league - including full standings, trades, and our league's FAAB report...
Quick personal fact: I've been writing about fantasy baseball online for seven years. And seven years ago, I had the idea to start saving ADP data to better study drafting. Well, things that seem like good ideas at one point often get staler with time until they are forever abandoned. Such was the fate of my ADP data project... until now. What's changed is that I've found  a way to get historical ADP data potentially going all the way back to 2002, and not just for baseball but basketball, football, and hockey too. How is this done?
It's so frustrating to have just the right matchup, the research points you in the right direction and then, poof, you lose. It's even more infuriating to see that same group of players go off the next day when you are off of them. The emptiness of the DraftKings lineup when guys like Josh Donaldson do absolutely nothing haunts like all the haunted houses in fiction rolled into one website. So what do you do when your Dodgers stack flops when you needed it the most? When your research and everything tells you to go right back to it again the next day? Well, you do it, you roster them again. But what about the agony it caused you? You hated those guys for what they did to you and there's no way you'll let them do that to you again. Don't focus on the results, honor your process. I would say Shake It Off, but that now has been tainted by the pop song gods so we'll just say that it will feel good when that stack or that player does come through like you thought they would. Chris Davis and Mitch Moreland have long been guys I've rostered because their metrics are outstanding, especially against RHP and their fly ball rates are right in line with guys who could go deep at any time. And Tuesday night they did just that, trading a pair of HRs each in that Rangers/Orioles run fest. Good times, good times. Research, roster, repeat...and don't let the recent results, one way or the other, fool you. New to DraftKings? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Dude's on fire. No. Need better! He is a high-speed torrent download of a yule log burning. Need better! He is Smokey the Bear at a Porno for Pyros concert, wearing earbuds and listening to Firestarter by Prodigy. Need better still! He's a pyrotechnician smacking a sparkler out of your hand and giving you instead the detonator for the Statue of Liberty's 4th of July celebration fireworks. Yesterday, Mitch Moreland went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs and his 13th and 14th homers, and now has five homers in four games and six homers in six games. I already told you yesterday that Moreland has been better than Brandon Belt, Lucas Duda and Brandon Moss, and some other corner infidels, according to our Player Rater. That's on the year, not in the last week. In the last week, Moreland's been better than everyone. Let's take a hootie-hoo at who Moreland has more homers than on the year: Prince Fielder, Beltre (not close), Adam Jones, Big Papi, Tommy Tomstein, Freeman, Yoenis, Billy McDugal, Kris Bryant, Tulo, McClutchin and Sandoval. Sure, some of those guys I only named to rub salt in my own wounds -- I hate you, Sandoval! -- and other guys I mentioned don't even exist, but Mitch don't kill my vibe for the better part of the season now, and, if he's available, I'd grab him. Anyway, here's what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
