Someone defrost Ted Williams’ head, Jed Lowrie is hitting .516.  If Mickey Rooney were playing the part of Dice-K, he’d say Jed is so Lovrie.  That’s if we can pull Rooney away from pooping in your neighbor’s chimney.  Right now, Lowrie is seasoning up fantasy steaks something delicious, but can this continue?  No, of course not.  Can he hit .280 with 10 homers?  Sure.  Can he get to 15 homers?  Is the moon made of green cheese? (Actually, it is.)  Lowrie has a heart three sizes too big for his body and a thermos filled with spunk.  But spunk’s a category in your league?  Some would find that hard to swallow.  He has little to no speed and, if he slumps for a second, Marco…Scutaro could go back to popping up in the most unlikely places.  But, hey, it’s not like you need much.  Lowrie could be a top ten shortstop with only one good month of stats.  I’d absolutely pick him up but don’t drop a proven commodity.  Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Daisuke Matsuzaka – 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 baserunners (1 Hit), 3 Ks.  That’s nice, I’m not buying.  If you go with him, you’re rolling the Dice, K?

Jacoby Ellsbury – Hit his 4th homer yesterday as he and A-Gon go on casting calls for the remake to Vice Versa.

Jerry Sands – Called up by the Dodgers because Mattingly used to have a dope ‘stache and he loves crazy women.  Okay, those aren’t related, but I like to think they are in my effort to emulate Mattingly.  Sands looks like another Razzball favorite, the mollywhopping, pony stick-galloping, Mike Stanton.  Just not quite as much power.  Let’s say Mike Stanton Jr.  Last year, Sands had 17 homers in Double-A in half a year (68 games).  This year in Triple-A, he had 5 homers in 10 games.  That’s a yes, please and thank you.  For this year, I’d give Sands 20 homers, .250 average and 5 steals.  There’s upside, obviously, so I picked him up everywhere I could.  (Yes, I’m looking with my stink eye towards Yahoo for not having him in their player universe.  Can they just have everyone in the minors like CBS or only the players on the 40 man roster?  Because this willy-nilly, no one has any idea who is actually in the player universe is lamer than dog balls.)

Jason Heyward – Hitting 2nd with McLouth in the lineup.  You should’ve took the under.

Rick Ankiel – Supposedly, the Nats aren’t happy with Ankiel’s production.  No way!  C’mon, really?  Wow, if they would’ve just read Razzball in March, I would’ve told them to start the season with Roger Bernandina.  Keep your eye on Roger, roger?

Travis Wood – 3 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 9 baserunners, 3 Ks and three first inning runs.  He must be hanging out with Crazy Edinson.

Aroldis Chapman – Returned and threw over 100 MPH.  “Geez, Pa, that’s fast.”  That’s what Steve Pearce said to Lyle Overbay.

Mike Leake – Arrested for stealing $60 worth of t-shirts from Macy’s.  The pressure to keep up with Jay Bruce’s Ed Hardy collection is just too intense.  If a cop sees you take a leak, it’s public indecency.  So what’s it called when Leake takes something.

Tyson Ross – Going from Macy’s to Ross, Tyson Ross would be my choice to take Braden’s next scheduled start on Friday in Safeco.  Ross had a solid spring and almost made the rotation.  So far in Oakland, he has a 10+ K/9, but, as I tell my girlfriends, beware the small sample size.  I like him for a spot start on Friday, if he gets it, then we’d have to take it from there.

Cody Ross – Sticking with the bargain basement Ross theme, Bochy said Belt could be sent down as soon as Tuesday, which is today on your Mayan calendars.  “Don’t stare into the day Wednesday!”  That’s what it says on my Mayan calendar.

Kevin Correia – 9 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks.  Yeah, should’ve drafted him instead F-Her.  Nice!

Francisco Liriano – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 2 Ks.  Baby steps, Bob, baby steps.

Adam Jones – 1-for-4, 3rd homer.  There was only one hitter in the O’s lineup hitting over .250.  That’s Brian Roberts at .266.  Member when they were 6-1 to start the year?  They haven’t won since.  Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

Sam Fuld – 4-for-4, hitting .396 on the year.

Justin Morneau – Out again with the flu.  Instead of Theraflu, Canadians take Cariflu which is 50% medicine, 50% caribou semen.

  1. Mike from Jersey says:

    Shaun Marcum= top 15 pitcher?
    BTW interesting stat I dug up on Marcum. His 2008 and 2010 seasons (hurt 2009 as you know), .234 BAA in the AL east. In that time span- Lester had a .240 BAA. In his first 2 years with the yanks, CC’s is around .235. Marcum has quietly been as dominant as the big boys. Looks to have rebounded from the shoulder tightness and rough first start (I read the cold weather affected his changeup).

  2. Just another guy says:

    I hate shortstops. I hate them all. Who you liking better of Escobar and Desmond at this point?

  3. A guy in my 20-team league picked up Lowrie minutes before the deadline to have him active for yesterday’s short schedule, and then he sat him.

    Anyway, the never-ending process of prospecting for saves here … I picked up Motte a few days back but now Lindstrom has been dropped. Recalling Street’s injury history, should I drop Motte for Lindstrom? Or grab Lindstrom at the expense of someone else (Beachy or Bourjos are the most likely candidates)? Or just stay put?

  4. kenny powers says:

    Love the What About Bob reference, along with the Groundhog day reference a couple days ago. You got a thing for Bill Murry movies? Dont get me wrong, those two are a couple of my faves. Thanks for all the help on the site!

  5. lothda says:

    So far picking up Lowrie to play while Utley is on the DL has worked perfectly.

    What is up with Cincy’s pitching? Theft, injuries, total sucking….

  6. alex says:

    I’m calling a Chris Heisey Breakout! Gomes or Stubbs get hurt or slump he should get a bulk of the AB’s. I think he’s got 20-20 potential with a better average then Stubbs

  7. Paulie Allnuts

    Paulie Allnuts says:

    Yahoo has been leaving off minor league add-ons for years. Then whaen they do put them on the FA list, you have to use a waiver shoice to pick them up. Everyone knows about their existence by then, and the Greysian edge is gone.

    Maybe Leake is hanging out with Winona Ryder and Lindsay Lohan? But at least the latter two snatched items that were worth something. $59.99 in shirts? Where was he shopping at, K-Mart?

    Cariflu had me in stitches.

    Out of these pitchers, whom would you start: Wandy, B. Anderson, Shields, Burnett, Pavano?

    PS-Thanks for starting me day laughing my a** of and waking up my wife at 4:00 AM.

  8. Paulie Allnuts

    Paulie Allnuts says:

    Oh, I almost forgot: the Unveillance, a new data Leake intelligence organization, recently announced the launch of their new cloud-based botnet intelligence platform. But the plan got Dustied. Does this all add up to Sam LeCure having a bit more value?

  9. Steve says:

    I’m a day late with this, but Ryan Franklin would have a much better chance of saving games if he would get rid of that ridiculous beard.

  10. Michael Bourne says:

    Cariflu? That explains a LOT. I will take that Ellsbury dime.

    Re Mike Leake: Indecent Theft? Petty Exposure? Did somebody tell him he is on the Reds, not the Bengals? Not every team in Cincinnati comes with stripes.

  11. Lobster Cola says:

    HAHAHA! So many zingers here, including a Mickey Rooney “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” reference. Witty & Hilarious, as usual, Grey. Just terrific. Thanks, Grey!

  12. hideousmutants says:

    question for everyone:
    did a trade yesterday that I’d asked about in the Capps thread (I have 7 closers plus Boggs and am thin at starter)

    I got Greinke

    I traded Broxton, Capps, Contreras

    Did I give up too much? Get too little?

  13. Mr. Rickey says:

    Heard on Cincinnati radio this morning:

    Question: Will Leake take the mound on Thursday as scheduled?

    Answer: Probably – he was caught on video removing the security tags.

  14. malacoda says:

    Good stuff today.

