J. Vazquez dropped

Postby CarlWeathers » Thu Apr 22, 2010 7:07 am

I have Bills on my team, who I should probably drop for him? Or Webb? But with Zimmerman hurting I was thinking of picking up Headley who is 3B eligible and dropping Webb for that. I'm tyring to trade away Beltran and Webb but this league is too shallow and league mates are too smart...or something!

What to do?

Looking at your team and given the shallowness of your league, I would let Vazquez go. I don't want him in my 12 team leagues.

I'd take Billingsley over Vaz since he throws in the NL and has a similarly good offense behind him.

But don't give up on Vaz yet. Unless he's injured (and he's been durable if nothing else), he should have value. His ERA will be over 4, but he should K at least 170 and win 15. You could do worse.

I'd drop Webb for Javy.

I got him and dropped Webb, the quote in the Arizona Republic article saying something like recovery could take 6mos or 16 months did it for me. Too high of a chance that he doesnt get back to pitching decent until end of Aug. or something. This league is so shallow anyways. I'll actually never go in a 10 team league again.

I think you did the right thing. I'm holding on to Webb but only b/c I think he'll be a good value next year at $4. For this year, and even though he won't approach last year's numbers, Vazquez is the call
