Since there was only one game this week and players haven’t been able to get hot or cold or humid, this Buy/Sell is going to be slightly different. This Buy/Sell includes some players that are owned in more than 50% of leagues. Okay, that’s not different for the Sells, but it does change the Buys.   “Hello? No, I’m changing buys — B-U-Y-S.  Thanks, you too!”  That was GLAAD calling me about potential insensitivity. I have not triggered anyone in almost three days, unless you count that I told someone in Oregon that their state flag should be a cornucopia of Birkenstock and patchouli.  As for a Buy on Madison Bumgarner, you know that expression, “If you’re alive long enough, you will see a time when Samoans are skinny, petite men who request silver dollar-sized coconuts to cover their nipples.”  You don’t know it?  That’s because I just made it up!  Sucker! The expression I just made up is accurate, however (as far as I’m concerned, and, sadly, this isn’t a democracy, and I’m the one that matters).  The expression’s root is from the actual expression, “If you live long enough, you’ll experience everything.” I say this because who would’ve never thunk I’d be buying Bumgarner, ever. His 9.3 K/9 is the highest it’s been in three years; his walk rate of 1.9 is about as elite as it gets and he’s going to be pitching with a new team shortly, and you have to think that team will provide more win opportunities than the Aints. Also, Bumgarner strikes me as the type to get hyped up about competition, and a playoff race could bring out his best.  Unless he’s traded to the Dodgers, then the world might blow up. Was that why there were those earthquakes? Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:

BUY

Michael Conforto – I give the Mets a lot of crap, because they are, honestly, “a lot of crap.”  How’sever, I think I might be a sucker for Conforto. He’s disappointed more than most. Now that I think about it, has he ever been good for a full season? *checks Conforto’s player page* Negative, Ghost Rider. I’m still in on Conforto, though by the end of this season this might be awkward like playing I Believe I Can Fly for an inspirational moment. The guys from the barbershop must have some hilarious things to say about R. Kelly now. “He can still sing.”  “The boy can sing!” “Would I want him dating my daughter?” “He’d want to date your granddaughter!”

Austin Meadows – The Rest of the Season Player Rater doesn’t think anything special of Meadows. It doesn’t hate him or anything, but it’s also not a panty-mouth for him.  That’s as in one who pants like they’re mouth is watering; it doesn’t mean you’re chewing on your loved one’s panties.  With that said, I am a panty-mouth for Meadows. Did we forget how he was breaking out in April and then was derailed? He might not be as good as he was in April, but he’s nowhere near as bad as he’s been recently either.  Not even sure if I’d split the difference. To me, Meadows is more April than June, July or Jayne.

Aaron Judge – Someone is going to plant their flag on Planet Mollywhop and hit more homers than everyone else in the 2nd half. It happens every year, unless two or more guys tie for most homers after break. Judge has to be around 3 to 1 odds of being the guy who gets the honor of leading the league in homers after the break, and he’s not being valued nearly that highly by his owners. I’d look at the Fantasy Baseball Trade Analyzer and see if there’s a trade you can pull off.

Nate Lowe – His brother from an equally named father, Brandon, isn’t due back this weekend, and Nate is a pickup by the Hitter-Tron, like the pickup it makes at a junkyard to get its pipes air-blown.

Blake Snell – Trying to wrack my brain to find a pitcher who can be a top three starter in the 2nd half who is not coveted like a top three starter right now, and I keep going back to Snell. Is it possible Snell continues to pitch as poorly as he did in the 1st half? Um, yup, do I bring up lay-up questions often that don’t have an obvious answer? Tricked ya!  I might, who knows?  Last year, Snell had a 1.89 ERA and this year his ERA is 4.70. Yet — again with some stank — YET, he’s actually pitching a bit better this year.

Zac Gallen – I love Gallen still, but this is also a Streamonator call, like the call it makes to casting office of Mr. Robot.

Homer Bailey – Can’t believe I’m recommending Bailey, but this is also a Streamonator call. “I simply thought since your show is called Mr. Robot, you might want to talk to an actual robot.”

