Denard Span

Postby sjglauber » Mon Jul 19, 2010 4:48 pm

What do we think of Denard Span? He's basically on pace to deliver exactly what everyone projected for him in the preseason--.270, ~90 runs, <10hr, ~30sb. Of his 101 hits this season, 13 are doubles, which doesn't quite tell whether power is coming.

For some reason I like Span going forward. I'm trying to sell Corey Hart in a league I'm likely not going to earn money in. Best I can do at the moment is deal him for Span and a 12th rounder in next year's draft. I'll keep trying on Hart, but is this a viable fallback plan? Is Span even a more valuable keeper than Hart (if he's traded to SD, that answers that).

I'd hold Hart there or try and get a better keeper.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

I like Span, but power won't come. If you need steal, sure. Otherwise, like what master Grey said, find a better target.

Span is pissing me off. His home/away splits are ridiculous and he's barely even attempting to steal. So far my 3 drafted OFs of Span, Abreu, and Ellsbury have been complete failures.

I keep hearing "span has a history of heating up in the second half" but he doesn't exactly have a long history to make that sort of prediction. Needless to say I'm trying to find a buyer.

I hate Span. I don't understand why people rank him so highly.

10/30 is his upside. I'd rather have someone with some pop, at least they will give you RBI.
