A "Rip Van Winkle"

Got a good suggestion to add to our Glossary (fantasy-baseball-terms/)? Here's where to submit it...

A "Rip Van Winkle"

Postby Widespread Panic » Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:38 pm

Rip Van Winkle is the old fairy tale about a man who was lazy and fell asleep after drinking some strange liquor. He woke up 20 years later to realize the America was no longer ruled by the British and his wife had died....etc

A baseball Rip Van Winkle is a player who falls asleep during the first half of the season and suddenly wakes up in June and realizes that real baseball games are actually being played and he's expected to contribute.

Perennial Rip Van Winkles are Robinson Cano (not this year), Ryan Howard, Paul Konerko, and Mark Texiera.

Probably already a term for this but I got into a debate about the difference between Rumplestilskin (dwarf who spun gold) and Rip Van Winkle with a someone....yeah, I know. Don't you wish you were there for that conversation? Anyway....I hate Rip Van Winkles!!!
God is Love
Love is Blind
Ray Charles is Blind
Does that mean Ray Charles is God?

I can't imagine myself calling (or writing) a player is a Rip Van Winkle.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