Emilio PaganJose Alvarado is out for around six weeks, though you can backdate that to March, because that schmohawk has been useless all year. Man (or five women), some of my preseason predictions were egregiously bad — Travis Shaw MVP! Ha!  And equally terrible was Jose Alvarado being the SAGNOF’er of the year — any hoo!  Pagan put the devil back in the Tampa Bay Rays and could be a top SAGNOF guy of the 2nd half (I just jinxed him too, didn’t I?)

Heath Hembree – There’s no way Eovaldi is going to be their closer. Maybe they’re saying all of that nonsense to keep the price low for when they get Will Smith. That would make an interesting remake of Good Will Hunting. As for Hembree? Well, who knows? I don’t think even the Red Sox know.

Sam Dyson – I could’ve also put Tony Watson here, and, will you look at that, I just did! Dyson seems to be the fill-in when Smith is traded to the Red Sox, but it could be Watson, or even *shudders* Melancon.

SELL

Josh Bell – Up front, I’m not saying trade Josh Bell for a pair of Weezy’s, which are Yeezy knockoffs inspired by Isabel Sanford.  But as alluded to in the top 100 for the 2nd half and on this week’s podcast, Josh Bell or Aaron Judge?  Obviously was Bell for the 1st half, but are we seriously thinking it has to be the same for the 2nd half?

DJ LeMahieu – Heard the other day that the Indians were aggressive listeners on Trevor Bauer possible trades. How does one become an aggressive listener? Do you jam your ear in someone’s face? Do you carry around an Elizabethan collar and, whenever anyone opens their mouth, you put it to your ear? Do you bug your enemy’s office and record everything they say?  Well, whatever it is, I’d be doing that if I owned LeMahieu.

Charlie Morton – I just told you to sell Ryu in last week’s Sell, so I’m not going to repeat all of that here, except to literally repeat all of that here by pointing it out.  I’ve also told you to sell Bell (I made you rhyme, sucker!), LeMahieu and Morton for as long as I’ve been alive, if I’ve been alive for three weeks (don’t ask).  Ryu and Morton’s biggest issue will be how many more IP can they throw. My guess is:  Not many.

Josh Donaldson – I’m such a jackhole. Why won’t I let Donaldson just be good, you ask with a soft whisper as you sip your Flat White and listen to your Pottery Barn CD.  I don’t know!  I just don’t trust him.  I am sincerely sorry (I’m not sorry).  I’m not saying to give Donaldson away for two tickets to see Bill Cosby in the mess hall variety show, Jell-o In My Cell-o, but I would use our Fantasy Baseball Trade Analyzer and see if I couldn’t concoct a trade with him.

This is my favorite piece of the week.

Now, on to biznass. I’m reaching for the Stars and trying to pry yelich and degrom from someone in my league, which is a 10 team, H2H, 4 player keeper. I’m thinking about offering Nola, iglesias, betts and Hunter Dozier for the aforementioned players. It’s a lot. He’s in need of saves. I don’t mind overpaying for that kind of talent.

    Yes, no? Thanks.

alvarado at start of year was murdering hitters for a while. still has a 3.76 FIP at this minute too (68th best RP with at least 20 innings this year). probably got his mind weird too doing whatever the hell he was doing helping out his family down south (“i told you they can trace a body from the teeth, GET RID OF THE TEETH AND FINGERS/TOES. the rest doesn’t matter!”)

Boring question: I also feel like Dyson is the guy in SF when Smith gets traded. Would you rather be holding him or Oberg in hope for saves/overall performance in the 2H?

Could also drop a bench bat like H. Dozier and roster both.

    Thanks!

I’d go Dyson over Oberg but it could really be any of Dyson, Watson or Moronta…

      I’d hold Dozier

    ***bulk alert***

Pena bulking for the Angels tonight, LeBlanc on Saturday, and one of Beeks/Yarbrough for the Rays on Sunday.

Grey, keeper question. I’ve got too many keepers in my 12 team mixed OBP league (keep four players forever, Trout and Turner are definites). Looking to trade one (or more) keeper for win now type of guys (i.e., pitching). Do you disagree with my keeper ranking below (they are in order of my thinking, with their ages):

    Arenado (28)
    Ohtani (25)
    Hoskins (26)
    Alvarez (22)
    Dahl (25)
    DominGod (26)
    Voit (28)

I can only keep two of these guys next year :(. Alvarez is obviously the biggest wildcard.

