Fielder & Hanley for Tulo and others

Postby realdeal18 » Fri May 17, 2013 7:14 am

Posted on here a couple days ago about a similar deal involving Latos. The kid backed out so this is what we're looking at now. Personally not sure it's enough for Tulo and Ellsbury. And should I take a chance on Hanley?

Team is below. 14 team league, H2H non-keeper, usual 5x5. Let me know what you think.

Neil Walker
CJ Wilson or Wandy Rodriguez

AJ Griffin
H2H 12 team league non-keeper. 5x5 stats w OBP instead of AVG and saves PLUS holds instead of saves

C Tom Murphy
1B Paul Goldschmidt
2B Scooter Gennett
SS Eduardo Escobar
3B Eugenio Suarez
2B/SS Josh Harrison
1B/3B Anthony Rizzo
OF Lorenzo Cain
OF Starling Marte
OF Teoscar Hernandez
UTIL Jesus Aguilar
BN Marcus Semien
BN Brett Gardner

SP Justin Verlander
SP Aaron Nola
SP Ross Stripling
P Tyler Skaggs
P Carlos Rodon
P Mike Montgomery
P Jeurys Familia
P Steve Cishek
P Kirby Yates
BN Joe Musgrove
BN Rich Hill

I don't like the Hanley piece so this would be a no for me.

I don't think you should trade for an injured Hanley as a major piece in a deal, especially when the last time he was "healthy" he was hurt two games later and is now out for another month. Essentially you're trading Tulo and Ellsbury for Fielder and some filler pieces. Fielder is great, but that's a steep price to pay.

I think you know where you need to improve, and selling Tulo or Ellsbury while they're actually healthy is a good idea, but I don't think this is the trade for you. If you're really just looking to get Prince, Tulo and one of your 1B among Belt, Loney, and Overbay, for Prince and Cozart would be a fairly even trade and way less risky for you. If you could squeeze Neil Walker into the deal, even better for you since Scutaro isn't going to give much in the way of category juice.