  15. MattW says:

    That Wire reference was pure genius.
    -Clay Davis approves this message.

  16. YourMomsBoyfriend says:

    wow…that COULD be 60 saves at the All Star Break for Grienke. I think you gave up a LOT.

  17. Jim says:

    I guess coaching his son Kelly’s junior league team at the Astrodome in 1977 taught Mike nothing after all.

  18. Salty Balty says:

    Who do I sit tonight?

    A. Jones v. Pavano

    D. Espinosa v. Westbrook

    Would’ve sat Jones tonight no question until his late homerun yesterday. Dude is so f—ing streaky.

  19. AL KOHOLIC says:

    @alex: yeah,serriously heisly is good,seems to make a great defensive play every game too,the reds announcers love him,an injury to 1 of the 3 starters makes him a good pick up in 12 team leagues

  20. mwgris says:

    Is trading away Torii, Broxton and dlR for Jeter and Gardner a good buy low swap? If not, is it at least an even trade? Thanks.

  21. Child Please says:

    12-team 5×5 roto keeper league
    Who would you rather have, Bourjos or Sands? I only need help with AVG if anything.

  22. IgnatiusJReilly says:

    Grey-10 team 8×8 h2h keeper league,would you drop Travis Snider and p/u Fowler?

    I already have six players w/ 25+ HR power,but I dont have much speed.

  23. Clyde Prompto says:

    Between the thermos of spunk in the Lowrie blurb, and the caribou semen in Morneau’s, this was the most ejaculate friendly roundup of the season.

  24. PepeSilvia says:

    start Kuroda tonight vs. ATL or not? normally it’s a no-brainer but considering he got battered last time out and there was talk immediately afterward that maybe he’d been pushed too far in his start previous to that one (117 pitches), I’m worried.

  25. IgnatiusJReilly says:

    btw….I could just drop Swisher and p/u Fowler.I still would have Braun,Crawford,Lind,BJ Upton and Snider.

  26. Steve says:

    I completely agree about the Yahoo Universe. Players like Trout and Sands aren’t available, but Bryce Harper not only exists, but has both C and OF, despite never playing a game. Stupid? RHETORICAL!

  27. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Just another guy: give me desmond. he was pretty much my go to SS this year (1 league someone took him earlier than expected and i got stuck with furcal, ugh). i think he COULD definitely give you 20-20 numbers, and the avg should come up, though his ceiling is probably about .275 with the Ks.

  28. Oscar Gamble says:

    Loved the reference to The Wire in Adam Jones’ description…

  29. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @hideousmutants: @YourMomsBoyfriend:

    i think it depends on the league set up. if you can only start 2-3 RPs every day, then no biggie, you just dealt a bunch of depth. if you can start a bunch of RPs each day and rotate your SPs in the only couple of P spots, then you dealt away more value. that said, how much do you really need to win saves by? having 125 saves at the break is nice and all until you realize that 2nd place only has 60 saves.

  30. Buge Hoobs says:

    sands or raburn?

  31. hideousmutants says:

    I was calculating a good year from a closer at 1.5 saves/week (6/mo) and a great year at 2 saves per week so the range I considered for those three was 36-48 (though it could certainly go up to 60). I considered Capps not-firmly-entrenched status, Contreras’s age and Broxton’s general suckiness so far. BUT, the things that nags me is I bet I could’ve gotten Greinke for only two guys instead of three. I do have 26 saves so far and lead the category by 10. And the guy I traded to had 0 saves so far.

    But, I still think I could’ve done better.

  32. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @PepeSilvia: that means he only threw 83 last outing, so unless there is some larger injury concern, i wouldn’t view it as anything more than just a rough outing that pretty much every pitcher is gonna have from time to time.

  33. ritzer says:

    Just wondering how much you value the #1 waiver spot because at the moment I’m finding it a curse. I didnt pick up Gardner because i’m saving it. Johnny Gomes has been dropped and i’d love to grab him but dunno if it’s worth #1. I’d be dropping David Murphy or Anibal Sanchez.

  34. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @hideousmutants: i wouldn’t worry too much. you should be fine with the 3 remaining closers plus boggs potential to be the closer. not to mention you can restock your roster with 2 more guys who might see saves at some point.

  35. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @ritzer: jesus, gardner went in the top 10 rounds (if not higher) in most drafts i saw. how good of a player do you expect to see dropped?

  36. Tony says:

    @ritzer: burn it, or you’ll just keep doing what you’re doing now, waiting on the “big drop” and in the end you’re going to miss out…. you shoulda burnt it on gardner if you needed SB’s at all….

  37. Brett says:

    I’ve got Sizemore on the DL in a 13-team 6×6 (OBP and Winning %) league with only one bench spot and am looking to activate him. Do you drop Narveson, Alfonso Soriano, Fuld, Kubel, or Carlos Pena? Thanks man, I really appreciate your advice.

  38. ritzer says:

    I know, I know I dont feel good letting Gardner go. i went on the yahoo boards and a few people said things like this.

    ‘It can feel like a double edged sword. Keep it though – when the right time to use it comes along you will absolutely know it!!. It will be an “oh my god!!” moment.’
    ……keeping with todays semen theme.

    ‘You will regret using your #1 Wav later on for someone you really need on your team. You only have one chance to do it so do it right.’

    So do you think I should burn it and pick up Gomes now. Would you drop murphy for him?

  39. Chili Davis Con Carne says:

    Ted Lilly was recently dropped in one of my leagues…who would you drop of these options to pick him up?
    -Zimmermann, Volquez, Cueto, D.Hudson

  40. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @ritzer: tbh not sure if murphy for gomes is the one to burn it. gomes could be this year’;s jose bautista i guess, but he’s 30 and in his 7th season of significant MLB time and has a sub-.250 career avg (and .240 this year). his HR rate is high and will normalize, at which point he loses most/all value. unless you just have an immediate and dire need for HRs, just sit on it for now. i think it’s a fair chance gomes would clear waivers and you could pick him up without using your priority.

    of course, substitute bautista for gomes and this post could have been dated april 18, 2010.

    you should have blown it on gardner, if anything, because once he comes around, he’ll be a big trade piece. with waiver wire, i don’t know that there is a “oh my gawd!” moment, and if there is, there is no way to predict it, and waiting most/all year for your miracle means you just missed out on a bunch of flavor of the weeks all season, some of whom panned out longterm and some who didn’t.

  41. Worth dropping Volquez for a spot start of Masterson vs. KC tomorrow?

    Thinking it may help with my ERA and WHIP and doubt anyone picks up Volquez if I want him back next week…

  42. @ThePoonTycoon: Poon, who do you see having the overall better year Volquez or Cueto…currently have them both…probably won’t for much longer…

  43. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Shea Sera Sera: throw a dart? i wasn’t big on either coming into the year. both have talent, but can’t seem to completely put it together. definitely drop one for lilly, and i’d probably consider dropping the other for a streaming spot or if a guy like masterson is still on the wire.

  44. pubscout says:

    grey-someone dumped delmon young. do i grab delmon or sands?

  45. papasmurf says:

    Who is this Fuld character? First, he’s keeping Jennings in the minors (although… the Rays would probably have waited anyway). Second, someone grabbed him before I did… and my LF situation sucks (in large part cuz I drafted Jennings).

  46. ThePoonTycoon says:

    i guess if i picked right now, i’d go with volquez since he’s at least healthy for now

  47. Thunder Dan says:

    @Chili Davis Con Carne: Absolutely drop Volquez or Cueto for Ted Lilly. Ted Lilly is a stud, man! I always seem to own him and the dude never gets his due.

    I’m thinking about kicking The Riot to the curb for Lowrie. Started the season with Aviles at SS… I’ll probably be playing SS roulette all year in that league.

    @grey: Love, love, love the title. And Cariflu.

  48. tourinct says:

    I really dislike waking up on the left coast, too many comments to start the morning off. Love the headline, will be running that tune through my head all day as I start the drive from SF down to LA.

  49. bonk says:

    Two semen jokes in one post to start the morning? EVERYONE WINS.

