My MadBum for his Price
My MadBum for his Price
MadBum playing out of his mind right now and if due for a regression..what do ya think?
Re: My MadBum for his Price
Seems pretty fair. I think Price will get better and Bumgarner probably won't stay this good. But Bumgarner might be taking that step forward. I think I would do it because of Price's track record but pretty close.

Re: My MadBum for his Price
2011 stats:
Madbum - 13-13/3.21/1.21/191
vs.
Price - 12-13/3.49/1.13/218
2012 stats:
Madbum - 16-11/3.37/1.11/191
vs.
Price - 20-5/2.56/1.10/205
Grey's 2013 projections:
Madbum - 16-9/3.28/1.08/195
vs.
Price - 16-8/2.90/1.09/210
These are the past two season totals and Grey's preseason rankings for Bumgarner vs. Price... They're close enough that I don't think it'd be beneficial to trade the guy pitching amazingly for the guy pitching poorly. Price is undoubtedly a good pitcher and there's no reason why he shouldn't turn things around, but I remember thinking that about Tim Lincecum his first bad year, too. Sometimes crazy stuff happens.
It's not necessarily a bad trade, but I don't think it's a good one either with Bumgarner's track record looking pretty solid compared to that of Price before this year.
