Andrus' stock rises

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Andrus' stock rises

Postby Beane Disciple » Sun May 03, 2009 7:33 pm

I was watching the Ranger's game tonight and they've got Elvis Andrus in the 2 hole now. As of earlier in the week he was batting 8th in the lineup and splitting time often with Omar Vizquel, greatly diminishing his value.

This move isn't likely based on Hamilton's injury because that doesn't make sense. What does make sense is that the Rangers are looking for an upgrade in the speed department at that spot in the lineup (Michael Young, I believe, had mostly batted there).

Andrus has looked good at the plate so far this year and has done really well in the field also. Can we believe that the Rangers might be ready to increase his playing time and improve his lineup spot? I think it's possible enough to make it worth scooping him before someone else does.

If he solidifies the #2 position in that lineup he instantly becomes uber-rosterable and probably a top 5 shortstop. Of course there's a chance that this was temporary and he could be moved down and platooned with Vizquel again. But the sequence of events here seems to suggest that Andrus might be there for the long haul. Just wanted to pass this on to fellow Razzballers.

I just traded him away in one league, so thanks for that vote of confidence! (Insert emoticon here)

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
