ESPN vs Yahoo!

Postby Bourne » Thu Feb 16, 2012 4:46 pm

I tried espn for football. It was aight. Mock drafts are not even close. ESPN has mildly better graphics, but that ends where it is good. You can more easily join drafts in Yahoo, and the display seems far more user friendly. During the season I find Yahoo built easier to add and drop players and view how players are doing. Do people prefer ESPN to Yahoo?

I like ESPN better. I think it's a better setup all the way. I had plenty of Yahoo teams last year, but I'm not going to have any teams there this year.

Am I missing something in the mock drafting? I have to wait 20 minutes for a 12 team snake mock draft.

I did one ESPN league last year for S's & G's and prefer the yahoo format. To be fair, I started with yahoo. I'm sure there was a learning curve when I started with them too, but I prefer it to my ESPN experience.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.

Well, I haven't done any mocks at either site this season. I was referring to season play.

I've been playing fantasy sports on Yahoo! Since 2001, so I'm pretty much stuck with them for the rest of my life. I had my first ESPN team for last year's RCL and I'll have one for RCL this year, too, but other than that in just too used to Yahoo! To go anywhere else

10 Team 6X6 H2H Dynasty Year 5
C - Wilson Ramos
1B - Freddie Freeman
2B - Gleyber Torres
3B - Nolan Arenado
SS - Trea Turner
OF - Mike Trout
OF - Ronald Acuna
OF - Yordan Alvarez
OF - Kris Bryant
UTL - Javier Baez
UTL - Adalberto Mondesi
Bench - Rhys Hoskins, Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton, Jonathan Schoop, Rowdy Tellez

SP - Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg, Blake Snell, Chris Sale, Jose Berrios, Chris Paddack, Mike Soroka, German Marquez
RP - Ken Giles, Dellin Betances, Taylor Rogers, Geovanny Gallegos, Colin Poche, Corey Knebel
Pedo NA Purgatory Felipse Vazquez

Prospects:
SP: Grayson Rodriguez, Josiah Gray, Seth Corry, Franklin Perez, Ryan Weathers, Blake Walston
RP: James Karinchak
OF: Luis Robert, Alek Thomas, Jesus Sanchez, Kameron Misner, Bayron Lora
IF: Vidal Brujan, Alexander Mojica, Malcolm Nunez, Greg Jones, Gunnar Henderson

2017 - 2nd place. Finished regular season 5 games ahead of 2nd place but lost in the playoffs.

I prefer yahoo over ESPN. Adding/Dropping players is a lot better. It also seems like people stay active in Yahoo Public leagues compared to ESPN.

I wonder if someone could conduct a study on this?

I'm doing my first ESPN league (via Razzball of course) this year and, after 10 years of Yahoo Fantasy Baseball, it's going to take some getting used to. I don't really care about the graphics and pictures, I care about usability and so far Yahoo is winning for me - but it's too early for me to make a call.

The problem is, I generally hate ESPN - their sports coverage is so sensationalized that I just get nauseous when I watch them. Plus every analyst they have (especially football and basketball) just make wildly inaccurate, generalized claims without any facts or information to back it up. I swear, sports writers are more worthless than meteorologists.

Yahoo pre-draft seems more customizable unless I'm missing something.

Wow. You hate ESPN? Life must suck for you since ESPN is EVERYWHERE (and on all the time!)! :)