You’re the best. Happy baseball is back, hope you enjoyed your vacation.

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

Arenado, Hoskins, Alvarez, Ohtani, Dahl, Domingo, Voit

After Arenado that group of Hoskins, Alvarez, Ohtani is really close for me and I think you had the right order if it’s a daily moves league where Ohtani can play both ways.

      • Pine Tar Incident says:
        (link)

Thanks man. That group is a sticky wicket… it is a daily moves league with enough bench spots that I can have a sub for Ohtani on offensive days… Ohtani + a hot bat on off days is tough to beat.

I’m hopeful long term that the Angels either (1) make him the closer and a close to full time hitter, or (2) just let him hit.

I have a guy kicking the tires on Sale for Yelich. This is an almost no brainer right? It is a h2h pts league so I would be relying very heavily on SON from here on out, which I have faith in.

Fun fact: Oregon is the only state flag with 2 different sides, so Birkenstock’s on one side and patchouli on the other should/could work. Although I think the Oregonians would be just as likely to have a state outline of California on one side with a big red ‘X’ on it to deter the flood of Californians moving in.

This said, would you do a straight Paul Goldschmidt for Madison Bumgarner swap? (I have Shane Bieber/snell/ryu and have been streaming the other spots. I have rizzo/hunter dozier/ max muncy that have 1b eligibility to replace goldy. Or should I try and trade something less for lance Lynn? Say, Austin meadows?

    Morning Grey!

Amazing work during the break, the top 100 2nd half has me giddy.

Was able to flip Luis Castillo, Lourdes Gurriel, and Justin Upton for Gerrit Cole, JBJ, and Tim Anderson.

I’m pretty sure that I won that one, needed pitching so bad in a 12 team h2h points league. Does Segue Smooth agree?

I had to drop players to activate Corey Seager and Eddie Rosario; so Gurriel Jr. was probably the drop and my OF is still Trout, Rosario, Dahl, Pham, Whit Merrifield (Kiura at 2B).

SON likes Dylan Bundy at home vs. TB, and Wainwright at home vs. D-Backs (Robbie Ray). Start both, one, or none tonight?

    • Marty Jannetty_Was Set Up says:
      (link)

Scratch that, SON no longer likes Bundy and Waino got a pretty big down grade over night.

Bundy does have good splits vs. TB (.202 BA and only Avasail and Kiermaier have good #’s against Bundy).

I might still roll waino out there, he’s a competitor and the Cards have a shot at the playoffs…plus he’s always been a great home starter.

If you haven’t listened to the pod “This is Branchburg”, you should check it out and let me know what you think. Maybe its just funny to me because I grew up not too far from Branchburg. But that shizz cracks me up.

I joined a “super league” this year for the first time. We have 15 “divisions”, which are really just 15 seperate ESPN (god help me) 12 Team 5×5 Roto leagues, but 180 teams in the overall standings.

We’re allowed to play in 3 different divisions. My 3 teams are in 3rd, 6th and 11th places out of 180. But I like my 11th place team the best, which is a good sign I think!

Anyways. I’ve made a bunch of trades since June 20th for that 11th place team I mentioned. So much value back, while also clearing room for batty calls/streamers and grabbed a few guys like Bummer, Hirano and Joe Jimenez.

    Traded Away (11):
Hoskins, Vogelbach, H. Dozier, L. Gurriell, McNeil
    Paddack, Soroka
    Treinen, I. Kennedy, H. Robles, W. Davis

    Received (5):
    Springer, Bregman, Matt Chapman
    Verlander
    Hader

No questions today, just here to gloat!! If one of my 3 teams doesn’t win the overall I’ll eat my shirt.

    • LenFuego says:
      (link)

Yeah, that is a ton of value to get for what you gave up. Cannot blame you for gloating. Good luck in the second half. Let’s hope Bregman did not break his jaw last night.

