What are the Razzball/Steamer MLB player projections?
These projections combine the skill projections from Steamer Projections with playing time projections (and some additional tweaks) from Rudy Gamble at Razzball.
What are the time periods for seasonal Razzball/Steamer projections?
There are two primary time periods: Preseason and Rest of Season.
Within the Razzball player pages, there are projections for hitters based on 150 games facing LHP and RHP as well as 150 game / 30 GS projections for the top 250+ valued fantasy prospects.
Where can I access these projections?
The projections are accessible via the Stats/Projections menu on Razzball baseball pages, the prospect projections (aka Prospectonator) are accessible via the Prospects menu, and both are incorporated into the individual players in the Razzball player pages. In 2024, these projections are available on NFBC player pages.
How often are the projections updated?
From the initial versions of the Preseason Projections (around Jan 1) through the end of the Preseason, the projections are updated at least several days a week. There are many days where the projections are updated multiple times a day. Note there is a timestamp at the top of the projections pages.
Rest of Season projections are updated at least twice a day (early morning, mid-day) during the season.
What are the main commonalities between Razzball/Steamer projections vs the official Steamer projections (aka the ones available on FanGraphs)?
- Steamer park-neutralized rate stats based on hitter/pitcher handedness and pitcher role (SP vs RP): e.g., AVG, HR/PA for hitters, SO/Batters Faced for pitchers, etc.
- Steamer projected skill split for hitter/pitcher handedness
- Home park factors
What are the main differentiations between Razzball/Steamer projections vs the official Steamer projections (aka the ones available on FanGraphs)?
The following are the major components that are unique to Razzball/Steamer projections. These typically impact counting stats more than rate stats.

Are any stats aggregated from other sources?
No. Every piece of the projection is some combination of Razzball and Steamer.
Are Steamer Projections compensated for this or is Razzball making free use of their publicly available projections?
We have a long-term partnership agreement with Steamer Projections that involves compensation.
How are they different from Grey’s preseason projections?
Grey’s preseason projection are independently produced by Grey Albright. There is no overlap between the two sets of projections aside from the player pool.
