More Cutch trade fun

Postby nyphilsphan » Mon Apr 29, 2013 10:36 am

In my 12-team H2H points
I started low with my BJ Upton/Heyward for McCutchen. He countered with McCutchen straight up for J-Ups. Preseason I make that trade, which is why I haven't rejected and countered, yet.

Is my Bautista and Heyward for McCutch worth throwing out there, or too insulting?

I wouldn't make that offer. Joey Bats and Upton for McCutch is lopsided. You are giving up to much, and you will take a lot of power off your team. GOLDY AND Miggy can't carry your team

I'd do the straight up JUp for Cutch. Cutch is in a slump, buy low and then ride the lightning when he gets hot, which he will.

I'd rather have Upton... McCutchen's season last year was great, but not really all that much better than Upton's two years ago. They've got similar skill sets and overall value when healthy/at the top of their game so why trade the hot one for the slumping one?

As for Bautista/Heyward for McCutchen... That seems steep, too. You're talking about trading what was likely your 2nd and 3rd round picks for a slumping 1st round caliber guy. Even with Heyward being hurt, that seems a little high. It makes sense to try to buy low on McCutchen because he'll almost certainly snap out of it, but the key to buying low is to actually buy low, not give up too much. If you're not getting him at a discount, it's probably not worth it.

Heyward was 5th round, but we reach crazy early for pitchers in that league you are correct that pro-rated he was a third-round hitter. Thanks for the comments. I have terrible imagination/luck when it comes to trades on my own team so I appreciate the resposes.