  50. Lob Ball says:

    Who might be the best stream-able option over the next couple of days?

    Lohse vs WAS
    Narveson vs PHIL
    Dickey vs HOU

  51. Mr. Rickey says:

    Ted Lilly or Travis Wood?

  52. Josh says:

    Marlon Byrd or Dexter Fowler? Byrd was supposed to get me RBI from the 3 spot, but Fowler has the runs atop the rockie lineup. Lots of Ks from Fowler so far though…

  53. ParrotheadFargo says:

    Thanks for the good Shizz, I love the “Grey Advantage” that you dole out and I use to crush my fantasy comrads. But I have to RAIN da HATE on Yahoo!

    You (Grey) do the work, I do the work (ala reading your info EVERYDAY) and Yahoo! F’s me in the A! BY NOT letting me pick up players who are added late in their system. Leaving the waiver priorty to let even the most amature schmohawk point to the advantage of all your work, when their(Yahoo!’s) craphole writing staff to talk about it on the DAY BEFORE the waiver request is set to go thru on the front page of their FB site.

    By the sum of the parts, I am sick of being better than eveyone (3 year current champ) only for the rookies and up-in-commers to be snaked out of my clutch because of a “equality’ based waiver system. (Just let me be better and stop creating balance YAHOO!)

    Ok done ‘itchin for now, but if Yahoo! does not fix their shizz I am switchin for good.

    and SOLID as always Grey, Keep up the good work.
    One Love from Fargo!

  54. Stophe says:

    Morning Razzers –

    Pick a side, any side:

    A: Youk
    B: McGehee and either GioGonz or R. Soriano (in a league with holds, on a team with a 41-year old closer).

    And man – Mickey Rooney – what a punk – how is Breakfast at Tiff such a beloved flick with Rooney giving one of the most offensive performances in Hollywood history? I mean, If he were casually strolling out African-American stereotypes that whole flick, it would be banned from TV. Where’s the Asian Bill Cosby I ask? WHERE?

  55. nick m. says:

    If VMart hits the DL, who is the best replacement Catcher: Iannetta, Hundley, Buck, Avila?

  56. Pooch says:

    Is everyone starting Sanchez vs. Colorado tonight?

  57. Charles says:

    @everyone: Poo poo RP matchup: Gregg v. Storen. No holds category in my league. Should I go for Gregg?

  58. Stophe says:

    hey Ritzer – there was a post on this very topic on this very website in this very past month!

  59. Tony says:

    @Stophe: ha thats true and when i replied to him i didn’t want to look for the link….

  60. lauren says:

    @ Grey or anyone: I’m desperate for saves – my only RP are Axford & Putz. Someone in my league dropped Aardsma. I want to pick him up but my DL spots are filled by Zimmerman & Morales.

    I have 6 OF: Choo, McCutchen, Ethier, LoMo, Gomes, & Span (we only have 3 OF spots + 1 util). Should I drop Gomes or Span for Aardsma? And if so, Span, right? Or should I try to trade one of my OF for a better closer?

  61. Dirt says:

    Would you Tabata for Billingsley if in need of pitching??? Who wins?

  62. Eddy says:

    To add insult to injury, Behrens is apparently dedicating an article to Sands tomorrow….one day before his waiver expires.

    And someone said it was ahrd to keep up with the comments on the West Coast. Imagine the East Coast! I’m slowly beginning to just avoid everyone’s comments (primarily because they’re all roster questions). I used to like reading every single comment, but now it’s getting to be too much!

  63. charlie batch says:

    In a 16-team, if Beachy doesnt pan out tonight, cut ties in favor of Ty Ross (and other streaming WW options)?

  64. Chinaski says:

    Hey grey,
    what do you think, would you drop gaby sanchez or snider for sands?

  65. Matgra says:

    Teixeira, Sizemore, Kemp, McCutchen, Tabata, Holliday, Fielder.

    I can only start 5 of them, who do i bench?

  66. One of your best Grey.
    Love the What About Bob reference–so funny!
    How read-deal is Correia? Would you drop Wood, Cueto or Zambrano for him?

  67. I’m on record as saying Tony will go with Miguel Batista as his closer (first crack anyways). Is this silly talk, or could you see it happening?

  68. Tony says:

    @Dirt: i wouldnt deal tabata for bills at all…. it was one good game, tabata might go carl crawford lite this year…

  69. Richard Pryor says:

    Of Liriano’s 10 baserunners, 5 were BB. That’s a 2:5 K/BB. If you can sell him for $0.80 on the dollar to an owner who thinks he’s buying low, I would do it. I wasn’t high on Liriano during the preseason, and I think this pattern will continue.

  70. @Stophe:
    Although I love me some Gio, Youk would be the side I wanted–dude is way undervalued presently.

  71. Gig says:

    Beware Johnny Gomes, he does this every year: Destroy one month or so and suck the rest.

  72. joe pesci says:

    Thoughts on the good old Hodgepadre Tim Stauffer?

    He is home vs PHI later this week. Are you starting or sitting him.

    Also, looking at the longterm, is Stauffer a “hold” or “drop/stream” guy in a 12 team H2H points league.

  73. Francis says:

    @ritzer: If you have an “oh my god!” moment over the waiver wire in fantasy baseball, it’s time for a new hobby…

  74. 3FingersBrown says:

    @Grey: Cariflu – hehehe… I’ve got $62 left from my FAAB of $100. How much would bid on Sands? I could use a little pop.

    Liriano was killing it until the 7th. Glad he still managed to eek out the W. As you said “baby steps…”

    @Richard Pryor: My head (and my eyes, which are in my head) tell me you’re right but my heart wants to believe the mustached one. April is too early to give up .80 on the dollar IMO.

  75. @ Richard Pryor:
    If you’re selling Liriano I’m buying…@.75. Too early to write him off, weather is cold, Liriano had a short spring training, new home park is a pitcher’s haven, past stats shows he heats up with the weather…I’ve actually traded for both Liriano and Bills (pre-11 k game) on a few teams.

  76. Francis says:

    @Lob Ball: Dickey

  77. Jake says:

    In a deep 15 team yahoo league where no worthwhile major leaguers are dropped (only the likes of Bradley, McLouth, Theriot…etc) and many top prospects who might be called up are being stashed, how much of your $1000 FAAB budget would you spend on Sands?

    If most of the other big name prospects needed to be posted to Yahoo’s site and go through the normal waiver process, I might be more conservative. Since that isn’t the case, and most teams have their full $1000 allotment remaining, I’m considering somewhere in the $400-600 range…

  78. Eng says:

    Bail on Travis ED?

  79. MD says:

    haha. awesome title grey! Sands is coming up just in time for Brandon Belt to get sent down. Now hopefully mattingly will play Sands at First tonight, so i can send Belt down and pick up Sands.

    BTW… Thinking about flying to Minneapolis and punching Francisco Liriano in the mouth, any takers? i’ll take the 2 ER’s, but 5 BB’s? Are you kidding me, can we just get a solid outing out of this “supposive #1″… poop

  80. The |3lue Crew says:

    LOL about Leake! I had to look it up and see if it was true. Guy got a two million dollar signing bonus and he shoplifted shirts that were on sale hahaha.
    Anyways… Someone just dropped Victorino in my league is he worth the pick up. I recently dropped Abreau and Huff for Gordon and Morrison. 10 team H2H 7×7.
    1b- Gonzo
    2b- Hill
    3b- Gordon
    SS- Drew
    OF- Kemp, Heyward, Rasmus
    UTL. Morrison and Dunn
    BN- Lind and Wright (Doodes a K machine!)

