Carl Crawford

Postby EEE256 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 11:30 am

Is he back? I know he is hot currently and it is early in the season but I am wondering if i should target him via trade. The owner who has him sent out a message to the league saying he wants to trade hitting for pitching. Interested in hearing some pitchers names who would be around his value in a 1 for 1 swop....

Any input would be much appreciated. Thx

I might throw Cobb his way but not much more than that. I am just not buying it. Maybe if there was more than just singles holding up his BA.

I'm in the opposite situation (considering trading Crawford and really need pitching).

I can tell you finding the right value for Crawford will be difficult.

For me, it goes like this:
Pre-Season Value: He was worth a Top 35-40 SP
Now: Top 20-25 SP
Mid-May if he's still looking like vintage Crawford? Top 15 SP (10 if your team is desperate for runs/speed/OBP)

Is that too much? Maybe, but most Crawford owners got him cheap. It's house money and a stock with a chance to rise rapidly by doing what he's done his whole career except for a little over one season in a very different situation.

You take the chance on his value rising or, at worst, don't get much out of player you paid nothing for. You don't trade him less than he might be worth.

I have offers to get Peavy or Gallardo for him. I'm holding off. Maybe dumb, but I'll hold and see if I can get better in a couple of weeks. And this is coming from someone in desperate need of pitching and that also owns both the rich man's Crawford (Ells) and the poor man's Crawford (Marte).
