Back when I was in college in the cornfields of northwest Iowa, there was a prank called “snipe hunting.” Basically, you find a city slicker, tell him that you are going to a field to hunt snipes, give them a bag and send them out in the field, then the car you are in drives back, leaving the city slicker to find their way home. Stateside baseball starts tomorrow, get psyched! Right now, though, it’s time to focus on what’s important: preseason predictions! Before we dive deep into countless hours rearranging lineups, FAAB bids, and making trade offers in order to win a couple hundred dollars in our friends and family league, which equates to roughly twenty-eight cents per hour, we here at Razzball want to take a moment and document some predictions for the upcoming season. Draft season is just about done. But it’s not too late to knock off a couple more before the curtain lifts on the 2025 MLB season, stateside edition. Every year I grapple with my love of drafting with my desire to not have too many FAAB teams. Please, blog, may I have some more?
It was smooth sailing for filling the Razzball Commenter Leagues this year. Thank you everyone for getting in early and often! Only five drafts remain at this point with the Champions League waiting until the last possible moment to draft. Three leagues drafted Monday night, including the Perts League. On this week’s Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast, we finish up the rankings reviews with starting pitchers part 2 where we talk about pitchers 42, AND BEYOND! The second part of starting pitchers rankings covers the depth portion of your pitching staff. Please, blog, may I have some more?
I’m a big fan of the everyman. I consider myself the everyman. I’m every man’s everyman. A pioneer of normcore. Track pants and a blinking light on my car’s dashboard that either means my seatbelt isn’t on or I need oil. Please, blog, may I have some more?
Happy Monday, Razzball faithful!
Last week, I gave you a breakdown of our TGFBI league’s draft with a write-up on the starters that both The Lineup Builder and I chose from our respective draft slots. That was a pretty extensive breakdown of arms, and I hope it helped you gather up some information about certain starting pitchers you might want to draft (or avoid) in your drafts last week. The first two games are officially in the books. So, what did we learn in Tokyo?

I know it’s an extremely small sample size but work with me here people!
We learned:

- All six games (four exhibition and two MLB) were sellouts at 42,000+ fans each
- Shohei Ohtani picked right back up where he left off, launching baseballs and selling merch
- Max Muncy joins an exclusive club with a hit in five different countries
- Young Roki Sasaki is already a professional pitcher
- Kyle Tucker is going to be a fan favorite at Wrigley
- Matt Shaw looks like he’s going to stick at the hot corner
- Miguel Rojas’ defensive work made us temporarily forget Mookie’s absence
- Freddie Freeman’s fantasy owners will need patience this season
- Koji Uehara’s ceremonial first pitch got the attention of NYY and NYM brass
- The Dodgers can still win comfortably without two of their best players
- That 3-D replay system used at the stadium has officially changed the game
“These things are all well and good, but we’re trying to win a Points league championship. Please, blog, may I have some more?
[smells in deeply] What’s that, a new baseball season? How do I know? Because they’re playing baseball! That’s the wrong answer? Oh, because Royce Lewis is injured! That has to be the answer! No? That’s not it either? Because I’m craving a hot dog? Please, blog, may I have some more?
The long, cold offseason is finally over, and the crack of the bat, the pop of the mitt, and the hum of ballpark anticipation are back. Opening Day isn’t just a celebration of baseball’s return—it’s a reset button for fantasy managers everywhere. We all know that spring training doesn’t mean everything, but don’t tell that to the Blue Jays and Giants, who are claiming early victories with impressive performances. As much as we try to look the other way, there are always nuggets of information for fantasy owners to mine. Spring training breakouts, injury recoveries, and early lineup decisions have reshuffled the landscape, making now the perfect time to refresh our Top 100 Hitters for the 2025 fantasy baseball season. Good luck this season, and thanks for following along!
Guardians 2B Juan Brito lost out in his bid for the second base job despite going five for his last ten at bats with zero strikeouts and two home runs. Tyler Freeman has been electric this spring, and though he’s been playing outfield this year after coming up as an infielder, he could probably slide back to the dirt if that's his path to playing time. Gabriel Arias continues to exist and might be the opening day starter. I have never seen what Cleveland sees in him, but that’s irrelevant. Perhaps Cleveland will recall Brito at the first signs of distress at the keystone, but I’m not encouraged right now.
UPDATE: Freeman has been traded to Colorado for Nolan Jones. Unclear if this means anything to Brito's chances, or if the Guardians are simply pursuing their quest to get Gabriel Arias as much playing time as possible.
