If you consider yourself a knowledgeable dynasty league player, then you should not be asking yourself "who is this Nolan Gorman dude of the St. Louis Cardinals?"
But if you are a newer dynasty baseball player, then you may be wondering about Gorman as he has slugged his way into the consciousness of many baseball fans.
A left-handed hitter, Gorman entered the Top 100 prospects lists of Baseball America, MLB Pipeline and Baseball Prospectus in 2019. By the start of the 2022 season, he was ranked 34th by BA, 33rd by MLB and 28th by BP
Gorman broke in with Cardinals in 2022, appearing in 89 games for the Redbirds and was a regular in the team's lineup last season as he played in 119 games. The second baseman is now in his third season with the Cardinals, so why do I consider him an up-and-coming dynasty player?

Luis Matos walked so Heliot Ramos could run. Remember Luis Matos? He had 16 RBIs in five games then disappeared off the face of the Earth. Well, he actually went 2-for-22 first, THEN vanished. Having spoken (written) extensively on the topic of waiver wire articles, to the point that Baseball HQ published one of my articles in their annual fantasy baseball physical magazine last year on the subject, I have fallen off the wagon outside of Grey's weekly missives. Granted I don't do the Patreon thing, so I'm not quite on the razor's edge of hot infotainment, but I used to absolutely guzzle those waiver articles down like young person doing poppers at a rave type gathering (I enjoy my vague understanding of youth culture drug usage, maybe one day I'll even watch Euphoria -- psyche, I'd rather fingernail my eyeballs to death).
What’s The Point: What’s The Matos?

What is up party people? Just when it looked like Luis Matos was going to have the chance to bat everyday and work through his struggles, the Giants got some veteran outfielders back from the IL and deemed it appropriate to send Matos back to AAA. Now I can't deny that he's been a rut at the plate with just 2 hits in his last 19 at bats and hasn't had an extra base hit in what feels like a year. Combine that with a complete lack of walks and you get a guy who went hotter than the surface of the sun to absolute zero. I'm still a believer in his talent and hope that this is just a short stint in the minors to get right and then he'll be back.