    SP- Lester, Weavs, Haren, Bills, Sanchez, Masterson, and a streamer
    RP- The X men (Broxton and Axford)
    DL- Cueto

  81. Vince says:

    12 teams, H2H, 5×5

    C: Montero
    1B: Cabrera
    2B: Espinosa
    SS: Andrus
    3B: Youkilis
    OF: J-Up
    OF: Pence
    OF: Rasmus
    Util: Lind

    SP: Lester, Liriano, Anderson, Scherzer, Lilly, De La Rosa, Kennedy, Narveson
    RP: Street, Walden, Farnsworth, Francisco
    DL: Aardsma

    I’ve been offered Brian Roberts for my De La Rosa. Is it worth it? I don’t really like Roberts, but do you like the trade?

  82. ThePoonTycoon says:

    travis snider his below .200 last april.

    travis snider hit like .370 with .700+ slugging last may.

    drop at your own risk.

  83. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @The |3lue Crew: drop morrison or go without a streamer for a few weeks until your lineup shakes out, but you definitely need to add victorino. i’d go without a streamer for a few weeks and see what happens with your lineup and whether you can swing a 2-for-1 trade or something.

  84. Whiskey Diet says:

    Morning Grey,

    Use waiver for Sands, lose Masterson or Esmil?

    Also, how many innings do you see Pineda getting this year? Will he get shutdown eventually?

  85. 3FingersBrown says:

    Oh and happy passover to all the hammerin’ Hebrews. Man I wish I had Ryan Braun on any of my teams…

  86. Stophe says:

    Im not crazy about Victorino but I would lose either Gordon or Lind, and stick with Wright every day at 3B.

  87. Stophe says:

    @The |3lue Crew:

    Sorry – wrong reply! This was meant for the Blue Crew:

    Im not crazy about Victorino but I would lose either Gordon or Lind, and stick with Wright every day at 3B.

  88. genghis chone says:

    Ditch E-Jax for Hafner? 10-team H2H league, 7 starts per week and I have Tommy Hanson, Daniel Hudson, Cain, Zimmermann, T-Wood, Hellickson, Dempster and Cueto so I can afford to ditch one and the player pool isn’t too deep.

  89. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Whiskey Diet: lose esmil. masterson is breaking out. i’m wanting him on every team. grey admitted he was just a year early last year. masterson has experience, youth, talent, and has pitched plenty of MLB innings so it’s doubtful he gets shut down in august for precautionary reasons.

    as for pineda, i wouldn’t imagine somewhere around 150 innings. mariners aren’t going anywhere. i wouldn;t drop pineda anyhere year though. you have a majority of the season left to enjoy good starts (hopefully).

  90. Iceman says:

    Drop Gomes for Sam Fuld? 12 team H2H with all sorts of stupid categories.

    6 of one / half dozen of the other?

  91. shibboleth says:

    Hey Grey, thanks as always. NJ says hello. I drafted Raburn as a 2b/MI backup player. Currently have Prado/Hanley/Alexei there now and he’s not exactly hurting me on the bench… but how much more leash are we looking at here?

  92. Shortstart? says:

    Some tough calls today.

    Have Alexei Ramirez & Starlin Castro – Who starts at SS tonight?

    I could start both if I sit McCutchen tonight vs. Josh Johnson and
    move my utility guy – Jay Bruce to the OF.

    Also who do you favor as a corner infielder tonight?
    Betemit, Loney, Chris Johnson

  93. mj says:

    I have Hundley & Suzuki, which one is the better bet for the season? I may look to trade one and I am leaning towards keeping Hundley.

  94. GTS says:

    Better start for the next few days: Fuld or Gordon?

  95. JWL says:

    Wold you drop Lind or D. Murphy for Sands?

  96. Tony says:

    Sands worthy over McClousy, freeman, trumbo, ?

    I also have volquez who im dying to drop just can’t find the right guy… missed out on capps, had my 4th position waiver priority trumped by the guy with with the 3rd priority the other night…. annoying!

  97. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Mike from Jersey: Yeah, I got love for him.

    @Just another guy: Desmond

    @Enrique: Go with Lindstrom.

    @kenny powers: Thanks! Yeah, he’s genius.

    @lothda: Ha

    @alex: Wouldn’t surprise me.

    @Paulie Allnuts: No problem… I’d start them all at the right matchups.

    @Paulie Allnuts: Eh on LeClure.

    @Steve: Ha!

    @Michael Bourne: Ha

    @Lobster Cola: Thanks!

    @hideousmutants: Looks fine for you.

    @Mr. Rickey: Wow

    @malacoda: Thanks

    @MattW: Ha

    @Jim: Ha

    @Salty Balty: Espinosa

    @mwgris: Sounds fair.

    @Child Please: Different things.

    @IgnatiusJReilly: Go for it.

    @Clyde Prompto: You’re welcome.

    @PepeSilvia: I would.

    @Steve: Yup

    @Oscar Gamble: Thanks!

    @Buge Hoobs: Sands

    @ritzer: Agree with Poon.

    @Brett: Kubel

    @Shea Sera Sera: Agree with Poon.

    @Chili Davis Con Carne: Agree with Poon.

    @pubscout: Young

    @papasmurf: He’s baffling.

    @tourinct: Cool

    @bonk: Ha

    @ParrotheadFargo: Thanks and totally agree.

    @Lob Ball: Bleh…Dickey

    @Mr. Rickey: Lilly

    @Stophe: Ha… Youk.

    @nick m.: Iannetta

    @Charles: Storen

    @lauren: Trade for a better closer if possible, if not, Span.

    @Dirt: It’s fair.

    @charlie batch: Depends how bad Beachy is.

    @Enrico Palazzo: Wood

    @Chinaski: Gaby

    @Matgra: Sizemore

    @Dr. Stats: Thanks! I’d drop Z for him.

    @Dr. Stats: Probably not as silly as it should be.

    @joe pesci: I’m starting him in Petco.

    @3FingersBrown: $11

    @Jake: $151

    @Eng: Eh

    @MD: Ha!

    @The |3lue Crew: Lose your streamer.

    @Vince: Eh

    @Whiskey Diet: Yup, Rogers

    @3FingersBrown: You too.

    @genghis chone: Eh

    @Iceman: Eh

    @shibboleth: Hello, Jersey. I’d lose Raburn.

    @Shortstart?: You shouldn’t have both of those SSs. Trade one for a corner man. Castro…Johnson….

    @mj: Tomato-tomahto. Trade Suzuki if you can.

    @GTS: Gordon

    @JWL: Eh

  98. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Tony: Over McLousy.

  99. mauledbypandas says:

    Ben Francisco. With his slump and pending Brown return. Would you start seeking other options? We had some good times, but the clock is about to strike midnight. Basically, should I take a flier on Sands or an upside guy or stick with Francisco.

  100. Ozzie says:

    12 Team H2H, 16 keepers, do you like Sands or Chapman? Team is weaker in pitching than hitting but unsure of what to do with Chapman.

  101. Vince says:

    @Grey: I could make a counter-offer asking for his Bruce + Roberts in exchange for my Lind + DLR… What do you think of that one?

  102. Gavin says:

    Who would you rather have Danks or De La Rosa?

  103. BookieBob says:

    Chris: We good?

    Snoop: Yeah, man. Man say if you wanna shoot nails, this here the Cadillac, man. Meant Lexus but he ain’t know it.

    Chris: Hold a charge better?

    Snoop: Man, fuck a charge, this here’s a gun powder activated, 27 caliber, full auto, no kickback, nail-throwing mayhem man. Shit right here’s tight.

    [Chris laughs]

    Snoop: Word. Fuck this nailin’ up boards, we could kill a couple mother fuckers with this right here.

    So good, just brilliant work.

  104. Nomar Mr. Nice Guy says:

    I’m in a league that counts K’s as an offensive category, D. Wright is killing me in that category. Which side of this trade do you like:
    (10 team H2H, keeper league, counts K’s and OPS)

    David Wright & McCutchen for Kemp & Zimmerman

  105. Lob Ball says:

    Yahoo has Jerry Sands available on waivers. My weakest players right now are Pena and Reynolds. I’m fine position wise. Drop either for Sands?

  106. Pineada or Volquez for better overall season?

  107. papasmurf says:

    @Gig: Indeed. I was gonna write the same thing until I saw your post.

