Lets get that championship. We’re really getting into crunch time now and fortunately there are still some untapped gems who can help you close out the season on a high note. With expanded rosters for MLB teams we’ll get to see some of the games next studs experience their first taste of big league action. Gunnar Henderson finally got the call and has the potential to make an immediate splash, which he showed off by going yard for his first major league hit. There’s no good reason for the Orioles to call him up as a bench player so expect to see him in the lineup often. Not only do you want that, you need that.

Oh boy it sure was fun diving deep into the wavier wire. At this point, you’re committed and that goes for the rest of your league as well. Or at least I sincerely hope that it does, because it’s way more fun to win against opponents who are putting in the effort. Obviously, a championship is still a championship but it feels sooo much better when it is the best of the best. Iron sharpens iron as they say. That means we have to dig a little deeper to find some guys to add. They are out there, so let’s see who is a hottie. We’re short and sweet today but there is some good stuff out there.

Congratulations readers, if you’re still here and not thinking about football season starting up soon, I can only assume that means you’re still in the running for a fantasy baseball championship. By this point in the season most of the hot waiver names have long since been scooped up so we have to dig a little deeper. Time to turn over a few rocks, shake a few trees, and see who we can find to help you for the season’s home stretch.

You want some players to add for points leagues? Well you are in luck because I’ve got some players that might just be floating around on your waiver wire. Power is king in points leagues, I’ve preached that before, but you can’t discount high batting average guys. A single might not be worth as much as a dong but hits do add up. At this point in the season you’re not going to be able to grab a 40 home run hitter. I really wish you could, they were more than likely scooped up long ago. Man intros are hard…. but I shall press on. These are not necessarily league winners but they could be just the boost you need.

Wowza, the last few days have sure been a wild ride and now we’re left to deal with the fallout. For Juan Soto, if anything, it changes his situation for the better because he’s now on a team that’s trying to win with a supporting cast to match. Not a whole lot you can do with this information if you don’t already have him because there’s no way another manager would give him up at this point. A new member of Sexy Dr Pepper’s is one of this season’s bigger surprises. Brandon Drury is in the midst of a breakout season but this move looks like it could be a downgrade for him. The park isn’t as hitter friendly but playing time could be a bigger concern with that stacked lineup. He can play all over defensively but he definitely has more competition now. I won’t say to dump him but I am keeping a close eye on how the lineups are constructed. Grey already went over all the trade deadline fallout and although not specifically points focused he goes over who gets a boost and who takes a dive from changing teams. Now let’s get on to some names to look for on the waiver wire.

Went over the top 25 last week and the comments reminded me to point something out about these rankings. In an effort to be as objective as possible, I am presenting them in the exact order of their projections. One of the great things about points leagues is how straightforward they are. That being said, the exact ranking that an individual player has next to his name isn’t important. In many cases, players are clustered together with four or five guys separated by only a couple points. This basically groups everyone into tiers, afterall, a single homerun one way or the other could shift a guys projection up or down multiple spots in the rankings. The moral of the story is, don’t read too much into what rank a guy holds on this list. Best of luck in the second half and may you bring home that championship. And now, on to the best of the rest.

Well well well, ladies and gents (I do hope I have regular readers) the second half of the season is about to kick off. I sincerely hope your team is undefeated at this juncture. But who cares about the first half, all that matters is how you finish. Fret not, for I have ranked them all. We’re talking every player over the second half. Projection data is taken from the Razzball Steamer Rest of Season projections. That is then converted into point totals, the number in brackets following each players name. Yeah a lot of them will be on a roster already, in fact, I would be pretty disappointed in you if they weren’t. But anyhoo, here’s the new rankings for the second half. Use this info to help in trade negotiations and hope that the rest of your league isn’t reading Razzball as well. When perusing these rankings keep in mind that in many cases point totals can be very close. In that case, prioritize the position you need or the guy you enjoy watching.

Can you believe it’s almost the All Star Break? Seems like just yesterday we were drafting teams and gearing up for the season. Hopefully you managed to grab a few of the Fantasy All Stars in your drafts or made some hot wavier adds. Fear not for there are always more spicy names to grab that provide just the boost your squad is missing. So lets punch this Popsicle and see who’s riding a hot streak. It’s always a smart decision to check for guys such as Michael Harris II – Most likely rostered, hopefully by you, but according to ESPN he’s still available in about 40% of leagues. That’s way too many but it probably means that those leagues have given up on the season. Either way, if he’s out there, grab him now.

What is up party people! How can you not be romantic about baseball? Especially fantasy baseball… Zeros become heroes and you become a champion. That’s the dream. Well that dream doesn’t happen if you’re not constantly analyzing your team and trimming the fat. We are rapidly approaching the All Star break which means we’re closing in on the halfway point in the season. I shouldn’t have to say this, and I have to remind myself of this from time to time, but all that matters now is what can these players do for your team going forward. I’m not saying to trade your entire team if you are dissatisfied with their performance but I’ve got some guys below who might just be better than the guys you’ve got.

All Stars are fun but by this point in the season they aren’t kicking around on the wavier wire for you to scoop up.  Hopefully you managed to draft or snag a few of them earlier in the season. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. Let’s find some hidden gems.

Jon Berti – I’ll be honest, Berti wasn’t a guy I thought I’d be writing about in a points league post. Speed is his calling card, he leads the league in steals with 22, and that’s not really the stat you want to chase in points leagues.. The utility man figures to have an everyday role at second base locked down while Jazz Chisholm Jr is on the IL with a back injury. Berti has been money in June, batting .309 and swiping bases like it’s going out of style. The long and short of it is that he’s racking up points and even though the average will come down, the everyday at bats give him value.

All Star voting is in full swing for the MLB (go vote for your favorites) so lets turn our attention to the fantasy baseball points league All Stars. I don’t want this list to just be a look at the top 3 at each position because you can check that on whatever platform you’re playing on. Plus I want to recognize some performances from guys no one was talking about during draft season. And it’s my list so I can write about whoever I want. Let me know who you disagree with below or on Twitter. Hopefully you were able to snag a few of these guys for your squad.

So without further ado… I preset my 2022 Fantasy Baseball Points League All Stars.

Time to play hot or not. Well… mostly we’ll just be playing who’s hot and who’s hotter. It’s more fun anyways. I’ve always been a fan of looking at the past couple weeks when deciding who to add to my team. It’s still a small sample size but it shows a bit of consistency. Everyone would love to grab a league winner of the wavier wire but sometimes all you need is a guy who can give you a quick boost. Fantasy baseball is a grind so just take it one week at a time. And bury your opponent in an avalanche of points.
