It's never too early, right?

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

There are rumblings of us being allowed to keep a 7th. I'd be thinking Bailey - agree? Or maybe Sean-Rod for the MI slot?

Plus - would Blanks be your favourite cheap power guy?

C Buster Posey $5
1B Joey Votto $26
2B Robinson Cano $15
3B Mat Gamel $5
SS Stephen Drew $20
CI Ian Stewart $5
MI Alexei Ramirez $10
OF Dexter Fowler $5
OF Curtis Granderson $15
OF Carlos Gonzalez $5
Util Shane Victorino $17
BN Sean Rodriguez $5
BN Nolan Reimold $5
Max Scherzer $14
Matt Cain $15
Derek Holland $5
Fernando Rodney $5
Andrew Bailey $5
Jose Valverde $16

Hate to fill your outfield, but I'd go CarGo over Bailey.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
Thanks!

OK. As we know, I'm keeping Votto, Cano, Grandy, Victorino, Cain and Stewart. Thus, need some reliable power.

It's looking like the power guy I'd have a realistic shot at (Tex, Albert will be in the draft, but likely to be too expensive) is Dunn, who I could slot into the OF or at corner. 10-team Point Shares has him at $16 (adjusted for our $300 cap). Bearing in mind it is an OBP league (that also counts hitters' Ks), do you think I could maybe go to the mid $20s for him?

Or am I better to go after guys like Swish, Blanks, Konerko on the cheap?

Or a bit of both?
Yeah, like Dunn there a lot. Mid-20's would work.
$15 is even better!

And here's how it ended up:

C Montero $7
1B Votto $26 (kept)
2B Cano $15 (kept)
3B Stewart $5 (kept)
SS Reyes $35 (kept)
CI Dunn $15 (kept)
MI Desmond $1
OF Car-Go $5 (kept)
OF Grandy $15 (kept)
OF Bay $23
Util BJ Upton $20
SP Cain $15 (kept)
SP Bills $17
SP Baker $9
RP Wilson $9
RP Dotel $12
P Ubaldo $15
P Oswalt $7
BN Pence $9
BN Slowey $7
BN Chapman $4
BN Nunez $9
BN Madson $3
BN Lyon $1
BN Alvarez $1

Better team than last year I think, as I watched the money more carefully. So carefully, in fact, that I had $15 left over - idiot! That said, with approx 60 top guys kept and only 3 OF, there wasn't a whole lot to throw your money around on after the initial flurry of big spending. Still...

Didn't really have a spot for Pence, but $9 seemed a nice price, same with $4 for Chapman. Spent too much on a catcher though. Fire away...

10 team keeper.

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P. 7 x BN.

Scoring categories:

Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Strikeouts (K), Batting Average (AVG), On-base Percentage (OBP), Games Started (GS), Wins (W), Losses (L), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP).

Yeah, Pence at $9 is too nice to pass up. Chapman could be a steal for that price too. $7 on catcher isn't terrible. Montero should be great, assuming Snyder doesn't play too much. Crazy how expensive Bills went and Ubaldo went for cheaper. Surprised Nunez went for that much. I really like your pitching overall. You could have three to four aces. Dunn and Reyes -- kept? Either way, I like the hitting, average and OBP might be issues, but I like the Dunn addition to help that. Bay and Upton are nice buys for that team too. Overall, nice job, Steve.

Reyes and Dunn were both purchased at auction. Reyes was an early strike and Dunn I just waited on and was pretty happy to get him for that price, given how important I percieved him to be to my team. BJ was actually a guy I threw out there, trying to drain cash from the other guys, but ended up with him.

Yeah - the Bills/Ubaldo thing was a little odd, although I was sticking pretty closely to Rudy's 10-team Point Shares values which have Bills at $20 and Ubaldo at $9, so at $32 for the both, I think it worked out pretty well. Only having kept Cain, Bills was one of my definite targets so I was willing to go the extra. Plus Ubaldo got nominated pretty late when I (obviously!) had money left and gave me the opportunity to snag a guy from the tier above Cain and Bills for a decent price.

Indeed - there's no way Nunez is a $9 closer, but I'd pulled out of the bidding on so many closers becasue I didn't want to overpay, that I was running the risk of coming out of the draft without enough saves (not necessarily the end of the world), so I just did what it took.

Obviously I took Alvarez with a view to next year...

Really nice pitching staff up front -- the top three. Then you have some vet options, which isn't bad. Pujols, Kinsler, Drew, Ibanez and Cruz were nice additions to the hitting. You still feel light on power. Morgan and Bourn are not helping that. One crazy steal guy should be plenty there. You don't need both at all. I'd look to see if I could get something for Bourn. Think a power threat OF. I'd say Dunn, but Steve's not going to give you think if he reads this, which he will.