    I likened Gomes the other day to a righthanded Luke Scott. Over short spurts he could hit for tons of power, but when you look at the body of work at the end of the year, they are ok but not great. Not consistent enough to be a guy you plug in and fuhget about it in my opinion.

    Back to Fuld, I hope he doesn’t turn out to be Podsednik. I think he could be serviceable enough to give the Rays an excuse to keep Jennings down until possibly the trading deadline when they trade one OF away.

  108. Pooch says:

    Is filthy Sanchez a start everytime kinda pitcher? More importantly, start him tonight @ Col?

    If yes is the answer to the first question, one yes will suffice for both.

  109. Jake in Columbus says:

    Dude, have been offered Mini-Donkey for Kimbrel in standard 12-tm H2H. Have Mo, Walden and Farnsworth too, plus Zimm on DL with Freese covering. Not too worried about filling in for Zimm, but might as well look while the lookin’s good. Seems like a good value, but already have guys (mostly Stanton and Lind as DH) giving me some AVG fits where Reynolds is no help. Take it anyway or counter with Farnsy? He also has Youk, so might be able to go there. Would probably need to give a better RP or package with Lind. Make more sense to do that? Could always offer both and be happy either way. Thanks.

  110. Derrick says:

    Drop Posada for Wieters?

  111. CL says:

    Grey: Thoughts on continuing to hold Eric Young Jr…? 10 team dynasty… I have room for him, I guess, but any idea what the deal is with his status with the Rox?

  112. bogbert says:

    Drop Wood, Kennedy, or Dempster for Bills?
    Drop Pena, Jones, Markakis, or Alvarez to un-DL Sizemore?

  113. @Derrick: I would…I own Posada, but Weiters has better all over upside…would want him.

  114. Flunkie says:

    Drop Kila Ka’aihue or Travis Wood to pick up Sands?

  115. Nick says:

    @Grey: With Figgins really killing me at second and him being my only option, should I dump him or my extra outfielder, Adam Jones for Lowrie or Kelly Johnson?

  116. bogbert says:

    Thanks Grey, margarita for you today.
    Another question, if you don’t mind: DL roster Matusz or Bay?

    My OF: Jones, Sizemore, Markakis, Tabata, Young, McCutchen, Rasmus
    My SP: Liriano, Gallardo, Marcum, Dempster, Bills, Wood, Gio.

    I’m getting hammered on WHIP and ERA

  117. AL KOHOLIC says:

    @bogbert: bay is coming off the dl,be in the lineup thursday

  118. Black Beard says:

    Haren and Bruce for Liriano and Choo?

  119. william says:

    someone in my league gave up on Torii Hunter – I’m thinking of dropping Logan Morrison for him… but I think Logan can have a better slash line this year than Hunter.

    Hunter, however, is steady production with 20+ HRs and 90 RBIs and double digit steals. Not sure what to do here. What do you guys think?

  120. Wilsonian says:

    Quick question for anyone out there…

    This is my OF/UTIL/Bench:

    OF: CarGo
    OF: Kemp
    OF: Krispie
    UTIL: Tabata
    UTIL: Gordon
    BN: Bruce
    BN: Berkman
    DL: Longo

    Once Longo comes off the DL, one of them has to go. Most likely it will be Berkman because I don’t think he’ll keep it up, and I already tried to deal him and he got no takers. I’m considering dealing Bruce and Contreras for someone like Kimbrel or Walden. And then picking up an SP like Kuroda or another hot hand. This is an 8 Team league, and once Longo comes off, Bruce will only get the spot start (also have Wright, too). Am I crazy, or mad scientist genius?

  121. bogbert says:

    @AL KOHOLIC: Thanks, just saw that. I’d have to drop one of my current OFs, though, and I think I might need pitching more.

  122. Nuke LaDouche says:

    Peavy left yesterdays rehab start with “discomfort”.

  123. Dave says:

    would you trade tori hunter for mike stanton?

  124. Salty Balty says:

    I was thinking Jones over Espinosa. Why you gotta go and f–k with the program?

  125. Nuke LaDouche says:

    Drop Bumgarner, Kennedy, or Zambrano for Correia?

  126. ken plane says:

    Latos was just dropped, who would you drop from these reserves, T. Hunter, Markasis, Buchholz, Narveson, Masterson or Thornton(4th closer) or hold

  127. @Dave:
    I would give up 1 and a half Hunters for one Stanton. No-brainer bro.

  128. @ken plane:
    grab Latos drop Thornton or Naveson.

  129. Stinky Cheese Man says:

    Frank Francisco or Sean Burnett?

  130. @Nuke:
    Bye-bye Big Z hello Correia IMO

  131. bravo says:

    Here’s my standard 5×5 roto team (11 teams):

    C: Jorge Posada (C)
    1B: Joey Votto (1B)
    2B: Neil Walker (2B,3B)
    3B: Chipper Jones (3B)
    SS: Jose Reyes (SS)
    OF: Shane Victorino (OF), Jeff Francoeur (OF), Adam Lind (1B,OF)
    Util: Jayson Werth (OF)
    BN: Mark Reynolds (3B), Chris Young (OF)
    DL: Josh Hamilton (OF)

    SP: Justin Verlander (SP), Ted Lilly (SP)
    RP: John Axford (RP), Joel Hanrahan (RP)
    P: Koji Uehara (RP), Sean Burnett (RP), Yovani Gallardo (SP)
    BN: Ian Kennedy (SP), Chad Billingsley (SP), Johnny Cueto (SP)
    DL: Frank Francisco (RP)

    Gardner and Volquez are on waivers. I’ve got enough speed so picking up Gardner would be more for trading him (or Victorino) for some power if he gets hot. Does it make sense for me to try to pick them up? If so, who should I drop? I know Francoeur is one option.

  132. Nuke LaDouche says:

    @Dr. Stats: Thanks. I’m leaning dumping Bumgarner. He has been atrocious and I’m worried his arm isn’t up to snuff after last years run. I know Big Z can be a mess, but I (probably foolishly) have some faith in him this year.

  133. Wake Up says:

    Who would you lose to pull Ubaldo back off of the DL?

    Beachy, Shields, AJ, Narveson, Kennedy, League

  134. Jake in Columbus says:

    @Grey: The rest of my gibberish was about whether it makes more sense to go after Youk instead of Mini-Donkey given my current team. If the original offer is just fair (rather than in my favor), I think it does. Thank you.

  135. Dimond G says:

    10-team total season pts scoring league…been offered this trade:
    I GIVE Joe Mauer, Carlos Pena, K-Rod
    I GET Shin-Soo Choo & Clay Bucholtz

    K-Rod is nice closer, but I do have a handful of avgerage closers on roster (Broxton, Burnett, Capps, Franklin, Aardsma on DL spot)…I have Miguel Montero filling in while Mauer is on DL…speaking of Mauer, well dont know what his deal is, will he suck all season…how will his current illness affect him long term this season…. so is this a good trade for me or am I getting to little for what I am giving up? My current OF’s are Adam Jones, Torri Hunter, Mike Stanton, Andre Ethier

  136. Dad says:

    @Grey @Anyone: 16-team, H2H 8×6 with (K’s, TB, OBP) / (L’s & WHIP)

    I’m looking to move one of my 3B’s (Alex Gordon or Beltre) for a SP.

    The guy needing a 3B (he’s running out a rather brutal Aviles/Tejada blahtoon) has Sabbathia, Marcum, Floyd, Danks, Kershaw etc.

    What’s a favorable/fair request for each 3B? I’d prefer to sell high on Gordon, but I’ll obviously pull more with Beltre.

    I’ve been burned by trading for SP’s a few times, so i’m hoping for a gut-check. Thanks.

  137. Dave says:

    @Dr. Stats: thanks, I thought so. Stanton might not get hot for a while but I can find an outfielder to cover for the time being

  138. Wake Up says:

    @Nuke LaDouche: I second. Lose Bumgarner over Big Z. But, Correia won’t keep this up either.

