Well, well, well… the lockout is finally over and Opening Day is fast approaching. Unfortunately this leaves us with a very short window to evaluate players, especially with free agents signing as we speak and some still looking for a new ball park to call home. Now that we know when games will be starting it’s time to get ready for your draft. Hopefully your league decided to wait to draft so we can see how things shake out in free agency and monitor spring training battles. With that in mind, it’s time to get into my thoughts on pitchers in points leagues and move into more specific players to target as we approach the start of the season.

The post season is in full swing and that means it’s time to reflect on what we just saw. We took a look at the MVPs last week but now it’s time to check in on the top scorers and see how they looked in the preseason. Yep, this will be fun and there’s no possible way that I could have gotten anything wrong. We’ll be going off of ESPN standard scoring for the purposes of this reflection since that’s the format I am most familiar with and that the format I used for my preseason rankings. Most importantly, we’ll be bringing pitchers back into the mix this time around. So here we go, I present the top 10 players in points leagues for the 2021 season.

It’s almost hard to believe that the season is wrapping up but here we are. Since there’s no next week to pick up players for it’s time to look back on the season. We’ll get into position groups later but here are some guys who outperformed their draft position going into the season. You won’t find guys like Juan Soto here. Yes, he was great after a sluggish start but he was a top five pick. We want the league winners, the draft day values. So here are some guys who stood out to me.

We’ve come to the final Thursday of the regular season and not every race for the postseason has been decided. That’s good news for us because teams who still have something to play for will be sending out their best. The downside of that is that you’ll have to pay up for guys such as Bo Bichette, (SS: $3,800) He’s pricey but oh boy has Bo turned into a fantasy stud this season. You love to see a guy that can hit near .300, approach 30 dongs, and swipe 20 bags. He does it all and that means monster point potential. Fire him up today with full confidence.

This is it, time to push all your chips to center and go all in. With that in mind here are some last minute pickups that can help you bring it home. We’ve got quite a few repeat names on this list as we did last week but these guys are still out there in too many leagues and you can pick them up and put them directly into your lineup. There’s not enough time left in the season to stash guys for later. There is no later, you need points and you need them now. It’s been a fun season, now let’s take it home.

Welcome into another edition of Butters does DFS. The season is growing short and we don’s have many chances left to earn that sweet, sweet DFS money. Fortunately, there are guys like Adolis Garcia (OF: $3,400) just waiting to help you out. I love him and I don’t care who knows. Adolis is great, he has a great arm and while that doesn’t do anything for fantasy, he does have 30 dongs on the year. And that does count for fantasy, it counts a ton. I think this is a smash spot for him and you won’t want to be left on the sidelines.

We’re really coming down to the wire now with less than two weeks left in the season so it’s time to pull out all the stops and just go for it. Even though the season is winding down, there are still lots of available hitters who are heating up. Don’t let football distract you from the championship you’ve been chasing all season. You need to make your moves now and the guys below can help carry you there. Now go win that trophy.

We’re coming up on the end but as teams fight for playoff position there is still plenty of opportunities to win some of that sweet DFS cash. He may not be on a playoff team but Frank Schwindel (C/1B: $3,500)  just keeps hitting and is putting up a near top-shelf performance for not a top-shelf price. His salary has started to creep up, but he’s still below the top tier price-wise. So get schwifty and enjoy his top-tier numbers.

What is up party people? Fantasy football may have kicked off but there are still fantasy baseball championships to be won, so focus up. Well, I suppose that if you’re here you’re already focused. And for that, I appreciate you. It’s been a thrilling game so far but that’s nothing compared to the thrill of taking home a championship trophy in fantasy baseball. One of the best and worst things about fantasy baseball is the length of the season. It’s a grind, plain and simple. Games happen everyday so there is so much more to analyse and (over)react to.

So if you’re still with me, I applaud you. You’ve put in the work and made it this far. The finish line is in sight and you can almost taste it. Time to bring it home and these guys are here to help.

Salvador Perez has been an absolute force at the plate lately. Well, actually he’s been great all season. Blasting 42 hoe runs will do that for ya in points leagues. Did I mention that he’s a catcher? As if that wasn’t enough the rest of his numbers have been pretty good as well. Let hi take you home and I would love nothing more than for the MLB home run leaders to be a pitcher and a catcher.

What is up party people? Football is upon us, but there’s still baseball to be played and DFS money to he made. Ditch that oil and gas and power up your team with Jorge Soler, OF: $3,400. It’s the technology of the future, available today. And the best part… it’s more affordable than you think. Find out what Soler can do for you and you’ll be rolling in green. His bat has really started to come alive since switching uniforms and you can reap the rewards today.

If you’re still reading I think it’s safe to assume that you have a playoff spot either locked up or on the line this week. And to that I say congrats. You’ve made it this far, not it’s time to take it home and hoist that championship trophy. So how do you win in the playoffs? Well, you’ve been winning in order to make the playoff in the first place so keep doing what you’ve been doing, it’s clearly working.

Start your studs

You hear this a lot with fantasy football, but it applies here as well. You want your best guys in your lineup. Obviously. But what it really means is don’t get too cute it. Could the guy you just snagged off the wire outscore fantasy god Shohei Ohtani? Yes, it could happen, but the odds are heavily in favor of the Sho.

Max out your starts

Whatever limit your league has on starts, smash it. Otherwise you’re just leaving points on the table. Take advantage of Streamonator to find your plug and play guys. I seriously can’t recommend it enough and it’s been responsible for more than a few of my wins. You can’t replace a true ace but you can approximate their points by rolling out a streaming pitcher every day if your league allows it.

Hey hey, party people, we’ve got an exciting slate of action as teams fight for playoff position. Fantasy wise we’ve some guys at great prices, especially on the mound. One of the best options is Carlos Carrasco, SP: $6,800 – What if I told you that today’s number one pitcher was available for basically nothing? Cookie projects to be right up there with the top dogs but for a whole lot less. His price probably has something to do with the 6.94 ERA and I can see why that might put some of you off. However, he has strung together a couple of good starts, which is encouraging. Also encouraging is his match-up today. You can’t beat the value.
