So many people are fanatics about Shark Week. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just log on any social media outlet on July 5th of this year. I would advise not doing so unless you like endless rants by teenagers who are fascinated with sea creatures. Instead, you should play some DraftKings fantasy baseball. Maybe the real Shark will be pitching that day. With his 4.00+ ERA, I’m not sure they even call Jeff Samardzija the Shark anymore actually (maybe he’s like a toothless shark or something). He just happens to be pitching today, and he will be in my lineup.  The Twins can make any right handed pitcher look good this year. Samardzija has looked rough this year, but he is coming off of an 8 inning, 3 ER performance. We know he has the capability to be an ace. He finally looks right and has a great match-up to go with it.

Ubaldo Jimenez, P: $7000 – An opposing pitcher in Marlins park is never a bad idea. The ballpark is about the worst there is for hitting home runs, and the Marlins offense is just not good. Meanwhile, Ubaldo is striking out 8.4 per 9 innings and has just a 2.43 ERA.

Shark and Ubaldo are my favorite 2 pitching plays of the day, but I would feel comfortable recommending any of Max ScherzerNoah SyndergaardGerrit Cole, and Michael Pineda as well.  I decided to focus on cheap hitting options today as requested by readers. Always feel free to comment and I will try my best to respond to you in a timely manner. Anyways, back to baseball:

Brian McCann, C: $3700 – All Yankees lefties are good plays against Colby Lewis today. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were multiple home runs hit by them today.

Brandon Moss, 1B/OF: $4100 – Moss has hit 5 of his 6 home runs this year off of right handed pitching. Mike Leake has given up 7 of his 9 home runs to left handed hitters. Moss went yard just 2 days ago, so don’t be surprised if he does it again.

Jace Peterson, 2B/3B: $3300 – In daily fantasy baseball, it is always a good strategy to try to maximize your at-bats. The most likely players to get extra ABs are those hitting at the top of the order. Not only is Peterson hitting lead-off, but he is hitting .269 this year with an OBP of .346. He is getting on base, which means he has plenty of run scoring opportunities. He (and Braves lefties in general) have a solid match-up today against Wily Peralta. Peterson is my favorite “punt” of the day.

Kyle Seager, 3B: $4400 – Seager is hitting .316 with 5 runs scored, 6 RBIs, and 2 home runs over the last 10 days. He has been on fire. Marco Estrada may be the biggest fly ball pitcher in all of baseball, and the game is in Toronto which allows a ton of home runs. I love Robinson Cano just as much as I do Seager here today too.

Ian Desmond. SS: $4400 – After a very slow start to the season, Ian Desmond has homered in back to back games. He is much better against righties than he is lefties, and gets Sean O’Sullivan today. He is also hitting second in the order.

Steve Pearce, 1B/OF: $3800 – Steve Pearce just produces. For 2 years now, he’s been one of the top bats in the Orioles lineup. If he could ever move up from 6th in the batting order, I’d play him even more often. Though he is only hitting .198 this season, he is hitting almost .300 over his past 5 games including 2 home runs, one of which was a grand slam. Henderson Alvarez has been terrible this year. This is a great match up to continue his hot hitting.

Randal Grichuk, OF: $3500 – The story on Grichuk is that the Angels selected him 1 pick ahead of Mike Trout in the MLB draft. Grichuk is a raw power hitter who lead AAA with 28 home runs last season. He also has 5 extra base hits over his last 3 games including 2 triples. There is a lot of upside for a cheap price with this pick.

Adam Eaton, OF: $3800 – Over his first 24 games this season, Adam Eaton had a batting average of just .186 after hitting .300 least season. Eaton is now riding a 10 game hitting streak and has his season average up to .236. Over those last 10 games, he is hitting .349 with 9 runs scored and 5 extra base hits. The White Sox get Phil Hughes today which makes pretty much the whole team a good play. Eaton has a really high floor today. It would shock me to see less than 5 DK points from him.

I’m only happy when it rains

Most of the rain has cleared up around the country. There is a slight chance of rain in Colorado and Kansas City, so keep an eye on the Giants, Rockies, Royals, and Cardinals. I don’t think there is too much to worry about.

Doing lines in Vegas

The line in the Rockies/Giants game is 10. There will be runs scored in that game, and the hitters are pretty much all solid plays. The problem is, they are very expensive on DraftKings. I would make sure I had some player from this game in my lineup though. The other games all have lines of 8 and below. A pitching heavy day it seems.
