Will we get a pair of 30/30 seasons this year? Ronald Acuna is already there and could legitimately push for 40/40.  This is Starling Marte’s, (OF: $4,200) age 30 season so it seems fitting that he should join the club. If he wants to complete his quest, he sits at 23/24, he better put in some work today. That should be all the motivation he needs to help out your team. He’s coming on strong and Coors is just the place to keep it going.

In this age of prospects and chasing the hot new thing we can sometimes forget about the veterans such as Hunter Pence (OF: $4,000)  What a steal he’s been for the Rangers. He’s been so much better than they could have possibly hoped when invited him to camp. Today’s matchup should give him another opportunity to keep doing what he’s been doing all season. I’m still sad he’s no longer a Giant, but it’s great to see him thriving. He’s not a cheap option but the way he’s been playing, he certainly earned it. Best not to overlook him.

Power, power, power. After never topping 15 bombs in a season in the minors, Mike Yastrzemski (OF: $3,100) has joined the revolution and already has 13 in the show in under 70 games. He’s single handedly powering the Giants to the playoffs. (ok, they’re likely on the outside looking in, but I can dream) Will it continue? You bet it will. Yaz just blasted his way past his great grandfather’s rookie home run record and he’s in the Hall of Fame. Boom, get him.

Welcome to Thursday, we’ve got a short slate today as usual, with only 8 games. – It feels strange to keep featuring Jose Ramirez (3B: $3,300) here but… that price. Seems it hasn’t quite caught up to his recent surge. Don’t forget that he was one of the best fantasy players in the league not all that long ago. The way he’s been playing he’s worth top dollar but right now you don’t have to pay it. Sounds like a great deal to me, especially with the limited options today.

Welcome to August people. It’s hard to believe that July is already over, but here we are. The trade deadline has passed and we saw some surprising action (looking at you Mets and Reds) It certainly made things interesting as we watched our teams decide whether to buy or sell. I was happy to see the Giants make some moves without selling the farm. I’ve got a thing for prospects, it must be the allure of the shiny new kid on the block. They give hope to their fanbase that the future is bright.

The future is certainly bright in the North now that top prospect  Bo Bichette (SS: $2,700) is in the show.  Its an extremely small sample size but the early results are very promising. Fortunately, the small sample can actually help us in DFS before pitchers have time to adapt to him. If he’s batting leadoff, all the better for his value. That spot should provide him ample opportunity to run. He just crushed his first bomb and there should be plenty more where that came from. This ride is just getting started.

We’ve got some really strong pitching pitching options today with a couple bona fide aces in Max Scherzer ($12,000) and Jacob deGrom ($10,900) and they have the high price tags to match. They’re both great options as always but I’m a big fan of Jose Berrios (SP: $9,300) at his price today. He’s been a bit rocky recently but he last turn was encouraging. As long as he can keep the free passes in check he can dominate the Pale Hose. You can’t go wrong with Scherzer or deGrom, but save yourself a little to nab a top bat. Berrios is right on the edge of being an ace every time out as well. The talent is there and this matchup should allow him to showcase it.

This is an especially exciting day of DFS action because I will enjoying a game at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants as they host the New York Metropolitans. We should be in for a clash of epic proportions as Madison Bumgarner ($9,000) toes the rubber against Noah Syndergaard ($9,200). Thor hasn’t been great this year, though he has been improving. Truthfully, it’s probably that we’ve become so accustomed to his dominating performances that he seems like a letdown. Anywhoo…I’m just excited to watch him do his thing live. On the flip side we’ve got MadBum, who’s actually been looking back to form. I like him better of the two since he’s at home and the Giants offense has suddenly remembered that scoring runs is good. So let’s sit back and enjoy the show. Enjoy being at work dudes and dudettes, I’ll have some garlic fries for ya.

Happy 4th everybody. I hope you all celebrate safely this Independence Day. And what better way to celebrate than by enjoying some fireworks. One guy with the ability to really light it up is Joc Pederson(OF: $3,400). The power is spectacular and he’s facing a pitcher returning from the 60 day IL which means there is some rust to be expected. That could lead to mistakes over the middle that Joc can punish and put in the seats. This could be a fun show to watch.

It may have taken a while to get his feet under him but Scott Kingery, (OF: $3,500) has been a great fantasy option this year. Last season’s struggles are in the rear-view mirror. The stats really jump off the page, batting over .300 with double digit bombs and some speed. The results should continue to improve as he gets more ABs, especially Kepler keeps him in the leadoff spot. Sadly, that’s a real wild card and there’s no telling what he’ll do. Kingery has more than proven that he needs at bats and he should hopefully find himself in a prime slot while he’s raking. That makes him a solid choice.

Guess it’s Twin Day. Don’t look now but Minnesota is actually putting together a very fine season, currently holding a 9 game lead in the AL Central.  Max Kepler (OF: $4,100) and CJ Cron (1B: $3,400) have been a big part of that. Kepler is rolling in June and already has 6 bombs. Let’s watch for him keep it going today. The hits just keep on coming for Cron and at this point I think we have to accept that it’s legit. As long as he keeps proving himself don’t let yourself forget about him. You need this power in your life. You could certainly do far worse that get these Twins in your lineups.

If you’re looking to save some cash to use elsewhere and like to be bold, turn your attention to Rowdy Tellez (1B: $2,300). He doesn’t hit the ball often, but when he does it goes a long way. To wit, he has only 42 hits in 185 ABs on the season but 10 of them have left the yard. Boom goes the dynamite. Most importantly, he just looks like a slugger, which is to say…thicc. The price is right so take a gamble. You either bet big or you go home, you gotta risk it to get the biscuit.

Trading prospects is a big part of baseball. Contenders give up you talent to try and win now. And why not? So many prospects fail to pan out that a sure thing is often better. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but some trades hurt when you look back. Take Zack Wheeler (SP: $10,200) – Watching him blossom into an ace and dominate opposing hitters is great because he’s finally realizing his potential. Today it’s bittersweet as he gets the Giants (who traded him to the Mets for Carlos Beltran) and their inept offense. All of this makes me sad because the G-men could really use an ace right about now. He’s in line to dominate and should be well worth the high price tag. Yay.