Hah! Thx Len and best of luck to your too. Yea my heart fell out my ass this morning when I saw the DTD next to his name until I read that he just has a couple stitches in the chin. Still haven’t seen the replay, but that dood will be tough to keep out of the lineup. Not gonna be his call to take a day off today.

        • LenFuego says:
          (link)

Yeah, he will be tough to keep out. My understanding, though, is that they will do more exams today … the way he was holding his jaw and pointing to his ear, I would not at all be surprised if they find a hairline fracture in his jaw. Not sure how that would play out in terms of time missed, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that ain’t the case.

Loved the new stuff. The stuff from the early 90s was great for a season and a half… then it trails off into a bunch of nonsensical story lines that don’t matter, then the last 2 or 3 episodes were incredible. I highly recommend just watching those last few episodes, then the new season if your bored and looking for something. Its true that there are a few episodes that Lynch just gets way to artsy and make zero sense, but overall I thought it was pretty cool. Its correct that you won’t get a ton of answers to questions, but I never expected that from Lynch/Mark Frost anyway.

    Grey, Donkey Teeth

Hope you guys enjoyed your mini vacations and appreciate the early release of the buy/sell ( was wondering if it would even come out this week )

A couple of trade questions for you guys

In this league its 6×6 ( OBP added to the standard 5 ) 14 team mixed redraft.

    1. Joey Votto for Musgrove and H Strickland

    2. Joey Votto, Jorge Polanco, Luke Jackson for Manny Machado, Musgrave and Yoshihisi Hirano

My side in both of these scenerios is currently the Votto side. ( My suspicion is the other team is going to counter by asking for Hadar instead of Jackson. )

Your thoughts on each of these trades ( including the probable Hadar counter ) ?

Also, in the same league, over the break I traded Buehler and Joc Pederson for Joey Gallo.

I am in first place in 5 out of the 6 pitching cats and figured I had enough without Buehler to hold on. ( My starters are Bieber, Wheeler, Marquez, Woodruff, Gibson, Junis and Wainright ) One of the 6 cats is innings pitched and most teams have 8 or 9 pitchers rostered ( its daily moves ) This is why I am trying to add Musgrove. Not a lot to stream in free agency and we have a moves limit that make it hard to use streamonator in this particular league.
I am currently in first in this league by a nice margin ( thanks to Razzball ) but I have been accused of getting fleeced with the Buehler trade. Do you agree? Did I overpay, or was Gallo worth it ? My gut senses that Gallo will be the guy with the most HRs in the 2nd half.

At the mid point in my other two leagues ( auction 14 team mixed one a keeper and one a redraft ) I am currently in 2nd and in 4th respectively . I owe most of my success to the great insights provided on this site by Grey, Rudy, DT, Prospect Jesus, Cram it and the many others on the daily comments . Thanks to all of you guys ( and 5 girls ) for adding to the fun of this obsession.

As always, thanks in advance for reading and replying to my rambling questions. The allstar break has apparently left me jonesing for baseball. A great weekend to everyone .

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      No problem

Gallo trade is fine, you prolly got short side of it, but hopefully Gallo does well and Walker is skipped due to IP limit

I’d do the trade for Machado, Hader makes it simply fair

  24. MattyM says:
    (link)

In a standard points league, which catcher do you like better ROS – Alfaro or Garver?

    Thanks!

  25. Chad Bowling says:
    (link)

I have Diego Castillo (and Pagan). Do I keep Castillo or go get Hembree or Dyson?

Also, who should I package in a deal for Bum? I have Luchessi, Odorizzi, Clevinger, Marquez and J Gray on the block.

    • knucks says:
      (link)

Keep Castillo right now, you (should) have the TB saves locked in for the next 6-8 weeks w/ Alvarado out. Though, the Rays are unpredictable as it gets and we could also see the next save go to someone like Colin Poche. But there are too many factors in the Red Sox/Giants pen right now to be dropping Castillo for just one of them. If his shoulder is right, Diego could have a really nice 2nd half.

    • Grey

      Grey says:

Now for the always exciting catcher question to start the second half. Who you starting out the gates with in a 5×5 OBP league: Alfaro, Sisco, or Rob Perez

    Thanks!