  139. Ben says:

    Lawrie, A. Hill, & N. Walker. Keep 2. Who do you drop?

  140. stynyr says:

    Aaron Hill was just dropped. I have Kelly Johnson. I am 10/10 in the waiver line. Soooo, basically that was irrelevant but I’m too lazy to delete it. Drop Johnson for Hill? Do I make the swap?

    As always…muchas gracias.

  141. Vince says:

    @Grey: Thanks Grey!

  142. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @ken plane: uh, go now and drop shitty thornton or soon to be exposed narveson. even if latos is a injury risk, he’s looked fine since he returned, and all you’d be in for is a waiver wire pickup.

  143. Wilson's Beard says:

    Beachy (@LAD), Niese (vs HOU), or Lackey (@OAK) for a spot start today? And long term: Narveson, Masterson, or Beachy?

  144. Chupacabra says:

    Trying to improve my pitching.

    My starters Oswalt, Chacin, Harang, Kennedy, Hudson, Lohse, Liriano.

    On the wire: Britton, Narveson, Vazquez, Stauffer, Carmona, Norris.

    Hold fast, or drop and add any of these?

  145. @Dad: Some possibilities:
    Gordon and low end SP for Danks
    Beltre for Kershaw
    Beltre for Marcum and Danks

  146. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Flunkie: Kila

    @Nick: Jones for Johnson.

    @bogbert: Thanks! Bay

    @Black Beard: Haren side

    @william: I’d prefer Hunter.

    @Wilsonian: Makes sense.

    @Nuke LaDouche: Damn

    @Dave: Sure

    @Nuke LaDouche: Z

    @ken plane: Agree with Stats

    @Stinky Cheese Man: Burnett

    @bravo: Lose Frenchy for Gardner.

    @Wake Up: Narveson

    @Jake in Columbus: No problem.

    @Dimond G: Sounds fine for you.

    @Dad: Marcum for Gordon?

    @Ben: Brett Lawrie

    @stynyr: Can switch them if you like…

    @Wilson’s Beard: Beachy

    @Chupacabra: Britton over Lohse

  147. Dad says:

    @Dr. Stats: Thanks Dr.

    Upon some reflection, I might start high with Gordon for Marcum straight-up. Then, try Gordon for Danks before *maybe* offering Beltre for Kershaw/CC. Beltre for Marcum & Danks is interesting. He’s got gobs of SP’s beyond what i listed above.

  148. C.O.C. says:

    Hey guys, asked this yesterday, but it has since changed a little. 16 team H2H points league, guy is offering Zobrist for Kyle McClellan. My OF is my weak spot. But I have Prado, and soon (hopefully, anyway) Utley for 2B. Pitching is SCARCE in this league. Make the move anyway and put Zobrist in the OF? I just don’t want to make a trade to make a trade, but Zobrist is like 95% owned,and McClellan is like 18%.

  149. bogbert says:

    Thanks Grey. Last question from me for today: Sands worth it over any of these OFs? Jones, Sizemore, Markakis? (I’ll keep McCutcheon, Tabata, Rasmus, Krispie.)

  150. Dad says:

    @Grey: Thankya. Also, loved the Title today. I guess i know who you’d pick first in the Beatles/Stones draft. You’re clearly a man of wealth and taste.

  151. BSA says:

    WEEI talking to Francona.
    Radio:”how do you keep Lowrie out?”
    Francona:”You don’t.”
    Next two days in Oakland….day one regular lineup (ortiz dh, Lowrie ss), day two ortiz sits (youk dh, scutaro ss, Lowrie 3b)

  152. Wizo says:

    Lind+ McGehee+Boesch or Sandoval+Stanton

  153. Nuke LaDouche says:

    So you’re thinking Bumgarner will turn it around Grey? Kennedy too? Its hard to want to drop a guy that has wildly outpitched the other options.

  154. papasmurf says:

    how bout that Helton huh?

    and Berkman…

    calendar check…

  155. WDE05 says:

    Hey guys…I’m running into a brick wall while trying to set my lineup for tonight. Couple of questions:

    1. Who would you start at OF between Swisher (Drabek) and Pagan (Wandy). Both guys have sucked thus far against righties so I doubt either will do much.

    2. Who would you start at utility between Asdrubal (Chen) and Ike Davis (Wandy)? Asdrubal has been hotter than Ike, but Wandy has been pretty bad of late.

    3. Would you start both Brett Anderson (BoSox) and Beachy (Dodgers)?

    Thanks guys.

  156. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: thanks man, I really didn’t think you’d agree with me – kinda makes me feel warm and squishy inside – in a completely masculine way.

    So in that scenario, you think Walden or Kimbrel would be good targets? We count Ks/9, so that’s why I’m shooting for them, and I know Marmol is not on the block.

  157. Carl says:

    Which side wins? (h2h OBP league)

    Bruce/Castro/Putz for Stanton/Beckham/A. Jones/Broxton

    Many thanks.

  158. Hola Grey — MR pitching question.

    Im speculating on some MR adds with “strong holds/ saves” upside for 2011 and I have boiled it down to these 6, and am curious of your overall rankings of these– my league is very deep, 14 team, non-keeper h2h, 6×6 with holds as the xtra pitching category — so Im partial to high K/9, solid era and whip guys. Please let me know your thoughts/ rankings of this bunch:

    Chris Sale – chiw
    Tim Collins – kc
    Kenley Jansen – lad
    Antonio Bastardo – phi
    Eduardo Sanchez – stl
    Brian Sanches – fla

    El Burro

  159. Lil' Saucy says:

    Hi Grey,

    Which side of this trade do you like?

    Pablo Sandoval and Colby Rasmus for Francisco Liriano and Ryan Howard

  160. bravo says:

    Thanks for all of your help, Grey!

    Last question: Would you drop Kennedy for Morton?

  161. Chinaski says:

    Grey, i asked about Sands and you suggested to drop Gaby Sanchez for him. I watched Sands swing and to be honest i didnt like it. I think this kid could need tons of ABs to adjust to major league pitching. I expect alot of bad Ks. I would rather go with Boesch for now.

  162. EL Gato says:

    Stanton for Stephen Drew? Need some pop in my line-up….Yunuel Escobar is on the WW….

  163. Grey

    Grey says:

    @EL Gato: I’d want Stanton.

  164. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: would you still do it for Walden, given my scenario?

  165. Yay! says:

    long term: Travis Wood or Brandon Beachy?

    drop Stauffer for Sands? is Stauffer expendable or a guy you want to keep around for spot starts? deep-ish league…

  166. @Grey:

    Thanks, Grey. Much appreciated.

  167. Wake Up says:

    Are we dropping Kila yet?

  168. Steve says:

    TLR says Franklin’s role will change – but no word on who will close.

    @Grey: I follow Bourdain on Twitter. He ate (and cooked) at El Bulli last week. 52 courses!

  169. Steve says:

    Bah – Morneau out again. Adjust your lineups, or (like me) scowl at the gaping hole at 1B.

  170. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: deal ended up being my Bruce/Contreras for his Smooth/Walden. I’ve got Wieters at C, but I figured I could give Smooth a couple days to see if he’s a better option than Wieters. If he fails, I’ll drop him.

  171. Scotty Mac says:

    I think you’ll enjoy/be maddened by this comment I just read on Yahoo’s player updates:

    “C Mike Napoli has a 1.53 catcher’s ERA in his four starts. The Rangers are 3-1 in Napoli’s starts behind the plate.”

    Again, I’m left to wonder why he has only played in 1/2 of the Rangers’ games so far this year. Maybe the AL West is full of Sciosciapaths. Maybe the MLB is full of Sciosciapaths.

    Disclaimer: This statement is not and is not intended to be a drop Napoli question. Napoli is locked in at my catcher position all year long, come hell or high water.

  172. Eddy says:

    MMD sent to AAA to graze the fields of defeat.

