Explode as in being really good? Closers are completely volatile. If you're looking to acquire one, I suggest you aim low and hope for something great. Such as, go after Torres or Corpas (hoping Fuentes gets traded) or Izzy or Morrow or Broxton.

once again my team:

C - B. Molina
1B - C. Pena
2B - Kinsler
SS - Reyes
3B - Atkins
OF - C. Lee
OF - Conor Jaxon
OF - Ellsbury
Util - Thome
BN - Hardy
BN - Votto
BN - M. Reynolds

SP - Haren
SP - Volquez (i drafted him like you said to!)
SP - Beckett
RP - Marmol (league uses holds)
RP - McClellan
RP - Rauch
P - J. Sanchez (just picked up...)
DL - Harang
DL - Jenks

i forgot to include rauch...

do you think he will be traded? Should I try to trade Rauch and someone to improve a closer? Where do you stand on Hoffman? His owner sits him every day 'cuz he's the owner in the league with like 4-5 closers and can't start them all. He only starts on short schedule days...

Any way you think I can improve, Grey, I'll likely try it. I am in first place because I have good luck: teams have bad weeks against me... that and I do extensive research on streaks (hot/cold), and matchups.... thanks Grey! I love razzball...

Izzy is a FA in my league..., fyi.........

I'm just thinking of ways to improve because this luck can't keep up forever... (as far as owners having bad weeks vs. my team)

Everyone in my league is obsessed with saves, so I sometimes win that category, but usually not. Depends on how great a week Rauch and Jenks have. I almost always win holds with Marmol and McClellan, however.

thanks again Grey

Your league is obsessed but Izzy's a free agent? LaRussa's said he will get some saves in the 2nd half. Why not trade Hardy for a closer? Say Torres or Marte.

based on my roster slots, I have gone with two holds guys and two saves guys. Most others have 3-4 saves guys. That's why I say I seldom win the saves category. Maybe one week out of the month. I have Marmol and McClellan and win holds 90% of the time due to the fact that the other owners, save myself and one other owner of the 12, have all saves guys. But I want to respect that fantasy baseball rule: Do not ignore completely one of the categories.

whattaya say Grey?

OF - Conor Jaxon
Util - Thome
BN - Hardy
BN - Votto
BN - M. Reynolds

Those guys ^^^ up there. They can be better. Right now, only one of them has any trade value -- Hardy. Maybe slight value for Votto, but doubtful.

Three guys on your bench for hitting, is two too many. I could see carrying someone if you have lots of iffy spots, but your lineup is solid. Why are you holding Hardy when you have Reyes? Trade him for something you need. I'd say trade Thome and slot Hardy into utility, but no one's going to give you anything for any of those other schmohawks.

You need a closer, so trade Hardy for one. The only thing else I see is trading Pena and slotting Votto in at 1b. The reason this is not as good? Pena is worth more than any closer you're going to get.

if not a closer, should I target a SP? what level SP is worth a Hardy-type?
