The season is rolling along and the men are starting to separate themselves from the boys. Jessie Winker added 32 points this week bringing his season total to a cool 200. That’s good for top 5 among hitters. He’s really been a revelation this season and is showing no signs of slowing down. The power has been everything you could want and even better he’s hitting for a high average as well. That’s a fantasy star right there. Pretty dang good for a guy who was likely taken late in drafts. He has to be the fantasy MVP thus far and could end up being a league winner. Now on to some other hitters who are riding a good 7 day stretch.
Justin Upton is so hot this week and actually hasn’t been too bad on the season. With 111 points, he’s a top 50 outfielder. I’m not here to tell you he’s a fantasy hero, but he should be on more rosters than he is right now.
Cedric Mullins continued his fine season with another strong week. I was slow to buy in but he’s forcing me to change my mind. If you’ve got him, keep rolling him out and reaping the rewards. I was concerned how the playing time would shake out for him but his bat will keep him in the lineup going forward.
J.P. Crawford has certainly been doing his part to keep the Mariners from being no-hit again with 35 points this past week. The season numbers are solid and he’s can be nice fill in piece while he’s hot.
Brandon Crawford has defied all expectations with 14 bombs this season and three last week. He looks rejuvenated even as he became the Giants all time leader in games played at shortstop. He shouldn’t be on any wavier wires at this point.
Max Stassi is out there basically everywhere to help you out at catcher. This week was good for him, racking up 31 of his 43 points. You could certainly do worse than to grab him in the short term.
Jonathan India has looked pretty good of late, especially when he bats near the top of the order. The potential is there and if he can lock down the lead off spot he could be a nice second half breakout.
Tyler O’Neill is still chugging along, smashing bombs and putting up points. There’s no way he should still be floating around on any wavier wires, not with the streak he’s on. And if, by chance, he’s somehow available in your league you should change that right away.
Billy McKinney made his week look a whole lot better by blasting a pair of bombs en route to a 17 point day. You love to see it and that he’s playing more regularly but he doesn’t seem to be more that a short term or deep league fill in.
Patrick Wisdom is making anyone that took a chance on him last week look pretty wise as he doubled his season totals. The power binge has been great to see and while he will inevitably cool off at some point he’s worth a roster spot to ride the wave.
Jazz Chisholm has been pretty darn good when healthy, racking up hits, bombs and steals. You could argue that he’s already broken out this season but he could take it to another level over the second half of the season.
Daniel Vogelbach may have a tree trunk for a neck but that didn’t stop him from blasting a trio of longs ball last week. Who knows, maybe it helped. Don’t read too much into it, he’s capable of going on binges like this and then some but the lows will be pretty bad.
Jonathan Schoop continued making his case to be on more rosters with another strong week. If you need help at first or second you don’t want to overlook him just because he plays for the Tigers.
Eric Haase has himself a week, doubling his fantasy output. If you need catcher help, and most of you probably do, check him out. He’s too hot to not be worth taking a chance on.