  173. yankees2011 says:

    Hello again Grey! Would you drop one of Volquez or J. Vasquez or even I. Kennedy for B. Beachy? He is on the trash heap in our Yahoo 12 Team League and I was considering picking him up.

    Thanks and keep it up!

  174. royce! says:

    @Steve: What’s TLR?

  175. royce! says:

    @Steve: Nevermind, I got it. D’oh!

  176. yankees2011 says:

    One more thing Grey – what do you think of Phil Coke? Would you add him for one of the aforementioned SPs?

  177. AL KOHOLIC says:

    francona tells scutaro that lowrie will be starting,has to keep him in the lineup for the time being,

  178. AL KOHOLIC says:

    @Steve: yeah seen that morneau thing,glad i didnt end up with him,be real interesting to see who closes for cards and w/sox,im doing o.k in the 2 rcl,s im in but our keeper league with hippo is looking tough for me early,i need another stud sp,your team is in good shape

  179. Tony says:

    @royce!: total request live, oh wait thats TRL

    *** Brandon Phillips is starting tonight*** FINALLY****

  180. Ian says:

    What are your thoughts on Kelly Johnson? Nothings changed right – just a rough start? He was dropped in a small NL only league of mine. He’s a better MI option long term than O-Dawg I’m thinking. Think $4 of my $100 budget is too much? He was so money last year.

  181. Steve says:

    @AL KOHOLIC: I kinda had to take Morneau in my H2H league. Hanley fell to me at #3, then I went Zimm and Kemp and took Morneau in the 4th.

  182. AL KOHOLIC says:

    @Steve: wow,i like that 1,2,3 though,i really liked justin this year,but i ranked kendry about even with him and he kept going sooner than i thought he would,whatcha think of sands?of course i like him in our keeper league

  183. Steve says:

    @AL KOHOLIC: Well, if he’s Stanton-lite as Grey says, he should be pretty good.

    The keeper’s so shallow, I kinda don’t feel the need to chase the rookies so much right now.

  184. Chinaski says:

    Morneau in 4th is quite a reach. I drafted him in 7th and traded him for Ike Davis and Adam Lind. I dont think he will ever become his old self.

  185. Steve says:

    @Chinaski: Grey had him ranked 30th overall for 2011, so I’m OK with where I took him, especially since 1B is pretty shallow.

  186. 3FingersBrown says:

    @Grey: Would I be crazy to start Beachy @ Dodgers tonight? Completely batshit starting Drabek against the Bombers?

  187. Tony says:

    just was watching MLB tv, franklin is removed from closer yet no closer was announced… i’d defly roster boggs or motte whichever is available now if you haven’t already.

  188. Tony says:

    @3FingersBrown: im starting beachy in my h2h league…. and hey you’re in my rcl, GO FOR IT! at least if i get eff’d in my h2h you’ll get eff’d in our rcl!

  189. vinko says:

    @3FingersBrown: Grey said he would start Beachy today. #158

  190. GTS says:

    Boggs/Motte over Contreras??

  191. Wake Up says:

    @royce!: Yeah that was good. I saw $.50 on there yesterday.

  192. 3FingersBrown says:

    @vinko: Ahhh thanks.

    @Tony: Haha! You’re on. I have Beachy on two teams so I’ll double down.

    Drabek held his own against the Yanks last year and the league where I have him counts QS. That’s why I’m considering him.

  193. the kid says:

    McClellan, Beachy, or Tomlin?

  194. 3FingersBrown says:

    @Tony: Actually I don’t have him in our RCL, someone else does. I think I had him and dropped him… having trouble keeping track with multiple teams and a lot of work lately.

  195. matt says:

    who would you rather have in a 12 mixed 1 catcher league with mauer on the DL: carlos ruiz, nick hundley, or hank conger

  196. chata says:

    am liking this kid ryan roberts .

  197. BSA says:

    Just checked in for the evening ramp up and Lowrie is leading off. Since I picked him up we’ll all be seeing the other side of the game of averages. Watch that first step.

  198. Joe B says:

    @Grey: Who do I cut from these pitchers? HR allowed and K/BB are additional stats…

    Edwin Jackson
    Ian Kennedy
    Travis Wood

  199. Wilsonian says:

    Think I should cut Smooth, attempt to trade him, or hang onto him in my 8 team league? I have Wieters and Smooth was just a throw in.

  200. I knew you were a man of taste, but wealth?

    A leaguemate with ADD just tossed E. Santana to waivers after one shelling (which followed 3 QS, which we count). I’m holding the “on schedule”, then “setback”, and now “back on schedule” Peavy. Gotta’ make the swap for Santana, yeah?

  201. Mr2Bits says:

    Grey : With Vmart to the DL, do I grab Martin or Ianetta?

  202. Steve says:

    What happened to Logan Morrison?

  203. Mr2Bits says:

    Avila and Hundley are also options

  204. chata says:

    repeat …. liking this ryan roberts kid

  205. Steve says:

    Ugh, Mini Donkey.

  206. @Grey: Thanks. My favorite use of those lyrics (no offense to your humorous entry title) was when Monsignor Jughead on The Sopranos asked Carmella (in a very serious manner), “Were you there when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain?” What a douche… might be time to re-watch that show.

  207. ThE sHiT says:

    @Grey: Ever see a band at the Troubadour?

  208. Eddy says:

    On MLB network they just showed how Charlie Morton changed his delivery this season, which could possibly be the reason for his newfound success.

    What’d he change it to?

    An almost exact replica of Halladay’s.

    Is this the order you’d put these guys?

    Narveson, Harang, Lohse, Morton?

  209. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: thanks man…I’m on it.

    Somebody ate his Wieties today.

  210. Tom Emanski says:

    Wieters starting to heat up

  211. Steve says:

  214. Cheese

    Cheese says:

    16 team H2H 8×8 (R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, SLG, BB, W, QS, K, SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/BB) NO BENCH
    C – Wieters, Thole
    1B – Morneau
    2B – Zobrist
    3B – Wright
    SS – Rollins
    MI – Lowrie
    CI – G Sanchez
    LF – Coghlan
    CF – Werth
    RF – Heyward
    OF – Fowler
    OF – Abreu
    Util – Smoak
    SP – Marcum, Hudson, Niese, Beachy, Narveson
    RP – Contreras, K Rod, Romo, R Perez

    Would you trade Rollins, Abreu and Narveson for F-Her, Furcal and Aybar? I have DL spot open for Furcal, and I can pick up Matt Joyce.

  215. chata says:

    butler with the sb

  216. Steve says:

    @VinWins: Noooo!

  217. AL KOHOLIC says:

    good news for santos owners,thornton pitched a meaningless inning last night giving up a run and crain pitched while losing tonight,

  218. Mr2Bits says:

    Glad to see we are not out of April yet and fucking Charlie Manuel is costing me QS’s already!

  219. Steve says:

    @Steve: Starined the arch in his left foot, that’s what.

  220. Trick dad says:

    Vinwins- any idea how serious?

  221. Tony says:

    am I crazy or is hitting just really crappy this year? Or are just a bunch of crappy hitters doing the actual hitting? My rcl went 3-40 last night, and are 2-21 tonight? What the hell? My teams batting averages, which I normally draft for a very decent average are frikking terrible…

  222. Flunkie says:

    @Tony: It’s early.

  223. Mauered says:

    Drop Beachy (or other SP) to pickup Fuentes? H2H weekly lock league starts 4SP and 2RP. In addition, is Fuentes worth using a #8 claim or let him clear waivers? My team (only including bench bats and p):

    B: Pena,Swisher

    SP: Kershaw,Gallardo,BAnderson,Kennedy
    RP: Marmol,Perez
    B: Beachy,Lackey,Narveson,De la Rosa
    IR: Cueto,Bailey

  224. VinWins

    VinWins says:

    @Trick dad: No word – he grabbed the back of his knee. Walked off.

  225. chata says:

    roberts … 2 hams and an egg

  226. Wilsonian says:

    Dammit Hill, really? Right after I just missed out on picking up Espinosa. Quit running and hit homeruns for f’s sake!

