We kicked off the season with a solid opening week of streamers. Almost all of our pitchers performed well, but the hitters were all over the map. That tends to be the most likely outcome when providing streamers because predicting pitchers is much easier than predicting hitters. Please, blog, may I have some more?

Diamondbacks 1B Tim Tawa (25, AAA) had three walks, three home runs, two steals and zero strikeouts in his first four games, a monster start in all of our Triple-A fantasy leagues. Have to take his Salt Lake outcomes with a grain of . . . skepticism . . . but Tawa has produced throughout his career, which you kind of have to do to make your way as a 5’11” utility type, and the organization has enough confidence in him to use him at the keystone in Ketel Marte’s absence. If he hits, they might try to find room for him off the bench.
When looking for dynasty players to go after, it is easy to cast your gaze toward the young stars who are or were on all of the top prospect lists. You know, someone like Kristian Campbell. Going after someone like Campbell makes tons of sense as he will be an anchor player for years. But unless you are somehow able to corner the market on snagging every top 100 prospect, you will need to find players who fly under the radar and fill voids - because all teams have voids. That is why I am turning my attention to Otto Lopez of the Miami Marlins, a player who has taken advantage of being on a team that is rebuilding to establish himself as a solid major league player. Let's look at Mr. Lopez.

When the Netherlands landed on the ABC islands in the Caribbean, the Dutch made three requirements of all people, when farting in bed, pin the sheet tightly to the bed surface to not let any smell emit; all restaurant checks must be split in half with all attending parties, and, finally, all names must have some random J in the middle of it and end in ‘stad.’  Please, blog, may I have some more?

As one of Razzball’s resident advanced stat geeks, I strongly adhere to the principle that sample size matters A LOT when using statistics to evaluate player performance. Fantasy baseball, of course, is a game predicated on statistics and while it would be great to have the luxury of time to better evaluate players and allow for their performance to normalize and level out, we just aren’t afforded that luxury in this game. DFS is a fertile ground for biases to emerge, especially early in the season. Perhaps you drafted a player because you thought they were going to have a breakout year. Your bias may lead you to want to roster that player in DFS, but the matchup, the weather, and the ballpark factors also need to be heavily weighted in your decision among other things.  Please, blog, may I have some more?