    • LenFuego says:
      (link)

It’s close between Sisco and Perez, but I would go with the currently scorching bat — Sisco — unless and until it cools off. Alfaro loses a lot of value in OBP — only 8 walks all year so far.

I wouldn’t start either in most leagues

  31. Bobby says:
    (link)

In a 12-team standard keeper Yahoo league. Here is my roster:

    C – Grandal
    1B – Olson
    2B – Hiura
    3B – Devers
    SS – Mondesi
OF – Betts, Soto, Rosario, Santana
    BENCH – Riley, Chavis, Semien
SP – Snell, Bauer, Flaherty, Woodruff, Gallen, Sonny Gray, Pineda
    RP – Yates, Workman, Leclerc

As you can see, my team is excelling in hitting, but suffering in pitching (last in ERA and WHIP). I could possibly trade for deGrom, but I’d have to give up either Rosario/Santana/Riley and a high draft pick for next year.

Since I’m dead last in ERA and WHIP, would you recommend making this trade to help me bump up those stats? Or are we too far into the season such that 90 innings from deGrom won’t make much of an impact? Or do you think Snell, Bauer, Flaherty will finally start pitching better that deGrom is not needed?

    • Slappy Jack says:
      (link)

I would trade any of those guys for DeGrom
      How many keepers?
What does a High Draft pick player look like in your league?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      Slappy brings up good questions

      • Bobby says:
        (link)

I can keep 5 players for next year. All of the players on my roster can be kept for next year; however, deGrom could not be kept if I traded for him. As for “high draft pick” it would probably be between 3rd-5th round (technically 8th-10th round after you count the 60 keepers in the first 5 rounds)

So, deGrom for Santana/Rosario/Riley & pick 8-10 – Would you do it?

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

That’s a lot for deGrom but I’m not sure of Santana

          • Bobby says:
            (link)

I’m hesitant about that price too, especially since it’s for less than 15 starts.

If I was able trade Santana and a 10th round for deGrom, would you do that, or is that still too much?

              • Bobby says:
                (link)

Trade away Domingo Santana & a 10th round pick for deGrom – yes or no?

  32. William Hung says:
    (link)

Giving strong consideration to streaming Fiers today v. CHW… yeah, his lack of Ks is a negative, but when was the last time he gave up more than 3 ERs? Pitching is such a shit show riding him through the playoffs might actually work!

    • knucks says:
      (link)

I am in a GS limit league and I’m starting Fiers and Felix Pena. Figure Pena can offset the Ks. I think the SON liked Fiers more earlier in the week than it does today, but I’m still rolling with the plan.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

Not sure what he was earlier in the week, but as of last night he was like $8ish and now I see him as $2ish – i’m surprised his per game value is -$7.7

Are Ks really worth that much?

        • knucks says:
          (link)

Worth that much to who, me? I neglected to mention its a QS league. So I am fighting to keep my Ks up and score a QS, while only using 1 GS. I think it makes sense for me. But I have other leagues that are standard roto with IP limits instead of GS limits and I want nothing to do with Fiers there. So I dunno exactly what my answer for you is… just throwing some Fiers perspective out there.

          • William Hung says:
            (link)

Oh I meant SON – just saying it’s surprising to see his value so low (-$7.7 per game) when he’s been rolling off some good starts for like 2 months

            • knucks says:
              (link)

Ohhh yea I feel ya there, but you know better than to question the Robot Billy!

Anyways, there’s not a ton of upside with him. Is this a H2H situation? Or roto?

              • William Hung says:
                (link)

H2H situation – i was gonna roll him out there for the 2 starts for this week’s matchup to keep my ERA/WHIP in check since it seems it’s always 5 or higher… and that’s the WHIP sometimes

Happy Friday Grey!!!!! Two quick questions:

    1) would you drop Brandon Workman (1,79 ERA, 14 holds, 28 BB’s in 40 IP) for Yusmeiro Petit (2.47 ERA, 15 holds, 6 BB’s in 51 IP)?

    2) we agreed on dropping Pujols and Yandy Diaz when Seager and Rosario come off the IL? Who should I drop first? Pujols or Diaz?

