Cole vs. Fernandez

Postby JoeyShats » Thu Jan 30, 2014 4:23 pm

Obviously Fernandez is ranked higher both for 2014 and longterm, but would you rather have Fernandez OR Cole + Anthony Rizzo? Fernandez and Cole have the same salaries and the league is heavily pitcher friendly, so is Fernandez's upside that much higher than Cole that i should sacrifice Rizzo's potential? What does everyone think? How do these two compare in 2014 and beyond? Thanks.

I'd take Cole and Rizzo
Grey Albright

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.

I think people are sleeping on Rizzo a bit. Is the guy the monster he was in AAA? Probably not. But his BA will increase as he becomes more comfortable with pitch recognition. If he keeps the FB/HR% where it is and increases his BA (not to mention his BABIP), he's going to be very, very good for a long time.

That level of production will offset the difference between Cole and Fernandez (which I see as being not as big as people suggest as I see regression (a tad) for Fernandez and progression from Cole).

So, Cole + Rizzo is a win, in my eyes.

I dont know that JoFer is going to be more valuable than Cole long term.

Rizzo + Cole is more than enough for me.

1B- Goldschmidt
OF- Bautista
OF- Bruce
OF- Rios
OF- Puig
UTIL- Longoria

Bench: Pujols,
