David Price

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

David Price

Postby inertiatic » Mon Jul 13, 2009 2:56 pm

Somebody got impatient and dropped Price over the weekend. He clears waivers tomorrow and is now sitting on the wire begging me to use my #1 priority on him. My pitching is pretty solid, but I've got a borderline man-crush for Price and I'm wondering if its worth it to grab him.

My SP's are Sabathia, Shields, Johnson, Hamels, E. Jackson, Wa-Rod, Hanson and Romero.

RP's- Broxton, Bailey, Qualls, Rodney

10 team H2H with only three BN spots and mine are filled with SP's so I have no schmohawk UTIL guy to drop. Categories are W, S, K's, ERA, WHIP and K/9.

I'm thinking its between dropping Hanson, Wa-Rod or Romero. Is Price going to be more valuable to me over one of those three? Or should I just hold tight? My Price obsession is blinding me and I can't look at this objectively.

BTW Grey this is the very best fantasy site on the internets. I only wish I'd discovered it sooner. Thanks for all the great advice and keep up the good work.

It sounds like it's between Price and Romero then? Well, I own Price and he's hurt me pretty bad. His last start was decent but I think it's going to be a roller coaster ride in the second half. Price may have the potential to throw a no hitter but his floor is below sea level. His ceiling is higher, but Romero will be more consistent. If I were you, I'd stay pat unless you can't drop a position player. Not worth your waiver priority IMHO.

I'm not really worried about losing the waiver priority. But I know he's gonna be picked up and I'm gonna kick myself if he's amazing in the 2nd half and I didn't get him. I appreciate the objective opinion, though. I suppose I'll stick with the smart move and stay put. But I won't be happy about it.

Thanks for the kind words. I'd drop Romero for Price.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!