    Thanks as always.

    • knucks says:
      (link)

      1) Sounds like Holds matter… Petit has 7 in the last 30 days and Workman has 2. The Red Sox are the better team. Prob a coin flip. Good luck…

      2) Drop Pujols before you drop Yandy

    • knucks says:
      (link)

      BONUS!

Other Holds guys to take a look at. If Petit is available, I’d bet some of these guys are too.

Austin Adams should be back of the IL soon
      Colin Poche
      Newcomb or Jacob Webb
Wittgren. Who could also fall into Saves in a few weeks, maybe you have that as a category too?
      Chafin
      Austin Brice

        knucks,

    • LenFuego says:
      (link)

      1) Seems like apples or apples to me. What is the format and relevant rules of your league?
      2) Seems fine … drop Pujols first. I would be OK with holding Yandy over Seager too, but you probably can’t really just drop Seager (Seager ain’t exactly raking even when healthy, and a hamstring can nag at you).

So glad baseball is back. I like the Nate Lowe call. Can’t figure out why the Rays didn’t give him the job over G-Man the first time he was called up.

Did you miss one sell? Good-bye Newman?? Bating 7th is a death sentence to many counting stats. Another part of it is that he was killing it at leadoff when he saw sliders. Now at the bottom of the order he will see more fastballs and he becomes a ground ball machine with only Batting avg. upside?

    Sell or Hold?

    • knucks says:
      (link)

Sell Newman for what? I’m holding him everywhere. Frazier will go cold again. And even if he doesn’t, that C**nt in the Bucs dugout isn’t exactly predictable, could randomly see Newman batting leadoff a few times a week even if Frazier doesn’t suck.

    Castillo
    Flaherty
    Gallen
    Liam Hendricks
    Car Mart
    Porcello
    Eovaldi

JoRam for Brantley/Domingo German, what side?

    • LenFuego says:
      (link)

In a vacuum it is Brantley/German side, but those two sides give you completely different things, so context is really needed … what type of league, where are you in standings, what categories do you need, keeper ramifications if any, etc.

      • LenFuego says:
        (link)

On further thought, not even sure in a vacuum it is Brantley/German. So much depends on who the F Ramirez is … he is probably the mist confounding player to value right now … he could be anywhere from top 10 to bottom 10.

    • Grey

AL-only keeper, I’m going for it this year and trying to make some moves before real-life trades make me desperate. I’m thinking I need SV as my RP are Greene, Parker, Workman and Barnes, all of whom may not be getting any by Aug. 1. My $5 Boyd would be an excellent trade chip, but he’s also helping my roster a ton and if he goes to an AL contender would be even better. That said, if he goes to say the Padres I’m hosed. Would you dangle Boyd for a relatively secure, established closer (maybe an Osuna or Giles would be available from teams out of it) or make a lesser offer for riskier RPs like Hendriks or Robles?

    Love the buy/sell! Thanks much.

16-OPS keeper league. My pitching has been really up and down, after dominating last year. Some of it has been cause of Diaz’s struggles, but my starters have been hit or miss. So kicking around a trade that would send JD Martinez to land DeGrom (the other owner has Bauer and Greinke too).

My other OFs are Yelich, Marte, and McNeill.
My SPs are Verlander, Sale, Flaherty, Wheeler, and Dinelson (Salazar stashed on DL)

Alternatively, I could try and move an infield bat (McNeill, Newman, or JRam) for a RP, though I’m hesitant to buy RPs. My current RPs are Diaz, Vazquez, Buttery, and Hendricks.

Do I try and make a move for an arm or stay put?

Exactly what Whirlaway said here. If its on the table take it and run before he changes his mind. I don’t mess with Pts leagues anymore, cause player evaluations get confusing, but I think that Story for any pitcher that is not named Verlander, Scherzer, Degrom, etc is a win for you.

I can only assume aggressive listening in this context means that they cold call teams they think might be interested and then sit there breathing heavily into the phone, waiting for them to say something.

Thank you sir Grey. Nice post to see who to potentially move. With that said I am a bit out of it this year so looking to identify my keepers as early as possible.