  227. Kevin says:

    What do you think about the hot start from Ryan Roberts? I’m hesitant to drop anyone for him. Would it be worth the risk to drop say Juan Uribe at this point?

  228. Brian says:

    I have #1 waiver priority in a 20 team league. Someone dropped Justin Masterson but Sands is also coming off waivers. Use for either? Sands would be replacing Ben Francisco in my utility spot and my other SPs are Hernandez, Liriano, Volquez, Cueto (DL) and whoever I can stream.

  229. Roger Lodge says:

    Who would you rather have in a standard scoring keeper league? Mike Stanton or Pedro Alvarez?

    The way I see it: Alvarez performed slightly better than Stanton when you compare their minor league numbers… similar power numbers/better BA/less Ks/more BBs. However, Stanton is 21 years old and Alvarez is 24 years old (at least!).

    I guess the key factor is whether or not you believe that Stanton will develop more patience at the plate or remain a free-swinging power hitter. Also, health should factor in although I can’t say that I know too much about either of their injury histories.

  230. bogbert says:

    Wieters or Montero?

  231. VinWins

    VinWins says:

    Update on Hill: Day-to-day with strained hamstring.

  232. bogbert says:

    @VinWins: Hill….Like I don’t have enough injuries and black holes in my lineup as it is. Crappy hitting is right, Tony!

  233. paulzone says:

    3 rp spots. count saves and holds. i have axford, kimbrel, contreras, chapman.

    Would you dump axford for boggs, francisco, league, rodney or ardsma.

    or the heck with them all and drop axfford for david murphy for an extra bat…

  234. the grate one says:

    grey, whats the upside on brett lawrie?

  235. Wilsonian says:

    @VinWins: AKA week-to-week. Same shizz that cut his spring training short.

  236. Cole says:

    Hey Grey, would you drop AJ for Wolf? I don’t know if Wolf was good tonight or the Phillie offense just sucks. He is getting K’s though.

  237. Steve says:

    Hmmm. Things not going better with Coke.

  238. AL KOHOLIC says:

    wow Rivera blows a save

  239. vinko says:

    @Steve: Rivera has track marks, too.

  240. ThE sHiT says:

    @Grey: Bought tickets to see The Airborne Toxic Event there next Tuesday. You ever hear their music?

  241. jay says:

    My team has lots of speed and could use some power should I drop Gardener for Sands in a 10 team mix, or should I stand pat.

  242. jay says:

    My team has lots of speed and could use some power should I drop Gardener for Sands in a 10 team mix, or should I stand pat.

  243. jay says:

    @the shit, I was listening to that songs something around midnight yesterday, love it. But it took me forever to admit to myself that I could like a song from a band with that bad a name. Their name sounds like a shitty high school thrash metal band.

  244. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Cole: Sure

    @ThE sHiT: Never heard of them. What kind of music?

    @jay: Eh

  245. Steve says:

    Are we sick of Raburn yet?

  246. the grate one says:

    sorry grey, i think this got lost in the shuffle

    whats the upside on brett lawrie? when do you think he gets the call (i asked stephen, but wondered your take too)

  247. elwood blues says:

    Aaron Rowand (hurts himself again) wants Belt to stay in the bigs.

    Speaking of Giants, I thought I posted this question, but it disappeared.

    I have Rasmus, Victorino, Krispie, and Torres as my top 4 OF in NL Only 4×4 12 team league.

    What do you think of a trade of Torres for Heisey.
    It’s a full-timer for a part-timer playing for Dusty.
    And I may be giving up some steals, but Torres does have that bad wheel.. and that may not be a factor…
    how would avg.. hr’s and rbi’s stack up??

  248. VinWins

    VinWins says:

    @Steve: All 4 runs on Coke unearned

  249. elwood blues says:

    Injury of the day:
    Bobby Parnell has a bad middle finger… aren’t they all.

  250. Wake Up says:

    Nova not in danger of becoming the closer!

  251. Steve says:

    @VinWins: Yeah – he’s rolling now ;-)

  252. tHe sHiT says:

    @Grey: Rock/Alternative i guess. Im not good at classifying music into genres. Youtube them real quick. I love their versatility. Hope you enjoy their music. Btw, tickets are only $25 for next tuesday.

  253. Wilsonian says:

    Kubel or Frenchy? Sands over either one?

  254. Steve says:

    @Steve: Rolling right out of the game.

  255. Grey

    Grey says:

    **Can we all pray that they don’t send Beachy out for another inning?

  256. Steve says:

    Youk has just been terrible. WTF is up with him?

  257. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: and Kubel over Frenchy? Or you taking the French one over them all?

  258. Steve says:

    @Grey: I’m OK with that, but only cos I got a vulture win from Rauch.

  259. Dominic says:

    @Grey: I am praying currently… haha Who do you think will have the better rest of the season, Jorge Posada or Nick Hundley… Also would you take Mr. Beachy over Volquez or D. Hudson?

  260. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Wilsonian: Frenchy, Sands, Kubel….

    @Dominic: Posada… Beachy and Volquez are interchangeable, Hudson is above them.

  261. tHe sHiT says:

    @Grey: If you like their music, then sure why not? Check them out…

  262. tHe sHiT says:

    @Grey: Dont get creeped out dude, no homo lol

  263. Steve says:

    @Grey: Gulp.

  264. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: thanks man. I didn’t assume Frenchy over Sands.

  265. Steve says:

    @Grey: You starting Kennedy tomorrow?

    Also, Who would you use to fill in for Morneau:

  266. charlie batch says:

    and fuentes up in the bullpen … ugh

  268. chata says:

    thanks for not gagging

  269. Steve says:

    @chata: With that Oakland ‘offense’, they need a peak-of-his-postseason-form Mariano Rivera in the ‘pen.

  270. chata says:

    nice sax

  271. chata says:

    trying to manufacture an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th ,
    though , with fuentes coming in (?) , that might not be enough

  272. Steve says:

    @chata: It should be an MLB regulation that all relievers must own themsleves in at least one fantasy league.

  273. Steve says:

    I just dropped Raburn for Frenchy. It’s all set up for him to deliver here…

  274. chata says:

    not sure how you guys pronounce the word , but ,
    in new england , we buy in-SUR-ance ….
    but in the mid-south/south (carolinas , georgia , texas) ,
    they go out and buy them some IN-sur-ance .

    cust kayin’

  275. chata says:

    sorry , meant that for your benefit

  276. Steve says:

    Heyward (who I own in two other leagues, but not the RCL) could have put this game out of reach in the last inning, so I will be mightily pissed off if Beachy (who I DO own in the RCL) misses out on a win here.

  277. chata says:

  278. ruah says:

    Using bandaids until Longoria is back: Betemit, Callaspo or Rolen?

  279. Steve says:

    @Steve: Don;t get carried away now you Braves. I’d like a save opp for Kimbrel.

  280. Whiskey Diet says:

    Would you lose Masterson for Uehara?

    14 Team, H2H. All I have at RP is Kimbrel and Sale right now. I know it’s speculative, but Masterson is what he is…

    Current SP if I lose him:

    B. Anderson

  281. Steve says:

    @Steve: Bah.

  282. Steve says:

    Raburn is a wanker.

    There, I said it.

  283. Steve says:

    @Steve: Looks like Heyward might get another chance to strand a bunch of runners.

  284. Heavy Hitters says:

    Can anyone think of a 2B that might not be owned in an average 12 team league that has a chance to make a huge impact this year? Lawrie possibly? Any others?

    Just traded away Walker as a piece to get FHer so I’m stuck with fringe guys for the time being. Thanks!

  285. Flunkie says:

    Beachy Redemption? I’m a little butthurt.

  286. Chinaski says:

    I somehow trust beachy. People told me not to start him vs. LA but i did and he didnt disappoint. Someone dropped nolasco in our league i just dont know who to drop for him. I am not gonna drop beachy nor wood…i have shields, floyd, garza,santana,lilly…grey or everybody else what do you think?
