Need Some Quick Advice (Selling Harvey)

My current roster is:

C - Santana
1B - Goldschmidt
2B - Pedroia
3B - Longoria
SS - Rutledge
OF - A Jones, A Gordon, Morse
Util - Berkman
Bench - Brandon Moss, Profar, Adam Eaton (DL)

SP - Harvey, Samardzja, Shelby Miller, Tommy Milone, Carlos Villnueva, Andrew Cashner
RP - Nathan, Balfour, Mujica

I've been offered a trade of Dexter Fowler and Ryan Dempster for Matt Harvey.

Question 1: Would you do it? I'm leaning yes since I could use a little speed. Side note this is an OBP league for what its worth.

Question 2: if you did who would you drop?

I would wait to see what anyone else says, but I don't know if I'd do that. I don't think that's selling Harvey. If I could get him for Dempster and Fowler I'd do it in a second. He's your best pitcher. I would like to think you could sell him for a bigger OF piece.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but I'm a little confused by your post Wilsonian. You said wait and see, but also "for Fowler and Dempster" you'd "do it in a second".

I meant: wait and see what others say on here, but I wouldn't do the deal where you give up Harvey. I also meant that if I could deal Dempster and Fowler for him and GET Harvey in return, I would do it in a second. Not the other way around where you're dealing him away. I like Harvey a lot and he's your best pitcher. I think you could get much more for him than a middling SP and a hot schmotato. Fowler is good, but he isn't winning you your league. A stud like Harvey would have more impact, in my opinion.

So hypothetically you do roll with the deal. My roster considered who are you dropping? Moss? Milone? Villanueva?

Don't do the deal. If that's the best you can get for Harvey, then hold off. He's your best pitcher and you're not getting much in return. Two guys drafted LATE or picked up off of waivers who have had good starts. You can find that on the waiver wire. Where are you finding another Harvey?

Harvey's the top-ranked pitcher in Yahoo's universe right now... Dempster is a good strike out pitcher with a mediocre ERA at best. Fowler is more of an upper teens power/speed guy. I think you could get more in return.

Like it was mentioned before, you'd be better off targeting one single player, but personally I think you should hold onto Harvey. If you trade him for an offensive player your pitching is going to take a hit... Harvey now has a 7-5 record with a 2.29 ERA, 0.975 WHIP, and 109 K's in 94.1 career MLB innings. There's no reason to get rid of that unless you're being overwhelmed. His minor league numbers suggest that his ERA is going to rise, but the strikeouts are real and his stuff is real.

Definitely not enough. You can get almost anything for Harvey right now.