10 team dynasty league keep forever. 6 X 6 OPS and QS. I have it pretty narrowed down I think. We get to keep 10:

    Current Roster:
    C- Danny Jansen
    1B – Anthony Rizzo
    2B – Whit Merrifield
    3B – Bregman
    SS – Turner
    OF – Hoskins
    OF – Springer
    OF – Soto
    UT – Carlost Santana
    UT – Yordan
    UT – Benintendi
    BN – Lemahieu
    BN – Nelson Cruz
    BN – Victor Robles
    BN – Austin Riley
    BN – Michael Conforto
    BN – Yasiel Puig
    DL – Brendan Rodgers

    SP – Aaron Nola
    SP – Thor
    SP – Flaherty

I have my keeper list right now as:

    Rizzo
    Bregman
    Trea
    Soto
    Robles
    Yordan
    Springer
    Benintendi
    Hoskins
    Puig

It’s the 10th spot I am unsure of. Should that be Puig / Riley / Whit or Nola?

    Thank you!

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

Hmm… Tough call right now… Bunch of baseball still to be played, but right now I’d go Nola since you have all bats

My current line up is Grandal, Bell, Mondesi, Machado, Bogaerts, Dahl, Yelich, K, Davis, Bryant and Tatis at UTI LeMahieu, LGurriel, and Verdugo on the Bench.. I want to improve my batting average ( I didnt have this lineup all year) would you trade Davis and LeMaheiu for Story or Rendon.. i tried getting Arendado, but the guy wouldnt budge. i threw picks for next year in also

    • Grey

I’d take Story or Rendon, that order

  56. Immaculate Inning says:

Give Yordan and Lourdes for Springer or Soto? In what order?

  57. Whirlaway says:
    (link)

Grey… Royals fans have waited 8 long years for Bubba Starling and not even a mention?!?!

3 of the next 4 picks after Bubba in 2011, you ask? Rendon… Lindor… Baez… gulp

      • Whirlaway says:
        (link)

he’s not even on the radar, right?

finally hitting .310/.358/.448 in AAA but he’s 26…

outside chance at 10/10 next season with .250-ish (if we’re lucky)? so basically Tyler Naquin lol

hard to project anything good when he hasn’t played more than 110 games in 5 years… hopefully his CF is as good as they say

        • Grey

          Grey says:

do not underestimate the things Royals will do the sell Friday night tix… vs the Tigers… 27 games back… on July 12.

good for him though, honestly. been an up and down 7 years for him, people have written him off for 5 years around here as ‘bust, doesn’t like baseball, will never hit’.

not a lot of teams he’d probably be getting the call for right now, but he’s legitimately worked his way up.

            other 2011 draft gems…

            1.2 Danny Hultzen :-)

            1.10 Corey Spangenberg
            1.11 George Springer
            1.12 Taylor Jungmann

            2.44 Trevor Story

  61. Dave D says:

I just experienced a minor trauma. I hadn’t been in here for awhile and was logged out. So, when I opened the page I didn’t have my ad-free Razzball logged in and had to navigate the pictures of 800-lb women and volcanic acne close-ups before I could close the browser and log back in. Just a word to the wise, if you come here often and don’t have ad-free, its worth every penny of the $10 or so it costs. It’ll prevent nightmares and perhaps even erectile dysfunction.

Back to the business if fantasy-balling… getting all my starters for three day weekend schedule figured out and plugging in all my normally useless relief pitchers on my DC teams into available lineup slots. Drudge work. Here’s to a tremendously successful second half!!!!

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

800-lb women with volcanic acne close-ups sounds awesome! But if they’re separate then no good!

    (link)

Yo Grey, My season is pretty much lost so I’m looking at improving my keeper hitters. Right now my four are Rizzo, Story, Bryant and Stanton (though I also have Ozuna). I’m obviously trying for one of the big boys like Judge or Bellinger, but not sure they’ll bite.

What do you think about Ketel Marte as a keeper? I’m not sure it’s much of an improvement if any, unless his first half is for real. The trade analyzer doesn’t think a ton of him, but was curious on your thoughts as to whether he’s an upgrade as a keeper over any of my guys.

