We need a term for....

So listening to afternoon sports talk and my guy made a comment that got mes a thinkin - "I shot off an email last night to Bud Selig signed his best friend terry that really you cannot let Roy Halladay go through the National League its not right or fair. You're going to have to stop that and send Jake Peavy back to the National League."

Now I'm just not creative enough to spit out a fitting term... but we need something for off-season and in-season acquisitions that sends a good NL pitcher to AL and a mediocre AL pitcher to the NL. This typical ends up in suckage or fortuitous success, in that order. See CC, Javy, Lilly, Peavy, Halladay, Clifford, Willis, Blanton etc....

Hmm... Not a bad area for a term. Let me see if Rudy's got any ideas.

Maybe for pitchers headed to the NL it could be "Shevi'ith!"

Derived from: "At the site of Porphyreon ("Castra") recent excavations uncovered an object inscribed "Shevi'ith" in square Hebrew characters which apparently refers to the Jewish Sabbatical year."

Used in a sentence: "With Schoeneweis landing in San Diego he gets to go Shevi'ithing around the National League!"

When and if a term is deemed desirable it could be generalized to interleague play.

"Verlander gets a Shevi'ith vs. the Pirates." Well most nights are a sabbatical for pitchers against the Pirates but you get the idea.

I like how your brain thinks, but that might be too out there.

Vazquectomy

As in, "Ouch, the NYY (or, insert-your-fantasy-team-name here) gave themselves a Vazquectomy signing Javier this season)" Would work the other way, too: "Roy Halladay's stats, good as they were in the AL, will get a Vazquectomy now that he faces the pitching spot several times a game. Sign me up for one of those!"

Meh, it's just OK. There's probably something better out there.

How about "Sabathical" instead? (After C.C. of course): "Vasquez's stats will go on Sabathical after heading the the Braves."

In could work in reverse as well, going from the NL to the AL: "Vasquez's stats will end Sabathical after being traded to the Yankees."
