Blake Snell has a real opportunity tonight to body-slam the battered Texas Rangers. Missing a couple of key components in the offense, the Rangers have managed a measly .674 OPS as a team. In addition to the injuries, they offer a huge strikeout potential, as they ranked 4th in the entire MLB in Ks. Snell has always been somewhat of an enigma but he has the stuff to dominate a lineup, as he proved his last time out (6IP 1ER 10Ks). Lastly, the game is being played indoors and offers no chance of a PPD, when it seems every game is being postponed these days. Let’s take a look at the rest of the picks…

Pitchers

Luis Severino, P: Top choice of the night, facing a squad full of Minor Leaguers who have really struggled to score runs. He has ACE stuff and not much has to be said about the match-up.

Aaron Nola, P: Kapler finally took the training wheels off last game and let Nola work deep into the game and throw 103 pitches. He had a nice start brewing against the Braves last time out before he was prematurely removed from the game.

Hitters

Asdrubal Cabrera, IF: Juicy match-up vs. AJ, against whom he does have some prior success in a small sample. Has been swinging a hot bat as of late (3Hrs 1.110 OPS in his last 7).

Gary Sanchez, IF: He isn’t going to hit .140 forever and he is starting to heat up. Squaring off vs LHP Caleb Smith is a nice recipe to do some damage. A career .893 OPS against southpaws shows Sanchez can handle them.

Corey Dickerson, OF: He’s on fire at the moment and gets a struggling pitcher in German Marquez. The man who was left for dead has found a nice home in Pittsburgh and has always mashed RHP.

Cody Bellinger, OF: No sophomore slump so far to begin 2018. He faces Luis Perdomo, who has allowed a .304 AVG and .474 SLG to lefties throughout his career.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Instead of telling you what games are in danger, we should talk about the games that are safe, or at least that’s what it feels like these days. The Patriot’s Day game in Boston has already been postponed. Chicago has a good chance of snow and it’s going to be very cold at 30 degrees. Can it be summer already!

Doing Lines In Vegas

Hammer the Yankees at 1.5 runs at -150. Colorado and Pittsburgh has the makings of a slugfest: the O/U is set at 8.5. Best value of the night is TB Rays at -1.5 at +135.
