Tuesday night, there was much action piling into the DFS Volkswagen that was the Toronto Blue Jays hitting. Many saw the matchup against rookie LHP Adam Morgan and stacked their rosters full of Jays accordingly. Not an inexpensive stack, the Jays proceeded to roll up runs in the first two innings, including a dinger from freshly minted leadoff man Devon Travis. The rout was on, yes?

No. The Jays scored exactly zero runs after the second inning, landing at a total of two runs. Six hits, two runs. Chris Young almost did that himself for the Yankees in Texas.

Looking at the docket for tonight, there are the Blue Jays again, like Lucy and the football, inviting you to run up on them again and try to kick that football through the posts and take down all the tourneys.

But you are weary from landing flat on your back Tuesday night. Two runs. Six hits. And that was against a rookie LHP at the Rogers Centre. Optimal situation and they laid down. You begin talking yourself into Jose Reyes being the key to the whole thing and that chemistry will be irrevocably switched like what happened to the Oakland A’s last season when the hot A’s dealt Yoenis Cespedes to the Red Sox and suddenly the Swingin’ A’s swung no more.

It’s understandable to be wary of going all in on Toronto just one day after you felt used and ashamed from striking out with them last night. Surely the Yankees look like a good place to lay all my monies, right? Well, yes, that’s a good place, too, but you shouldn’t take your red pen and cross off the Jays.

Jerome Williams is not good either and the situation is good again for the home-roosting Jays, so as we’ve said many times in this space, put on your anti-memory hat and make sure you have some exposure to this game and its players. And since fewer players, still highly owned I’m sure but less than Tuesday for sure, will be willing to dive into a less optimal scenario again so soon, you may have a better edge than if you had done this the night before.

Clayton Kershaw, SP: $15,000 – Fifteen Thousand Dollars. It’s outrageous, egregious and preposterous. But look at the rest of the slate. Are there two other guys that you can feel good about giving any money to, much less what they’re going to be rostered for? Kershaw is almost automatic for putting up 22-23 DraftKings points and is a giganticus favoritus, so while he may not make the 3x you would normally look for, good luck knowing which SP is going to provide that tonight, if any.

Chris Tillman, SP: $6,000 – Here’s one guy who could get it done and brings your overall spend on the SP down to a manageable 21K. He’s a -180 favorite against the Braves in Baltimore. He’s not a great pitcher, but you’re not asking him to be. 18 FP seems reasonable as his last three starts yielded 18.2, 36.8 and 16.1 against the Rays, Tigers and Nationals respectively.

Yasmani Grandal, C: $3,400 – Oh, how soon the prices forget. Grandal is still crushing and is hitting the ball in the air over 50% of the time in the last 30 days. I’d take ten of him, but I’m allowed only one, so that’ll have to do.

Dioner Navarro, C: $2,900 – Just so you know I’m keeping my eye on value since I’m hawking Kershaw tonight. Navarro is a low priced piece of the Jays stack assuming he’s in the lineup so check-up.

Edwin Encarnacion, 1B: $4,400 – Here’s someone who really railroaded the DFS players who rostered him Tuesday. Just about any other first basemen seemed to rake, leaving the empty, expensive hole Encarnacion left in lineup that much more painful. He has the power stroke back over the last 30 days, so shake it off and go back for more. 4.4K at home for Encarnacion is a straight steal.

Justin Smoak, 1B: $2,600 – A straight Vegas/price play, Smoak is even less likely to be in the lineup, but check anyway because if he is, it’s yet another low-priced entry to this top team. But lest you think he’s a lamb in lamb’s clothing, he’s maintaining his hard contact rates (they’re good) and he has been raising his fly ball ratio, too.

Cesar Hernandez, 2B/ss: $2,900 – He’s back below 3K after a nice run and didn’t deliver against Felix Doubront Tuesday. He has R.A. Dickey tonight, though, so he’s a nice price play at the top of the lineup.

Kolten Wong, 2B: $4,100 – Kolten Wong has had it going on and has been one of my favorite 2B plays further up the stack over the last month. He’s hitting the ball with pop and has a nice matchup at home against the Reds’ DeSclafani and, as is his custom now, batting first.

Manny Machado, 3B: $4,400 – Love him leading off at home and against a LHP (Banuelos) – has showed his top end power face all year this year.

Hanley Ramirez SS/OF: $3,900 – Good matchup against LHP Quintana at home in Boston. Weather conditions are good for hitting which has pushed the team total for Boston up (4 1/2 runs) without inflating Hanley’s price. That he’s still SS eligible is a happy place.

Xander Bogaerts, 3B/SS: $3,400 – Has been batting in the middle of the Sox lineup and has the same tasty matchup that Ramirez has against LHP Quintana.

Delino DeShields, Jr., OF: $3,700 – Delino’s price drops because of Masahiro Tanaka but the weather is still great and Tanaka can be had. DeShields bats first and has been exceeding expectations. The Rangers are slated to score four runs tomorrow and DeShields will be right in the middle of that.

Ichiro Suzuki, OF: $2,000 – He’s been playing and he’s still minimum priced. On DraftKings, getting a hit means three points, which puts Suzuki in a good place to provide value at this tiny price tag. Make sure he’s in the lineup but if he is, let him give you that value.

Nolan Reimold, OF: $2,500 – Reimold has taken a little dip from a couple of months ago, but his price is great, especially at home against Banuelos.

Jose Bautista, OF: $5,100 – Never again, some might utter. Don’t let that be you.  Just be sure to check and see that the hamstring issue isn’t too serious.

Jacoby Ellsbury, OF: $4,400 – Nice play against Colby Lewis and the Rangers in great weather. The Yankees, coming of a 21 run night, could be over-owned but Ellsbury is a great lineup spot and should be able to hit Lewis, so chalk it up a little here with all the other plays you’ll have after rostering Kershaw.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

No obvious rain as of this writing, but always check. Temperatures are optimal for hitting in Texas and Boston tomorrow. Enjoy!

Doing Lines In Vegas

Toronto, despite their egg laid Tuesday, remains the high team total for the night at 5.9. The Orioles are next at 4.7 and then the Yankees at 4.5. Kershaw is a huge favorite at -288 and R.A. Dickey is next at -239, but that has more to do with Toronto than anything to do with Dickey.