    • Grey

      Grey says:

comments getting thin, mayhaps we’ve hit the line of the season that a good chunk of bums go absentee (that and there hasn’t been any changes in days except for minor shit like molina going back where he should’ve been left with the thumb thingy, and turnbull coming up WAY earlier than any news report showed, to the point that in yahoo “daily-tomorrow” we can’t get his start today since this didn’t appear till after 3 AM eastern)

    – anybody else have darvish AND archer for their kick ass day (me only in 20 team dynasty where i COULD’VE turned archer into a streamer, but i hadn’t done it yet, not like there are good options there)

    – NL only with holds added but my bullpen has no saves with this: rodney (is the backup now over suero, even though it makes no sense), hirano (when it looked for SURE holland was hitting the tunnel out of ARI town added), baez and j.urias (and k-rob in DL slot) drop hirano or rodney for n.anderson (sounds like the guy if/when romo is flipped) or dyson (for when w.smith if is flipped)

    Morning grey,
Somebody dumped edrod in a 12 team HTH league. I’d like to grab him. The only real possible drops are Elias, Desmond, peacock. Desmond is my bench bat/fill in while Bregman is out. Peacock is on the DL so I guess I’d have to drop 2 to grab edrod. Elias is my 5th RP. Not a stellar group with Neris, Iglesias, Hendricks, Rogers.
    What do you think?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

I wouldn’t drop 2 for EdRod right now

He’s a drop, that’s an easy call. But what do I do with Gallen? Can’t flip him and he’s practically useless in a QS league. What do you say, hold and see how he does again the Dodgers or drop for a streamer option?

AL only with holds added and QS over wins. 10 team h2h.
SP: paxton, pena, minor, ed-rod, porcello, gibson, duffy, yarbrough (he is back like i assumed shortly after break)
RP (4): buttrey, barnes, pressly, parker
NA (1): manning (puk, mize owned already, pearson out there, also reid-foley who’s done well when up last 3 or so times out)

hudson was just dropped, i could use saves here if/when TOR moves giles. other guys who obtained value in saves later in season were already owned by the time they did (henricks). best SP in FA: norris, SAMPSON!, montas (can’t stash in yahoo, would take up a BN slot), harvey, plutko.

i’m guessing my bullpen guys are too valuable to drop for hudson here, but yarbrough probably could be dropped. then later if/when giles is traded away make a RP decision at that time on who to drop. if giles still on TOR hudson is easy drop. biagini is also out there if they went that way. probably have to make this decision shortly as pence in DL slot comes off supposedly tuesday and i don’t have a hitter drop for him easily (dannys antana doing too well even if he doesn’t play every day, bauers probably too solid to drop, grichuk/mercado too good as well)

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

You don’t really have anyone to drop, but you have to drop Yarbrough for Pence in a few days anyway

      • Eli Man Penguin Boy says:
        (link)

yeah, but i won’t be unless
        1. pence goes so batshit i actually want to use 2 BN slots for hitters (i don’t desire doing that, but he had periods of going exactly that batshit earlier)
        2. somebody else gets hurt and pence and that guy (hopefully a hitter) switch spots.
i am a likely playoff team here (been top 3 all year, all 3 of us are close too, winning this week (but very early in week, day 3 out of 10 today, unless we count HOU vs TEX on thursday as day 1, then day 4 out of 11)

I hope you’re doing well! I’m in a standard 5×5 h2h league where I’m in first. One of the top competitors is offering me Liam Hendricks for my Mike Clevinger.

I am in need of saves as I have Diego Castillo (and alvarado on DL), Greg Holland, raisel iglesias, and Brandon Workman.

My SP staff is as follows: Cole, Giolito, Caleb Smith, Lucchesi, Eflin, Chirinos, Gallen, Canning, Clevinger

My questions are, do you think Hendricks has the job secure over Treinen at this point? And do you take the trade if you’re my team, and is it close? Thanks!

    Trea, Albies, Segura
    Acuna, Soler, Laureno, Bryant, Eloy
    Util: N Lowe

    Hitters: JoMa, Reddick, Braun, Dannys
